Actually, due to the new bio interface that we got with the Exodus client, this thread, the post I linked, and this method of formatting your bio have all been rendered obsolete. Granted the in-game bio editor is a bit dodgey.
áááááBecause the first thing a noobie should do is write a cool, secksy bio!
áááááThis thread has a lot of good information about how to color the text in your bio as well and adding carriage returns properly.
Originally by: Flaze Edited by: Flaze on 15/03/2004 03:18:51 I know this isnt the exact forum but im not sure where else to throw this so...here goes....
Coloring Text in your EvE Bio
Here is the color chart for coloring EvE text in your character sheet Biography and exactly how to doit.
color=0xff808080 Grey color=0xffff0000 Red color=0xff00ff00 Green color=0xff0000ff Blue color=0xff00ffff Cyan color=0xffffc800 Orange color=0xff404040 Dark grey color=0xff000000 Black
To properly execute this in your bio you need to do two things....
1. The code above must be enclosed in <> to work 2. The line of code must also NOT have a space between it and the text you wish to color
Here are good examples of how to execute this code
<color=0xffff0000>This would be red text now <color=0xff0000ff>This would be Blue text now
Please note for those who have HTML skills this tag does NOT need to be closed.
Here are bad examples why it doesn''t work
color=0xffff0000TEXT GOES HERE (This would not work with out brackets <>) <color=0xffff0000> TEXT GOES HERE (This would not work because there was a "space" between the last > and the text being colored)
Happy coloring!

áááááThere are two major annoyances with the character bio. One: when you hit return to add a carriage return to your bio, you will see i tbut no one else will when they look at your bio. Trick is to add <br> in place of a carriage return.
áááááThe other annoyance is that whenever you look at your own bio through the character sheet all of the fancy formatting you added has just been erased. So how the hack do you check the formatting on your own bio?!?! Well, you can look at your own bio as others would see it by right clicking your ship (while in space, not in dock) and getting info. Then just click your portrait on the window that pops up and click the bio tab. Viola!
áááááI can't remember if multiple spaces are recognized by the bio, and if multiple "& n b s p ;" (minus the spaces) are a recognizable substitute for them if you want to indent (heh, but they work in this post).
áááááAnd there is a limit to the size of your bio, but I have yet to check to see what the max number of characters is.
áááááI also highly reccomend keeping a copy of your bio saved to a Notepad text file. That way you can edit it there as you desire then just copy and paste any changes you make as the months go by.

Ok, I have used the BIO Editor in castor and it worked great...thanks to the people who made it.
Anyone here able to get the formatting to "stick" when they make changes in the new bio tab? Everytime I setup the formatting the way I want it...text size, colors, etc...and I go to view my bio from an alt account or from space (useing Show Info) the formatting is all screwed up. Usually everything goes back to the 10point font and turns green.
Any way to get around this problem? I have tried the cut/paste of the bio with no formatting codes (just one pig paragraph of text) and did the formatting inside the bio tab with no luck. I have tried typeing the bio in from start to finish with no luck. I have tried setting up the bio in the notpad with no luck. I have tried setting up the bio in the Notes tab (where you can add notes for people you meet in game by looking at their information) with no luck.
I cant think of anything else...
thanks . . . "Come now, my child, if we were planning to harm you, do you think we'd be lurking here, beside the path, in the very darkest part of the forest?" -Kenneth Patchen "But Even So" |

I want to bump Mujun Kross's question, because I get the same thing. My bio formatting is reset automatically without ever actually working! ------------
