Well, this may sound silly but ive had a minmatar alt train purly for vaga, but never flown one yet. Now that his skills are done (Hacs 5, all gunnery support 5, all engineering support skills 5 etc) Whats the best approach of being a decent vaga pilot.
Is it really easy as orbiting at 15k (so about 19k) and scram and shoot away? With my gunnery skills i get 22km falloff, and 1300m optimal (or 2300 i forget)
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

id gow ith 2 ambit rigs and stay as far away as possible, make sure nothing comes close and youre always able to get the f out. That said its prolly alot cheaper for you to loose a few stabbers before hopping into a vaga. - Rage is Recruiting

Edited by: KhaelaMensha Khaine on 06/01/2009 12:13:57 I orbit at 18-20km depending on the target which puts me 20-24km from him.
I use 1 falloff rig and 1 kinetic shield resist rig (as a bit of a buffer against caldari missile boats).
Against a much larger, slower target you can use the auto-orbit as you only need to worry about are being neuted or chased by drones.
For anything smaller than a BC I would always fly manually 'cos if they have an mwd + scram they can shut down your mwd very fast and then you're dead.
I've also seen close range vaga setups using a scram (to shut down your mwd) on sissi but i have no idea what their setup was.

Best is to use 2x ambit rigs, you'll get around 30km range with barrage.
Fit 3x gyroII 2x nanofiberII to get a good dps and speed/agility (remember you'll not do full on-paper dps in falloff).
Have RF Emp and RF PP ammo in cargo and barrage in your guns.
Maybe invest in a 28km disruptor, gives another 4km range to play with.
Best drones Warrior II imo.
Targets you can kill quick you'd run up point blank and melt them with RF Emp/PP, strong targets you grind down from 15-25km.
Do not run the mwd while shooting, with the recent patch you'll hit better, but still orbiting at base speed and using the mwd to keep range is best for your dps.
Take care with AFs and interceptors, try to destroy them before they are in scrambler range as they tend to be a bit of a pain to kill orbiting at 500m.

been flying the ship forever and even with the nano nerf its a sick ship for manually orbiting at around 20-24 kms but keep one thing in mind, USE THERMODYNAMICS, they will save you life many a times like they have mine. also the first guy is right about flying the stabber (or rupture which fits rele great like the vaga)

Use a Stabber with a scaled down fit, throw some ambits on there and go learn how to fly it for a week.
Then buy a vaga, slap ambits on their and a Domination Warp Disruptor and go pew pew it up dawg. Sarkiss up in this. |

I prefer using a 2pt Scram and getting in close. Also makes ceptors and AFs cry when the MWD turns off and the Warriors eat them.
