So as I said, I'm still pretty new. My new player channel finally shut down. I've been running all combat missions for the past month or so. I'm finally up to level 3's. Recently, however, I started doing some trading in an industrial to switch things up. I was wondering if the payout for courier missions was as good as combat missions? Thanks in advance! |

Nope they are not. The only ones that are good are some Storyline Couriers but even there you only get like 5 mill or so which is still under the amount you get from a average lvl 4, even some lvl 3s (bounty + salvage + loot)

The mission and bonus reward for a level 4 courier mission is roughly around the level you'd get for a level 3 combat mission, minus the bounties, loot and salvage, of course. As far as monetary return is concerned, they're not worth it at all.
They're great when you want to move through 16 missions really fast to get a storyline in order to build faction standings fast, though - not all combat missions can be blitzed fast, but even the longest courier mission will take you half an hour at most. They're also very nice for semi-afk missioning while you're reading a book (although combat pilots will probably rightly point out that the afk Domi does a more lucrative job), but for me, I have a Badger with 7k cargo space just running courier missions when I'm not feeling particularly fresh or have my undivided attention given to Eve. It's also good geography training - a couple of storylines or so and you'll be quite familiar with how the various systems there connect to each other.

The payout is not as good, but the difference comes if you are trying to earn faction standings.
You can run high level couriers alot faster than combat or mining missions. More missions = more storylines. I usually run 3-6 lvl 4 couriers an hour using a Gallente system with multiple lvl 3-4 agents. By the time weekend hits I have usually 2-4 storylines ready.
But if you are doing missions for cash, definetly not worth it. I only make more LP per hour with courier rather than combat due to having lvl 4 in all connections skills. |

They are a great way to get to story lines in a hurry.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

Level 4 courier missions are not a waste of time, depending on how far they send you. They are also a great way to get storyline missions quickly. |

Thanks guys, appreciate the responses. I guess I'll train some more of my social skills before I start doing them hard core, but it'll be nice to change things up |

almost all of them are macroers. if some come to 'defend' its either the owner(s) of the macroers not liking you disrupting their isk gain or pirates who finally spot someone that drops better loot than the macro haulers (which hardly pays ammo costs btw, though they're fun to shoot when boored)
a few of those in between are real players though, but very rare. -sig-

Because of people like this ^^ and their narrow unsubstantiated views, couriers in many low sec systems go largely undisturbed. There will be random homicidal episodes but they will not cost much as your mission ship, a hauler, is cheap and fully insurable. It is possible to fit in amongst the hordes of alleged macros and complete level 4 missions with impunity.
I have never seen a courier "macro" and I have done couriers for more than a year. I have seen what appears to be courier "farmers." Most of those alleging "macro" abuse have little to no experience running large scale courier missions. If they did they would understand just how much micro-management it takes to run them quickly and make good isk. It is not like mining and I truly doubt a "macro" exist to complete them.
Are they worth it? Hell yes! If you train the advanced connection skills and fit your ship properly (cloak, MWD, propulsion and agility mods) you can make 10-20mil an hour in a system with multiple level 4 courier agents in low sec.
Sure you could make more doing level 4 kill missions, but this requires far less SP and you are doing it in a cheap ship that is often ignored and you can even afford to loose it and buy another with ease. In fact, for a legitimate new character, courier missions are the best way to start your earning career IMHO, because of the low SP required to make good isk and gain standings.
Oh, and be sure to resist the temptation wave at the Hictors camping the gates as you jump past them. If you show any form of animation they will suspect you are not a "macro" and hunt you. Never pay ransom and never accept a convo. Just keep another fitted industrial ready at you mission spot and keep on trucking.
Hope that helps.

I've done a lot of low sec courier missioning in my trusty blockade runner and the income is good especially if you're doing low sec trade at the same time. The thing I like about it is that you move around a lot, it's a great way to get familar with that part of space and the pilots who live in it.
There's a lot of courier mission farming. I don't know how much is legit and how much not. But back in 2007 and early 2008, there were macrohaulers. Ingunn used to have them bad in the good old days when pirates would smartbomb hundreds of haulers at the exit to the station and they'd still undock over and over again.

Courier missions are HIGHLY profitable nowadays due recent chances in Blockade Runner transportships.
First of all, many of you don't understand that you can do more than one mission per time.
They key is to stack your missions. Do little research with map and eve-agents.com and you will soon notice some courier mission hubs out there. You can make over 10 M ISK per 10 minutes when you get good missions from those agents. The planning is the same than in NPC trading. Make a chain. Courier agents rarely sends you to really long way.
You can accept maximum of nine missions at the same time.
With no bubbles in low sec and ability to warp cloaked in blockade runner has made running couriers really safe.
So if you just have the will and good connection skills, you will be making more ISK per hour than someone in CNR who is salvaging their missions.

Just a bit more info, what type of agent gives best/most couriers missions? Will I get combat ones as well (which afaik have limit of 1 mission @ a time per agent)? Also, can I use those to raise my standing quickly with a combat-oriented corp (any navy or the like)?
Thanks!!!! |

They are almost certainly chinese farmbots. Sometimes they will fight back and you will get a raven spawn.
I run a couple hauling missions every few months just to see what kind of rewards you get. It's something like 800k isk and 1800lp for going 1 jump in a shuttle and back- pretty unbalanced. Though, they did at least one good thing. The level 4 hauling agents in orfrold seem to give out a ton of mining missions now.
If they would do that for ingunn, that would be great.
