What if Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft got bored and hired 6000 people to play Eve in his own private alliance, he can afford it, billions in real life isk!!!! He would have 2000 people cover each 8 hour shift and they would never be afk. He could literally, destroy every alliance, and field 2000 man super cap fleets. Imagine all the GTC he could sell. Would CCp allow it, I dont know if they would turn away 6000 paying subs, but it is always a possibility a rich Middle Eastern Prince will get some crazy idea. I need to sleep. Happy New Year!!!!!

Spend 2 months training stealth bombers, bombs, and figuring out how to align them all in the same direction. Buy GTCs to pay for 2000 SBs and bombs. Then go have fun out in 0.0. I'd laugh so hard if I saw 2000 bombs being launched simultaneously into a 100+ person blob. That or train them all to be discogeddons and warp them all to jita 4-4 during peak hours after using one of the accounts to eject from a navy raven parked right outside.

I might think about buying 20 trillion isk worth of GTCs and monstering around 0.0 but in the end it would get boring pretty quick.

Mostly thanks to xbox live. you've never actually owned an xobx 360 have? my brother has one, and its been sent away to get fixed about 5 times in 2 years, and that is just his current one, his old one to get fixed just as often. my ps3 is almost 2 years old and i havent had any problems with it (other than one firmware coding screw up that kept crashing ps3's, but that was when i got back into eve and wasnt on my ps3 much). while the xbox360 has sold more units, it has been out longer, is cheaper than the ps3 and uses older technology then there is the xbox live community, its like the console version of WoW, 10 million 12 year olds and people who act 12, and about 1 million mature adults. and you have to pay for it, whereas with the Platstation Network, its free and has less a$$ hats to ruin your day. plus they just release the beta version of Playstation Home, a 3D avatar based world that is also free. playstaion have much more going for it that xbox finally, microsoft dont actually make any of the games, they just pay developers to make games for thier console. microsoft arent in it for anyone but them selves, they could care less about what happens to those studios once they pull oput of the conole market, which at some point they will as they only entered it ot mke a quick buck. ______________________________________________

Yes mods for the game are good, some of them do a decent job of fixing/adding things that were sorely lacking, but Freelancer, while a gem in its own way, is not an amazing game. It felt like it could have been but was stopped short. IT was fun playing through the game in a cheap ship with torps though. If you people think torps were once overkill here, you need to hit stuff in FL with torps while using your thrusters. Even the crappy torps can kill the strongest non-capital NPCs in 1-2 hits tops. When you have decent agility, doing those bomb runs on other fighters isn't too hard either, espeically the heavily ships. Speaking of ignorance, how much time have you put behind OSX or various linux and unix distributions? Anyone with significant experience understands where Vista fails for the end-user (we won't even talk about power-users, developers or server-side use). The best parts were stripped before release, making it mostly irrelevant. Corporate adoption is minimal, gamer adoption of it took a very long time and people still consider reverting to XP to me an upgrade - and as a result, "Windows 7" is being brought forward quickly. Microsoft puts out some pretty good software and except for the XBOX with a 33% failure rate that they expected before even shipping, their hardware is pretty fantastic, too. It also tends to be bloated, expensive and not offer anything not offered elsewhere. Vista certainly introduced nothing new to the world. Microsoft's greatest asset is brain-share. That's it. It's like saying that Brittany Spears is the greatest musical artist of all time, because she has sold so many albums. The two really aren't related and just because she has greater distribution and corporate support doesn't mean she is great. All the same, it doesn't mean she's the worst ever, either. I develop enterprise level server software (LDAP, email and identity servers) on a wide variety of systems that gives me a great deal of exposure and experience to them and while I would never say Microsoft puts out the ***tiest OS, I would never claim it's the best by any means. It s a competent OS for the needs most people have for it and with a lot of inherent problems that are still unaddressed after all these years. I only use Windows when I have to; I prefer to stick with nix variants (including OSX) that are far more secure, reliable and powerful and allow me to do things I need to do that Windows doesn't and probably never will (unless they follow Apple's suit with respect to the foundation of the OS). I certainly don't think less of Window users, though (and understand that MS reaches a certain group of people who don't have the interest, expertise or patience for other systems they aren't familiar with) That said, I dislike brainless Microsoft bashers as much as the brainless Microsoft worshipers. Their business acumen is superior to their actual products (and ethics for that matter), but there is no denying that Microsoft is as significant to and responsible for the technological world we're in today as Jobs and Wozniak. There's also no denying that whatever gripes and complaints we can share about Gates' business practices against numerous companies dating from the MS DOS guy to Netscape Communications - he has surprised us all by becoming an admirable philanthropist relatively early in his life. But yeah... I would be cautious throwing around "ignorant" unless I were more than just passingly familiar with the alternatives - which for all I know, perhaps you are. -- What's your EVE New Year's Resolution for 2009?
