Now CCP have removed ghost training I think we should be able to train more than one character on the same account.
I used to run 2 accounts, my main account is always paid for but my second account was there when I got bored of playing my main all the time. It provided me with a welcome change in game play. I would pay for a month on my second account, play it, set a long skill then go back to my main.
As things stand now with the cost of living going up I can not afford to pay for 2 accounts running permanently so I have stripped my second account and shelved it because I cant ghost train anymore.
It seems to me unless you can afford 2 accounts or more you are stuck with one character. I do not want to stop his training to train another character on the same account as skills take long enough as it is.
I would rather have one good character with skills that advance regularly than two characters that take twice as long to become what I want them to be.
So CCP please allow us to train more characters on the same account now you have removed ghost training.

Only if you can only sell accounts, not single characters and can't transfer characters from account to another.
Otherwise, it's character farming season.

Farming characters would increase, but the market for characters would also shrink. Why buy a specialized character, when you can train one at the extra cost of one character slot. Specialization would lose a lot of its value and playing solo would get boosted. Not to mention CCP would lose income as people would cancel accounts they just use for skilling alts.

I was stunned when the 3 charicters you are allowed was in fact just 1. It's really cheap and borders on false advertisement but whatever. I agree that we should be allowed to have 3 active charicters per account. Yes more charicter farming will take place but that's fine, I really don't care. Incidentally, I'd also like to see everyone in eve given all lvl5 skills and the whole skill training thing to be done away with entirely.
Abilities in game should be determined by player skill, not arbitrary "skills" determined primarly by how long you've been sending CCP real life money. That said, SP isn't everything. Those sold charicters are often very, very easy to kill .

But the fact is, in the current economic climate some of us cannot afford to run 2 accounts, so we are down to one character, we get bored quicker and leave anyway.
Being able to train more than one character on the same account makes for more interesting gameplay and that leads to longer paid subscriptions (well for me it would be anyway).

Training two toons at the same time doesn't seem like a good idea. If anything, have the alt toon train at a vastly different timescale. This gets a little tricky as well however and I'm pretty sure I'm voting against this idea. What about USING your alts at the same time. If it was implemented it might cause pandemonium, but why is it that we can't USE our alts without paying for them. As it stands our alts are completely separate from our mains. This way you could still keep the alts extremely underpowered for combat and such, but they could be used for utility, like hauling those rocks away from the belts. Even if you did decide to train up your active alt for combat, you'll still have to sink tons of time into doing so, and in this way its almost like you are paying for another account which i'm sure CCP would dig. So I guess the long and the short of it is, allow 2 ACTIVE toons per account but still only allow one toon train at a time. Ideas?

Maybe your priorities should be placed somewhere else if you can't afford the 2nd account, perhaps the 1st account should go as well. i think because you cant play 2 of same charictors on the same account at same time i think if you paid an additional amount to activate more than 1 train charictor.
i have this pride to be a combat specialist if i train all those other skills im not so much anymore and thought if i could pay like 5 dollars more a month and have an alt train build skills that might make life much easier for me.
if i could even train 1 main and 2 alts and pay like 15 for my normal subscription and 5 more for alt 1 and 5 more for alt 2 this will allow me to train a miner, builder and let me continue as pirate but this is nurfed because i can only use 1 charictor 1 at a time.

Firstly, I hate that ghost training is gone. It made the game a lot less fun for me coz my char will advance much slower coz there is no way I'm paying just to be training during my uni terms when I barely have time to sleep let alone play a computer game.
Secondly this guy has a point, it's wouldn't work entirely on a game like eve but if there were none or just less skills you would have to be a better pilot and have better tactics to get ahead.

I agree this is a very alt unfriendly game. Since it is required that you pay for another account if you want to be able to train them both. They should at least offer a discount. Or just remove the extra slots since their effectively useless.

