when you watch CCP iceland fanfest parties online and realize there are lots of people laughing at stupid jokes and listening to beyond boring presentations for hours which add zero to the game and mean NOTHING....
I watched 2 hours of the last fanfest and i couldnt believe the tedium of the presentations, long ,boring, pointless, impractical and stuff that will never happen...... end of story.
people from NVIDIA talking about what they will be able to do in 2-3 more generations of graphics cards........
eve is still DX9.........!!!!!!!!!,,,,,,, pompous asses!!!!!!!!!!!!! and wont be DX10-11 for 5 years at least!!!!!!!.
is it even multithreaded?????, i dont think so......... |

And yet when CCP announced in April that they would discontinue Shader Model 2 support, there was a public outcry. Personally I would be happy if EVE would move to DX10 or 11 but the crying on this forum would get even worse. |

when you are stopping to be happy about new patches, becouse you know, that there will be two times more bugs then content and bug fixes. |

Since you asked, yes I am a bittervet.
Well, I am an alt's alt, on a secondary account of a bittervet who's been in-game since May 2003.
So I think that makes me a bittervet... or is it just the main character? Well, she doesn't post much anyway.
I'm confused already. Must be getting old.

This. There is literally nothing CCP can do that won't result in a shitstorm. |

Your a vet when you learn to take EVERYTHING ccp says with a pinch of salt. I believe this can only be done because we have had years and years of "this will come soon" |

I'm pretty bummed about the avatar removal and new forum. But not sure if that defines me as bitter or not...

Being a bitter vet isn't about how they treat newbies, because they are bitter not arrogant fucks, ;)
A bitter vet is a longterm eve player that became so desillusioned with the game and CCP that he only sees that abd things in new stuff and good things in long gone stuff. And he keeps playing (or paying depends) because he wants to stick around a game he once loved.
Its like a 50 year marriage turned bitter. |

I've never really been bitter, i do miss the cruise missle kestral and the old days of 2005-2007 when small gnag pvp was alot more fun for me. But i have really just adapted over the years. It has taken me a while to get use to Incarna. And i was let down by the walking in stations but i understand that things develop slowly. |

wow, I see a LOT of great replies.
In general you guys definition is a bit different from what I expected, which I find interresting. It seems that from an objective point of view, bittervets is a bad thing to the game.
De-motivated players that are only here because of something that used to be.
At best, noobs will call you a bittervet because you have an experience that no-one else has in the game or atleast very few has.
I read all the posts and will try and write it together in the end on "What/who is a bitter vet"
(The PDF is a guide to becomming one, not a definition :P ) |
