surely people who are bad at maths have propped up the economy by their reckless borrowing and squandering of their own cash? far from 'costing' the economy anything.

That's a cynical and one-dimensional way to view it.
When I grew up the system was holding back promising students by giving all resources to failing students.
A better route would probably be to evenly spread resources, and make sure that those that fail get extra attention - but same goes for the promising students.
I know it got a bit dull when I was in the second grade and had done six years worth of schoolbooks. Until I hit the 7th grade I was spending my time playing games and reading books as I had done it all already. When things got more serious on higher levels I hadn't really studied for five years, so I skipped school and started to work instead. I did quite well, been forward, got contacts, earned quite alot of money etc, but in hindsight.. I'd much rather have stayed in school and got encouraged and got some feedback on how to study.
Same goes for pets tbh. You can get a dog that doesnt need much attention, just feed and walk him now and then. Or you get one that needs constant training or he'll go mentally ill. So.. wheeerreeee's joooohnnnnyy?

@Shanzem.
I have seen for myself a lot of what you're talking about in your various posts. Seriously though, you're preaching to the deaf if you think English (or anyone else in the UK for that matter) will listen.
They have been programmed by society to think that everything is peachy and the UK is still top dog in the world at everything. They also think that licking the dogs balls enough will stop it biting them. Such programming is hard to break and they'll only learn the hard way.
I'm already off to Europe in the next few days and good riddance to the UK. I would suggest you give up trying to reprogram the Brits and go yourself. Leave them to their fate.

There is profit to be had in reeducation. I try not to think of it as failure but an opportunity for someone else (that would be me) to succeed. ...but on a serious note, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

So they have a free healthcare?
They can drink themselves stupid
Nanny state, We cannot punish them,
We have a ****ed up education system
And they cost us more money to keep alive. AND they cost you your rights.
The TRUE price of idiocy, Am I the only person to see all of this?
My god.
I am not bashing the UK, But whoa we have let our standards slip. I just want to know other people feelings and thoughts..
It's terrible. It appears that standards in the teaching of punctuation have also slipped.