Why is it that anytime someone wants to suggest a rethink of this game or any other for that matter they are called a troll? I feel this term is over used, and is used to label people for thinking.
Originally by: Kuranta Edited by: Kuranta on 02/01/2009 09:42:32 There is no other mmo where you can train two characters at the same time. Why should EVE be different. CCP would alt lose accounts and thus lose money, so it's not gonna happen.
secondly, thats because in other MMOs you physically can't sign onto the same account with two character at the same time, you either play with one or the other. the idea of a skill system that trains whether you play or not in many ways breaks the MMO mindset anyway, the idea is to get asses in seats to play.
I'll be honest, I see the pros and cons of the skill training mindset, but to be honest, i never really did like it, especially since gameplay has no effect one way or the other on skill training, now if they had a way to make it so that your gameplay would affect the skills in which your style uses, that would be nice. For Ex. A PVPer does his thing and his gunnery skills train a faster. a Miner Mines and his industry skills train a bit faster. and so on and so forth.
in other MMOs, players play the character and depending on how much or little they play determines the speed of their advancement, and the more they play in a particular style, or specialization, they are eventually going to get some top level skill or power.
In EVE the player has no control over the speed at which they progress, it becomes a matter of time.
Now i know this is where people will say, Well EVE isnt like your normal MMO. And Of course i get that. But that statement isn't always a good thing. In one way, EVE being a different kind of MMO, means its unique and different. However it also means it can be very esoteric and hard to expand. the fact that the player no matter what they do, a player who plays every day for 4 hours a day cannot go faster then the player who logs in once a week to change skills, and almost never plays. Isk is not a problem, time codes for one solves the iskies problem for the fair weather player. So all a person has to do is sell time codes, and wait, then they can get that pretty ship, but wait, now you say, but they can't use it, or there personal ability to play the game is so lacking they will loose that expensive ship. Well I've got a solution for that, the test server Singularity, where one can purchase most anything for 100isk, and play to your hearts content, blow up carriers by the truck load, PvP by consent and just have fun doing whatever you feel like.
the fact is in the end, the hardcore player doesnt have that much motivation to play everyday, if his lazy counter part can do all that and more using what tools are at hand. While i don't want to advocate the abolition of the skill system, i do want a mechanic that would add a way to speed up training time for skills you use all the time. to reward the player who logs in and mines religiously, or logs in to mission run or PvP, what ever your style, if you do it all the time, then you should have something to show for it.

I don't agree on allowing training two characters on same time due to farming reasons already stated by everyone. But on the other hand, I would like to have the ability to log in two characters at the same time (only one under training, of course). I wouldn't pay for two accounts (too expensive), but I would like to log in concurrently with an alt that I previously trained and specialized (to help on hauling, scouting, trading, etc). Since only one can train at a time (so SP/$ is not increased), that would not unbalance the game, would it?

The OP has been on the failsauce. You are basing your post on the assumption that you actually need 2 concurrent characters to play the game and you don't. If it was actually 100% necessary to have 2 characters logged in at once to play then ccp would allow multiple training on one account and allow you to log in 2 chars from the same account simultaneously. It's not neccesary so it won't happen. One account, one skill training at a time, one logged in at a time.
Anything else would be financially daft for CCP... Almost as daft as your post.

Too bad it's not. There's plenty enough time in many other MMO's to advance multiple characters to the peak of the available content.
- That doesn't mean that I agree with the OP however. Instead I'd rather just see +3/2/1 implants being made more easily available to new players aswell as lower the skill training modifier on many of the core skills such as Weapon Upgrades. Along with this add more skills to player creation, for instance propulsion jamming. I don't see why a new player should have to wait more 3-4 months just to have the minimum skills to pilot an AF somewhat well in PvP.

