Anyone noticed....given a less than good Sec status...while travelling through empire or even 0.0. in a pod!...you don't always end up within jump distance of a gate? maybe have to get that extra mile....just enough for a quick locker to get you? Anyone else experience this.....

Yes, it sucks. But who cares? Get used to it, CCP hates everyone who doesnt have a strip miner on their ship.

Sigh... let me 'splain.
The ships of Eve come in various sizes. The pod beeing the absolute smallest ship model out there.
Distance is relative to the size of the vessel you are in.
(rifter) ||O-------\ <----- 1500km -------> Jumpgate
(pod) O <---------- 2500+km ----------> Jumpgate
I'd rather the odd pod lands just a little too far from a gate to insta jump then the alternative which is all ships warp to a hard coded zero which causes me to constantly ricochet off the jumpgate instead of just the annoying every once in a while.

yes it takes a second to fly a tiny bit closer to jump
