Slightly off topic, but a lot of you probably use the Sony video editing software. I have a version of Vegas (Platinum HD 10, not pirated) but keep getting a scripting error on booting the software. Something about "message not found" and the program closes.
Searching around the web, this seems to be a problem that goes back some time with Sony software, but I can't find any solutions anywhere. The solutions to the problem listed on the Sony site do absolutely nothing (delete all .NET related anything ever, delete all Sony software ever, reinstall off the website and not the DVD, etc).
Anyone have any experience with the problem? I have a ton of EVE fraps I'm slowly trying to get around to editing, and I can't do anything without the software. Have a project half-complete that I can't access now (and it's some epic stuff, too--killing an Astarte in a battle Oneiros and trading the Oneiros for a Rapier while fighting a Hurricane+Rapier solo).
Alternatively, does anyone have recommendations on editing software if I can't resolve this problem? I don't really want to pay for more software, but all of the free stuff I can find has harsh limitations and/or reduces the quality of the video so much you might as well draw stick figures. I have extremely high res fraps and would like the video to stay as high quality. |

Windows Movie Maker
It allows up to 1920 x 1080.
No idea what your Sony issue is, I'm sorry to say - didn't they release a new version 'back in June?

Probably. I think I installed my original version in like March, didn't touch it after May, and tried to boot it today unsuccessfully. Only thing I can think of is some other program it depends on got updated and is causing the error. I just don't know anything about anything when it comes to technical stuff, so I'm completely at a loss. I submitted a ticket to Sony, but I have a feeling my chances of something useful coming out of that are slimmer than slim.
I'll look at WMM, but I seem to recall it lacking even basic stuff that I wanted to do (basic audio editing, captions with more than a single stock font, putting a block over my chat channels, etc). |

I use Adobe Premiere/After Effects instead of Vegas, but if you wanted an answer you should probably post the *exact* error message you receive instead of "something about xxx" |

I agree with you after some Google-fu, it does look like a .NET framework issue.
this forum post looked promising, as did this forum post
Sony tech support should be good.