It's nice when people try to compare mmo's that are totally different. You can't compare eve's skill system to any other mmo. That's like adding up apples and pears. 2 apples + 2 apples = 4 apples. 2 pears + 2 pears = 4 pears. But 2 apples + 2 pears will allways be 2 apples and 2 pears ;) I bet you all know those simple equations.
Anyhow, since you've all started it, lets just try and add up those pears and apples, and maybe we get some nice candy out of it :)
In other mmo's you level up by playing a character, killing stuff, etc. You get it for actively playing. You can have multiple characters on your one account, and play them as you like, and each one levels up whenever you play them. You're saying that you can train multiple characters on one account simultaniously in other mmo's? Show me just one! Because as far as I know, only one character of your account can be online at any time, and only this character will train up! All the others will get nothing.
In eve, you can train all your characters on your account, just not at the same time! But compared to other mmo's, your characters will still train even if you're not online and don't log on, at least for as long as your subscription is active. You can stop your skill training on one char, and start training another. There's noone holding you back. So, to be quite fair, you already get a lot more training than in other mmo's, since you "level up" over time, even if you do nothing with that character, and even when you play other characters on your account.
So, why do you "feel" that you can beef up multiple characters on one account in other mmo's, but not in eve? Because in eve the skill cap cannot really be reached. It takes more than a decade to fully train your char. You have to specialize, and still spend multiple months, until you get to your expert levels and level 5 support skills. In other mmo's you grind for a months and are on top of the skill-tree. You cannot actually level up any further, so you start pushing other characters.
So, the difference between eve and other mmo's isn't the fact that you can't train multiple chars at the same time, since you can't there, and you can't here, its the fact that you do have a way higher and more complex and intense skill tree than in other games, wich takes alot more time. The difference is, you won't reach your cap here, and therefore do not "want" to train other chars on your account. It's not that you cannot do that!

Thats one of my reasons for wanting multiple training on one account. The average EVE player plays (and pays) for 3 years say? Well if they only ever have 1 account they will not get to experience all of the game will they, and that is a shame.

I am glad you are doing well for yourself but it's not nice to nock down people less fortunate. I have a mortgage to pay and children to feed and I work hard to keep it all together.
So do the rest of us but you don't see us crying to CCP about not being (or wanting) to pay for another account. When I was laid off a few months ago, I canceled my subs until I found new employment. Luckily it was pretty quick but RL comes first before Eve.
Thats right. But who said I was crying about it? Im not at all, this was just something I would like to see happen and that's what this forum is for is it not?
I was never here to argue, I was just here for adult dicussion about something I would like to happen

Sorry but throughout the whole thread you have been whining and crying about the economy, cost of living...etc. while not facing the fact that you need to improve your RL situation if you want to run 2 accounts. I know it's hard to face but CCP isn't going to allow training of more than 1 character on an account at a time. If they did then it would be at 1/2 or 1/3 speed(depending on the number of characters in training). You already said that you didn't want that so now you are just trolling to gain sympathy. Sorry you have none from me. ------------------------------------

You pay to train
Suggestions:
You could pay half price (6.99Ç/month) for training second charcater with half training speed on same account? Or you could split the training speed to train 2 chars with half speed?

Buy GTC with ISK, pay subscription with GTC. Your troll is one for the book, now go buy your children something nice and say it's from the internet santa. CCP already made this game free for cost.

I think it can be pretty much assumed by all that CCP will not let us train 2 toons at the same time without paying for it. With that the OP is shot down. Plain and simple. Ideas have been expressed about paying half-price to train another toon at half-speed. Not going to happen, and even if it did, why not just buy another account. However, i still think it would be a great idea if we could pilot a single alt along with our main. Still only train one at a time though. Some have also stated that since this aspect would never be "strictly necessary" that it would not and should not happen. I have to disagree with this sentiment. A great deal of "things" in EVE are completely arbitrary and not necessary at all. POS's are unnecessary. More than one ship is unnecessary. Hell, the game itself is unnecessary. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I think you have to come up with a better reason to be against an idea rather than simply say that it isn't necessary. EVE is about being fun, so while I don't believe that two toons on the same account should ever be able to simultaneously train skills, flying two at the same time could be cool.

Just make lots of ISK ingame so someone with lots of money in real life can pay your subscription fees for you with GTC. Use the GTC to pay for your second account, which is now free.

I can't decide if this is a troll or not, honestly.
