Originally by: Qordel I only recall them stating that there would be no CQC (snaaaaaaaaaake!) combat for now. Primarily, because they haven't devised a way to handle it in a way that wouldn't result in death. They've batted around some ideas and I believe their comments were something like "you get guys out of their pods and walking around... of course at some point they're going to want to fight each other".
So I would not be surprised to see some sort of mechanic using that in the future. If nothing else, at least some sort of a sportsman-like combat (ie, not sneaking up on some guy in the halls an whipping out piano wire).
Maybe something like on BSG, huh? People fight it out in a ring, just trow your (corp) tags away for a moment and its you against him.
That could be fun.
Also, I get the destinct impression that people think WiS will be available at every single station in EVE. AFAIK, it will be only available at a *few* stations.

Yeah... Altered Carbon is a bloody awesome book.
Also, I think everyone should be made train new skills to do walking in stations:
Crawling: Allows accees to WiS, but only by crawling. 5% increase in crawling speed per level.
Staggering: Requires Crawling V Allows you to stand up straigh and attempt to walk. 15% decrease in likelyhood of falling over.
Walking: Requires Staggering V Allows you to walk normally. 10% increase in walking speed.
To get Walking up to V should be around 3 years training time.
(And then theres the obvious Speed-Walking, Jogging, Sprinting, Jumping, Crouching, Dancing, etc.)

On a more sensible note, if they do allow combat, your clone should be returned to you for free (paid for by the owners of the station, so that you don't sue the arse off them for not providing enough security). ---- Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa*coughcough*aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr!! |

Originally by: LordSwift Ok two things. you really need to read the back story and all the sort stories and the novel. Especially the novel because it mentions a pod pilot who was podded in combat and lost SP in interceptors due to her clone was not upgraded enough. But shes says not to worry she is retraining intercepter skill right now. She is in her room, not connected to her pod in anyway/ Basically from what i have read, our brains have had major surgery during our training to become pod pilots, their is a device that actually literally burning the knowledge etc into our brains. Little bit like the matrix i guess but much slower

Edited by: EnslaverOfMinmatar on 09/01/2009 19:15:35 Nah, you're actually sitting in a pile of goo in your pod and reading a book all day long. That's why you can't sell the book back after reading - it's covered in goo! uʍop ǝpısdn ǝɹnʇɐuƃıs ʎɯ ƃuıpɐǝɹ ǝɹɐ noʎ
