Getting in my shinny new Helios tonight, with my shiney new Covert Ops Cloak engaged for the first time, I set to warp around the system cloaked. Ha!! Yes, you can ENTER warp cloaked, but as soon as you get into warp you decloak! You come out of warp UNCLOAKED!! Hardly what we were all led to believe was the case. I hope this is a bug! PLEASE be a bug!! If this is not a bug,all I have a something a little faster than a Rifter with a Portotype Coak that can get a quicker lock. What the heck is the point if you cant come out of warp cloaked?!?!?! PLEASE be a bug!!!!!

it's probably due to it being a hi-slot. i'd imagine (until this device) most high-slots are weapons or something that needs a target (shield transfer, f.ex) so, it probably got slipped through without changing the appropriate variables. hopefully this is something easily fixed.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

Covert Ops should be able to warp while Cloaked, when you enter a system you should be able to activate your cloaking device and be able to travel without uncloaking.
Anything less makes Covert Ops a POS (and no, that isnt Player Owned Structure/Station)
I'm glad I havent wasted training on Covert Ops. |

Yeah, at 20M a ship, you have got to be kidding. I'm actually apalled that the devs havent released more components to make these ships cheaper.
If they want people to specialize, you need to make sure these interceptors are cheaper than a tier 1 cruiser. The moment that happens, new players are more likely to start thinking "Not only are these ships affordible, but they are also more powerful than the frigate I'm in now, and are a good jumping platform to a cruiser" as the devs add further specialist frigate skills, some new players would be apt to think "I like the fast paced combat of frigates, and these new specializations make it so I can compete in PvP and not die in futility, I think I am going only going to pilot frigates because they become more powerful and useful as you specialize, and are the cheapest ship"
I mean, this is pathetic how many battleships and cruisers I see today when the majority should be frigates, then cruisers, than battleships. The problem has nothing to do with the insurance length or cost (because when you kill someone, they still need to buy insurance again), it has everything to do with the fact that the players more apt to specialize in frigates or cruisers are the new players, and the cost of these new ships are extremely prohibitive.
I really do hope this changes.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |

2004.07.25 06:34:57notifyYou fail to jump because you are cloaked. You fail to jump because you are cloaked.
Ihope this is borked as well cos after decloaking, i had a what seemed like 2 hour wait 4 the gate to actully let me jump due to the ever increasing session change time.
So lets recap, we get into the system, cloak, warp to the other gatecloaked, approch the gate cloaked, only to sit there 4 5 mins waiting to jump, cos "Stargate jump already in process" session change.

Edited by: Dr Who on 27/07/2004 02:29:02 A DEV has to have read this thread by now. Can we please get some kind of answer about this? Bug, no bug? Its frustrating to work hard and train to use this only to have it come up short of expectations. It only makes it more frustrating that the problem seems to be being ignored by those that can give an answer.

I had the same problem and it is very annoying...I also heard that before the release of the Covert Ops Cloaking Device on the Live Server it went through another turn of coding/balancing. But as it`s released now it really should work like intended. So what`s the problem?

I think the issue is actually that there are too few BPOs rather than too few components. It would be good if tech II ship BPOs were released at a rate over time rather than on a one off basis, which seems to be the case right now.
For example, you could have 4 BPOs released at introduction, then a further 4 every 3 months after that. This would mean that market prices would decay slowly over time as supply caught up with demand.
