Hi
i will start this off by saying i dont want to buy isk - i actually want a loan (if you can help please go here http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=959622
heres the "real" post.
Ok i want a GTC/Plex from the market, i go online and purchase around 400m isk.....and purchase a GTC/plex via the ingame market
assuming CCP catch me............what would happen? When it was "just" isk you were buying they would seize your assets (i beleive), what would they do now,
Ps im not actually going to buy isk, as mentioned i want a loan, but i was just wondering

ccp will remove the 400m isk meaning you cannot sell/buy stuff or upgrade your clone, leaving you in the - numbers, meaning that if your ship is destroyed/damaged beyond undocking you will be forced to purchase a GTC from CCP to continue playing. thus CCP gets 2 GTC purchases out of your mistake making double the money and seriously! Thanks for just reading my sig! |

At a guess they would still just remove the isk. If you didn't have that much isk you would end up with a negative balance.
Obviously there would still be the warnings if not a ban.

CCP will deduct whatever isk you bought from your wallet; since you already spent it you will get a negative balance, leaving you unable to do anything with the market and contracts (since you can't pay the broker fees) and in effect unable to play the game at all.
Then you'll complain about it on the forums and everyone will nicely point out you have nothing ingame at all, are out reallife cash, and laugh at you for being a moron.
That is, if you are stupid enough to buy isk through unapproved methods.

Edited by: Khemul Zula on 29/12/2008 23:55:03 Now let me start off by saying I did not actually kill someone and chop them up into multiple pieces. I actually just want to buy a Falcon.
But let's say I needed to hide a body (hypothetically) from the authorities. Now lets also say there is now a lot of (hypothetical) blood and (hypothetical) gore in my (hypothetical) home as a result of certain, activities. How would I go about covering up this hypothetical situation before the authorities arrive? Keep in mind, I really just want to buy a Falcon, but I'm just wondering, if I did need to cover up such a thing how would I go about doing it?
------ I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it. |

If CCP catch isk buyers they just take the money back, even if you don't have enough. I know people who have ended up with -1 billion isk wallets from buying a bil isk and then spending it all.

CCP should prevent skill training for people with a - balance. And before someone says "But they cant buy skillz - Duh" You can always eject ships, mods, skill books in space with a alt and pick it up.

Edited by: Qordel on 30/12/2008 01:29:08 If you want a loan, why don't you just go to EBANK?
I don't know how they would assess the risk of a loan to an individual who would have to lapse their account otherwise, but it'd be the direction to go for a legitimate loan, I suppose. Not to mention that they might assess your risk even greater since you're posting in a forum about how you're "not going to buy ISK.... but let's say I *DID*...".
The way I see it, the hypothetical has absolutely nothing to do with your situation unless you're actually considering it. -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009? |

the only reason this post existed is i spotted a advert to buy isk, 500m for 5 us dollars, which works out cheaper than a time card, so i wondered what would happen, I know what happens if you buy a "physical" item such as a ship

Like said before, if they catch you, and they will, your account goes in the minus at least as much as you bought, making it unable for you to sell, buy anything in game. Only way out is to rat your way back into the plus. (I rather play wow, then risk that)

Sure, go ahead! Buy 500m isk for 5 bucks!

It's a rumour. What happens is that the perp buys eg: 5 billion, spends it, then gets caught. He now has -5 billion ISK. But he still has all the stuff he bought, barring lolfit honour-tank losses, of course.

CCP doesn't usually confiscate any items, they simply remove the isk from your wallet, even if you are at ZERO. If your wallet was zero you'd end up -400 million, or however much you bought, which pretty much cripples your ability to play.
If you had simply used the isk to buy a ship or something then you could sell the ship and try to get back to zero, but if it's a plex card you cannot sell it back so you are pretty screwed. ----------------------------------------------------

Edited by: brinelan on 30/12/2008 19:25:12 You cant sell if youre in the negitive since you cant pay the broker fees. don't buy isk unless through gtc sales, it isnt worth it.
Oh, to the OP, check the dev blogs <---- here and i think there was a sticky recently too with some info from the gm staff about the other stuff that happens to people who buy isk other then negitive balances. It isn't worth the fraudulent credit card usages you will start seeing and your accounts getting wiped out by the isk sellers.

Does that mean you couldn't even fill a buy order because it still basically treats that as a sell order? I guess the only option would be to use the trade window, or fill a "want to buy" contract. ----------------------------------------------------

I guess he thought posting with an alt would help his main "isk buying" character avoid the hot water.

Trade window you can be scammed pretty easily on, and the same with wtb contracts.. but pretty much, ya...
