Im having strange things happen when I try to play that game.
When I double click the shortcut, I get the Quantum Rise banner for 30 seconds then that goes away and my CPU usage shoots to 100% and nothing happens. When I open up then task manager to look at applications running the CPU usages goes down to about 5% then when I exit the task manager the usage shoot back up to 100%
Even if I open up firefox the usage goes down to like 10% when I exit it goes back up to 100% and the game never loads up. I'ts weird
I've tried restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling
Anyone had this happen to them before?

I've had it happen with Company of Heroes but not Eve. For me it seems to be associated with the virtual memory being too low, but it happens infrequently as opposed to every time I start up the program.
What are your system specs?

Delete all your cache and settings files manually Update your graphic drivers and directx as well (vista doesn't have directx 9 default, so even though you have directx10, install 9 as well) Still not fixed? Post some system specs here, what os are you using, classic or premium, graphics card, cpu, etc, etc. _

If you have been updating the catalyst control centre, then I would suggest turning off the 'catalyst AI' feature.

Edited by: Rilwar on 05/01/2009 21:55:22 How are you measuring CPU usage?
If you're using a 3rd party program to monitor CPU use %'s, you would be able to see what process is using 100% of your PC. Because it would be on the same line as the usage %.
If you're just using task manager to monitor it, how do you know CPU usage is at 100% when it's closed.
I smell a troll.
If you're sincere, know that what you're most likley seeing using "100%" of your CPU is the System Idle processes, I.E. what Windows does in the background when YOU'RE not asking it to do anything else, so it can use all 100%, when you ASK it to do something, it's usage % will do down as your apps use more and more CPU. So seeing 100% usage is normal. Reinstall eve, because somthing got corrupted if all of a sudden you simply can't launch the app, after being able to do so.
This also smells of someone trying to do somthing they shouldn't be, because programs don't just break themselves. Unless it involves the cache, or user settings, but that's an intended feature that EVE randomly loses all your settings, according to the devs.

If you have any linux knoledge, or none at all, download a live cd, boot from there, copy and paste your music to another drive / external drive and whipe it after that.

Edited by: Karrade Krise on 06/01/2009 01:43:47 Only thing I can think of is uninstalling everything, remove everything related to EVE indluding your...registries I think? I dunno, reinstall/redownload, and use the technical issues forum, you might get better help in there.
and yes I didn't read rest of thread...so if you've already done all this or I was absolutely no help, then move along, nothing to see here :D

I smell a virus here....
Loose the PC and wipe everything.
This will teach you the value of Backups - I do mine to CD or DVD (now). Regular Backups are invaluable and with the costs of Blank DVD's and DVD writers its ridiculous not to think of this...
Viruses being so prevalent you need to take steps to protect your data...
