Pirates + Sentry Guns = Bad Combination

It is pretty clear that piracy was meant to take place in low or no security space. So your arguement that you were not informed is without merit.

That sentry guns should somehow forget who you are and not attack you seems like a poor arguement also, most civilized nations can control their borders and scrutinize entry and exit.

The only point I can agree with is perhaps that the guns should not be able to hit you while you are cloaked. It might be argued that since you just hitched a ride on Concord jumpgate Concord might know where you materialized though.

Here's a suggestion: proceed with caution in light of these upgrades.

 Trev,

Under the rules of engagement, you would've remained criminally flagged to PC's so it shouldn't have been such a surprise that NPC's would see you as criminally flagged.

Read the flagging guide again and wait the appropriate time before moving systems (it just resets the timer, iirc).

Did¦t that text file say that if you got flagged and you jumped in to the next system you would not be flagged. But the "old" system would still remember you so if you waited 2 days and jumped back in you would still be flagged for the remaining ~15min
  .
I think that it is really stupid that the sentrys fire on flagged ppl and not just ppl with the old aggression timer active, was¦t the flagging system only going to help ppl kill orerats/pirates?

I think the reason this made a news item was because of previous complaints that when CCP fixed bugs with the guns they didn't inform anyone.

(This led me to question Zombie's camping of Atlar, because it wasn't clear if they were exploiting broken gun range or whether they were instead damping a fixed gun and just being clever. - In fact it was the latter and that was okay.)

As a result, I think they're being a little more public about fixes to the guns. Jumping to the next system wasn't as far as I'm aware, meant to be a way to avoid punishment for your crimes, so that they fixed it shouldn't be a problem.

As to being more specific, I think it was fairly clear that the guns would open fire, how much more do you need to know?

Don't get me wrong, obviously all you carebears appreciate the "Mining Sim" aspect of this game and marginalize PVP. But for pirates this is a huge, devastating change!

The second part of my criticism stems from CCP's inability to communicate changes effectively, especially when changes are made that adversely affect pirating.

Dont include pirates in the pvp crowd you **** , pvpers do it for the challange .
 Otherwise ... Haha !

Pirates aren't pvp'ers, they are pvc'ers (player vs carebears). They complain about not being able to shoot carebears without any risk in empire controlled space, ie, controlled by large empires which ahve tons of assets, research and especially huge fleets of ships at their disposal.

Carebears have the same "thing", only the other way around.

PVP'ers fight in wars and in 0.0, not in empire space against corps they don't even know.

Just get used to it that people whine about what they can't get (anymore), because "we are customers so f****n do what i say or i'll quit".

 *sigh*

I think what he was reffering to is that prior to this patch, security effect were nto carried between systems; they were restricted to the system you were in.

This patch apparently changed that, but neglected to inform anyone of that fact.

So while it may be a reasonable change, it is still a Stealth Nerf.

Well, if you are criminally flagged, it carries over to the next system. They have pointed out that Sentries now shoot all criminally flagged players.

Hmm, all I can say to Pirates is... stop calling carebears 'stupid and whiners'.
