This was in Europe so probably the reason.
When they build one in Texas you'll probably get land mines and auto turrets and gun cabinets.

If I ever become extremely wealthy, Im going to start building homes and hotels like this.
I have a feeling that It'll be far too long before we actually see something like this.

Technically if you wanted you could do this in your own home, it just means building these things yourself.
you would have to be very technical minded.

I'm hoping to build something similar to a Huff Haus that's energy neutral in a couple of years. I would do it when I move next year but finding the land and getting self build mortgages right now is.. well.. interesting.
To be honest though I would like to get past neutral and into them (the utility suppliers) paying me year round... some hope.

I have the means, tools, and my father has the knowhow, if I were to enlist his help.
However, motivation is lacking as I am perfectly happy with what I currently have. Maybe in a few years.

Heh. Motivation, time, money and TIMING.
I say TIMING like that because I once built myself a largish (5m deep, 4m wide, 8m long) Koi pond and hand fiberglassed it. Only thing was.. I did it in October in the UK.
David, I was thinking about ground source heat pumps (I made my own super cheap one from scratch for teh Koi pond using garden hose buried in a heat absorbent gravel bed) as well as solar (the vacuum tube ones) and wind. I also thought about seeing if I could fill the loft space with tesla coils tuned to pick up G3 and mobile phone radiation... but figured the local phone companies might have a problem with the large radio shadow around my house.

It's all an unknown at this point as I've got to sell here and move. Then find a plot, get planning, etc. So sadly a 2010+ project but at least technology will have moved on a bit by then.

Ditto. And seriously, if I want to close the window I'm more than happy to just pull a string. Clicking my way through 5 menus then waiting for it to happen automatically is just silly. ----------------
