NOB!
Nobody should be max specced for any individual ship or size class of any race until they're at least decently invested, SP-wise, in skills for other size classes and races. Max speccing at the expense of versatility is just asking to get ****ed by the game designers.

Edited by: Donkee Punch on 12/01/2009 17:52:15 Just out of curiousity.. exactly WHEN were Caldari missile boats the "choice" of anyone but hard core missile runners? And when were the "Caldari" overpowered? I can't recall when a cruise Raven was preferred over a Sniperthron or Geddon for Fleet ops.
Caldari are "missile" heavy in their ship designs, since the missile de-nutting this renders most of their ships to the bottom of the usability pile. Don't bother with Ewar responses, I'm not talking Ewar I'm talking the ability to DPS like OTHER races... and as far as the Falcon goes? Great Ewar.. and is usually called Primary in short order, a Falcon pilot in gang or Fleet ops generally has the life expectancy of a Mayfly.
To my mind the ONLY way we're going to get CCP to revisit the subject of missiles being next to useless is to vote with our wallets...
Those of us who would like to see some kind of positive change with missiles join up to cancel our accounts in protest, you can always re-activate of course but at least it will force CCP to recognize that they have seriously Pizzed off a significant portion of the playerbase.
Sadly will this actually happen? Most likley not.. it's easier to whine and moan than take affimative action. |

Also because CCP isn't going to check the missile SPs vs. non-missile SPs of people who quit.

ARM Scripts ARM Scripts are non-consumable charges that modify the attributes of the module they are installed in. They are installed/uninstalled just like loading/unloading ammo. The modules that can be scripted are listed below followed by the script names in brackets.
* Remote sensor dampeners (Targeting Range Dampening and Scan Resolution Dampening)
(AKA: MASSIVE DAMP NERF)
Bandwidth
Drone bandwidth is a new additional constraint on drones which limits the drones that can be deployed. Each ship has an available bandwidth for controlling drones that all deployed drones must share. Every drone has a bandwidth requirement which must be available on the controlling ship when launching the drone. Once launched, the bandwidth required by the drone is reserved for that drone and not available to other drones. Bandwidth is reclaimed once the drone returns to the drone bay or control of the drone is lost. With bandwidth the damage output from drones can be limited while still allowing for spare drones. Drone bandwidth requirements:
* light drones: 5Mbit/s * medium drones: 10Mbit/s * heavy drones: 25Mbit/s
Ship bandwidth:
* Frigates: 0-25Mbit/s * Destroyers: 0-25Mbit/s * Cruisers: 0-50Mbit/s * Battlecruisers: 25-75Mbit/s * Battleships: 75-125Mbit/s
Exceptions for drone ships:
* Ishkur: 25Mbit/s bandwidth, 25m3 + 5m3/level drone bay * Vexor: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 100m3 dronebay * Ishtar: 125Mbit/s bandwidth, no change in dronebay * Arbitrator, Curse, Pilgrim: 50 Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 dronebay * Myrmidon: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 dronebay * Eos: 75Mbit/s bandwidth, 150m3 + 15m3/level dronebay
Improvements and Balance Changes
Ships
* The Eos has been modified as follows: the number of turret slots has been reduced to five, one medium slot has been swapped for a low slot, the drone capacity has been increased to 150m3 and the drone capacity bonus has been reduced to 15m3 per level.
* The Ares now has a new medium slot at the expense of a high slot. Also, launcher hard points have been reduced to one.
* With the exception of the Crow, Raptor and Shuttle, the agility multiplier on all Caldari ships has been reduced. Caldari ships are now more agile.
* The ECM strength bonus for the Falcon has been increased to 20%, the Scorpion, Blackbird and Griffin now have a 15% bonus.
(Note the LACK of a boost to Gallente Recons to make up for the Damp nerf.)
Trinity 1.0.1 Patch Notes, released 18 December 2007
Drones
* Drones no longer instantly recharge their shields when recalled to the drone bay.
Trinity 1.1: Boost Patch Notes, released 12 March 2008
Ships
# The Moa and Eagle now have 5 turret slots (+1 turret). # The Ferox now has 6 turret slots (+1 turret) and 1075mw (+75mw).
Patch notes for Empyrean Age, released 10 June 2008
FEATURES
Ships
Osprey Navy Issue cruiser has been added.
Caldari ships have never been renowned for their speed. With this in mind, Caldari Navy engineers set about designing the Osprey Navy Issue. The fastest Caldari cruiser in existence and a formidable missile boat, this vessel gives Navy personnel and State loyalists alike greater opportunities to conduct true skirmish warfare than ever before.
Special Ability: 5% bonus to Assault, Heavy Assault and Heavy Missile Launcher rate of fire and 10% bonus to Heavy Assault and Heavy Missile velocity per level.
* Slots: 4/5/3 * Turret hard points: 2 * Launcher slots: 4 * Fitting: 365tf, 540mw * Drones: 10/10
CHANGES
Ships
* The Helios has had its model changed. It will now use the Imicus hull instead of the Maulus hull.
(Not strictly a "nerf" but many people were upset with this. Although I liked it. )

When you get around to fixing missiles, CCP, please consider the fittings on the Eagle and Ferox. It would sure be nice to not be forced into an ACR (or an RCU).
Currently, the Caldari non-missile ships are generally balanced for PVP. The missile ships kind of took it on the nose in QR, but honestly, getting your rail skills up doesn't take THAT long, and I'm sure they will fix Missiles eventually.

Only thing I think Cal need a boost on are drone bays.
T2 Meds are intergrated in to PvP and that additional dps make Cal pussies. |

hey to each their own. I think as it stands, caldari ewar is BAR NONE the defacto, almost to the point that it's the only ewar. torp boats lay the smack down big time and cruise boats with FoF options are a great retaliation against your own races ewar.

As usual, wanting everything for nothing. Ewar is a tradeoff, if it doesn't work you're frankly screwed, and the same goes even more so for ALL the other races except they can't completely tie up several ships from 250km away. If you're losing falcons left and right then you're definitely doing it wrong.

Indeed it is. I started caldari when I first started the game and spent my first 3-4 months in nothing but a cormorant of all things, but now I'm ~60m sp wiser and I've come a long way but what I've never done is restrict myself to any single race. It's not hard to train up another race to a satisfactory level in very little time, and you have to accept the pros and cons of each race. Trust me, there is a LOT of rebalancing that's needed and if I had to pick a race that CCP needed to focus on the only reason why it would be caldari is because ECM badly needs an overhaul. Gallente have been stripped down to almost nothing and minmatar have always been pretty shortchanged, but there's still a lot of good stuff in there despite the obvious and sometimes absurd shortcomings. You can't possibly sit there and demand to be able to ueber tank, insane ewar, have drone swarms and mad dps all at the same time and all I see is pretty much whining that that's not the case.
If you have a solution, then post the idea but the sour grapes approach isn't really doing anyone any good.

That happens to be the same with every ship... Turret users with armor tanks, have to suffer low-slots for dps mods, same with missile users too. You're not gonna get a ship with uber tank and dps. ---------------------------

I'll just say that I am happy to have cross trained TO Caldari FROM Minmatar.
Wines are boring. Every race has it's weakness and strength.

LOL.
What a funny thread! My cerb is doing more damage than ever before. I recommend you use tech 2 missiles, and learn about target sig size. If mid slot target painters are too much to ask for use TP drones (Raven can use 3 large TP drones).
Stop complaining - I've been mainly a Caldari Pilot since I started and I'm fine.
