You can't use bubbles of any kind in lowsec. A hictor has to use the focused warp disruption script to use his scrams in lowsec, which turns them into 28-30km infinite-point warp scramblers. It's still incredibly effective with two sensor boosters and 2-3 scrams but it's not nearly as fun as with a bubble up. A standard dictor is practically useless in lowsec.

As far as I know, the destroyer sized interdictor can only use bubbles in 0.0. The cruiser sized interdictor can use its bubble in low sec as I have been killed by one once. The destroyer sized one would still be useful to a small gang as it gets range bonuses on propulsion jamming which is handy. The cruiser is handy also, but I haven't every been in a gang with one.

I fly one. It can't. There was a bug (not sure if it's still active) where the bubble graphical effect would accidentally display if you had the focused warp disruption script in and were at level 5 HIC but the bubble wasn't ACTUALLY there.

Edited by: Doctor Mabuse on 04/01/2009 01:33:43 The HIC can load a script into its warp field generator giving it an infinite point on one target.
Range is based on HIC level I believe, so about 28km's at HIC 4
Edit: There are no range bonuses for propulsion jamming on the normal interdictor ------------------------------------

This isn't so much a bug as it is a Feature. There is no graphic/animation for the Focused Script version. The Warp Disruption Field Generator uses the same graphic regardless if the script is in or not, so it creates the appearance of a bubble whenever you use it, though it's just a graphical anomaly, you aren't actually in a bubble. -------------------------- NOTR *nsfw* |

I'm pretty sure it uses the warp disruptor graphic when the script is loaded. The bug is that it uses the bubble graphic when you have HIC level 5. I'm not even sure if the bug is even still in effect but it most definitely doesn't happen to me with HIC 4.

We use HICs alot in our lowsec camps. The bubble effect is triggered if you enter the grid after the point is activated. If you are on the grid when it happends, it use the normal warp disruptor graphic.

idk, im not calling you a liar or anything, but there have been a few times in which ive seen this
sometimes whilst traveling through low sec in a small ship, if i hit a gatecamp, sometimes i like to sit like 150km off, just to see if they will react to my being there, try to come shoot me, ect.
anywhoo, i once saw a gatecamp, and they had a heavy interdictor up, and it was literally right on top of the gate, no targets jumped through, and there appeared to be a bubble up
another time i jumped into low sec w/ a shuttle, and remember specifically thinking, man, im lucky, my shuttle spawned right outside the dictor bubble, and was a bit scared, not even afraid to admit, lol that since i was so close i might still be in the field's range, again, this was a low sec system

Interesting, so that's what it is? I have to test that, even if it is just a graphical bug.

In both cases, you saw the bubble graphic but didn't experience the bubble effect. That's consistent with what I've been saying, that it's just a graphical bug and there's no actual bubble there.
