Is there any consensus on what the current top 3 solo/small gang PVP ships are in the game?
Your thoughts, input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Recon ships and some hac's are the best solo ships.
For roaming gangs Falcons are 100% must have.
Caldari ships dont make good solo/roaming ships.

There is no one-ship-pwns-all ship. People will pick what fits their playstyle. I have a lot of patience and am willing to sit in hostile territory until a hauler comes through so I can tackle him and steal his loot. I have good drone skills and good gunnery so I'd chill in an Arazu.
For HAC I'd probably go for a Vaga or Cerb, depending on my mood, face-melting or sniping from safety.
To other folk killing ratters is what PvP is about they'd probably use Pilgrims on Ravens or something. |

Commander Yassir, please tell me why the Rifter is so amazing and the Pilgrim is truly evil. The more specific you can be the better. As I am no very little about these two ships and would like to learn.
Also, snugglebutt... what can you tell me about the Cerb?

I dont have much EXP doing SOLO pvp, other then dying to Huginns..
Huginns are great solo ship, but this is before the NANO NERF.
Now its any ones guess.
I do love to roam, with a full set of recons n hac's ROAMing is great fun.
personally I fly Sniper Cerbs, Falcons, Sac's (not nano) and Vultures in fleets n roams.

edit: There are no 3 best ships for small gang stuff. Your gang composition will depend on the pilots playstyles, and what you're trying to acheive. Every ship has it's own purpose.

For solo low sec with blues in local or nextdoor (so you have backup if needed) my picks are as follows:
1) Hurricane
2) Harbinger
3) Thorax
I will explain why. The hurricane has the best balance of mobility (with MWD), sensor resolution, tank and firepower of any ship I've come across. A moderately skilled one will pump out 400 turret/missile dps + drones, have a top speed of around 1km/s and be able to lock most cruisers before they can warp.
The harbinger lacks the hurricane's mobility but makes up for it with a 20km optimal turret range and better turret dps. The fact is, with the harbinger you don't even have to approach the target if it is within 24km. It also has nearly twice the hurricane's drone bay.
The thorax is cheap, highly mobile (with mwd) and one of the most powerful cruisers. They get popped alot but they can take down so many things with ease it just doesn't matter.

Pilgrim-It can warp while cloaked (SNEAKY), Nuets, Nos, TD, Drones, an actual tank.
Rifter-Best combination of speed, tank, and gank imo. (I still really like the merlin though.)

For me, atm im having fun in a sabre and ranis. Both do evil dps and great for killing ratting bs. ive also havent lost a 1v1 in my ranis or sabre yet

Solo - Rupture, arbitrator, vexor are all awesome and cheap to lose. Ishtar and vaga are decent soloing hac's
Small gang - Ishtar, curse, harbinger, drake, heavy pulse fitted zealots(you need two of these to cover each other), falcon of course as they let you engage outside your weight class

The Wolf and Jag are still completely different ships. Also, with the rifter you can wreak havoc for a very low isk cost. I take out rifters, put a t1 fit on them and I'm killing cruisers and the occasional BC's in it solo. With a good tank fit you can take on most things bigger ships throw at you.

3 best solo ships: zealot, pilgrim and finaly for pure awsomeness for the price....rifter!
3 best ships to have in a 3 man gang: zealot, curse, falcon.

My 3 fav ships for small gangs are sacreilge, harbinger and then the curse.
I think the reason that not many amarr pilots fly the zealot is due to the fact that with amarr its all about the tank. The zealot is suited best to being fitted for gank, where the damage is ok (i would personally rather be in the harbinger if i require dps though)wereas the sac can fit a really sweet tank that can easy perma rep gate fire.

I'm gallente only atm so my 3 picks are Ishtar, Ishkur and Taranis. All pretty great for solo and small gang.
Though, as I like blasters, my only problem soloing is that I have to fit a scrambler, which means that I can mostly only catch targets willing to fight (though tbh current tackling is all about that, sadly) and all of those ships have a reputation that many targets seem to fear, rightly so... I get most fights in the Ranis atm even though it's the "worst" performer. (It's still pretty amazing) I guess cram a disruptor as well on the Ishtar but I still wouldn't catch much more than now except the occasional BC.

tackler buzzard, sacrilege(cerb), curse against loggoffskis perfect for smoking ratters down without aggro
it is always a question or what exactly your looking for...
or 3 blackbirds just for fun =P
