Something like that. joking aside, I ask because as an antebellum american president I hate the british wholly and absolutely - BUT - there seemed to be a consensus amongst the founding fathers that, as they went to draw up our brave nation, they should model their efforts on contemporary English law. So english law and government, circa mid 18th century, owned. But why?
