It's not useless, it seems there's an issue with the operator. It's still the win for missions, and that's the Raven hull in general, ie. Raven, CNR and Golem.
Hope this helps. |

Depends on what you ask of it more than completing missions. Just grinding random missions nothing can beat the Raven-hull.
If you're after ISK/h I doubt anything can beat the Paladin which actually is followed by the Vargur and then kronos. Then Nightmare and Domi and after that a myriad of all the other ships such as the abaddon, apoc, mega, typhoon, tempest, rokh.
Then again, it's quite few almost optimizers out there. Most people either min/max or go with a very long list of criterias. Parrots, commence!

Pretty sure the current "Kings" would be Marauders in General, but general forum consensus of favortism atm is Nightmare=Paladin(if your doing Amarr missions) >Golem(/)>CNR > Kronos > Nightmare=Paladin (otherwise) > Vargur ect. I would but the Mach up there still, but it's a bit expensive. However arty can be pretty gimp atm, so flavor up to you. But Vargur is def worst Marauder atm.

Actually, the torp CNR is crap as of Quantum Rise, a cruise cnr will be better 95% of the cases.

Except for not really giving to much consideration about the forum consensus(which still argues a myriad of things I really can't agree with anyway) isn't that pretty much what I said?

All permatanked Ravens have always been subpar. First step is to fit flare and rigor rigs instead of CCC's. Dual pithi tanks are great if you have any point in fitting them, on a cruise CNR you don't. Go with a C5-L booster instead, harderners and a cap injector(You won't need to waste all cargo on boosters and the cost of boosters is neglectable at worst. For the remaining two highslots fit a smartbomb where decent and a tractorbeam. Use at the very least 3 but preferably 4 BCU's.

It does and will always do. Especially in blood/sansha missions and much less in high em-resistant missions. Cruise CNR's are not good or best at missions, they just happen to be second best at very many. |

You don't really need that much range, and with tachyons you've got zomg wtf way to much range anyway. It's a great ship, no doubt about it. Just not the most lucrative for missions in general. Parrots, commence!

Tachs on Nightmare work great, with 3x HS II + 2x Tracking Enhancer II they easily kill orbiting cruisers at around 25-30km, incoming ships tend to die even at around 20km if i manage to keep their transversal low.
I used nightmare mostly doing angel missions as im based in matar space and for that sort of missions i switched guns to SS mega pulses, 4 HS II, 1x TE II.

I see nothing wrong with the Ravens performance post-QR just gotta add a TP and mess with the tank alittle more.. Perma-Tanking setups is completely unnecessary when it comes to missions unless you run l4s semi-afk or you tend to fall asleep during missions.
If you are saying the raven is useless because you cant permarun the tank with a TP fitted then investing Isk into a Nightmare or marauder might not be the smartest idea.

Depends where you run missions/what kind of stuff you face.
My alt is still doing better in her cruise CNR in Amarr missions than Misanth would do in a Paladin. But most rats I fire at is 50-130km away. I run with 7 cruises and 4 bcu, x-l booster which I heardly have to use.
I don't touch Worlds Collide anymore tho, used to be able to pop those frigs in the 2nd room but now it's a mess trying to tank the whole room, just not worth the effort. Tested it with TP/Web etc but not worth refitting/running other ships purely for that.
Apart from that my cruise CNR actually do better than before QR. Weapon grouping is made of win. You can actually tell a difference, 1-2 volley less on most BS just from that.

The main key to a good mission ship is 3 damage mods, maybe even 4 if you have the slots. Honestly, most missions do really low DPS if you manage aggro right and there is plenty of info on various missions, you'll find a lot of mission boats get comically overtanked.
CNR/Golem are both great mission ships, with tons of tank and changeable damage type. Don't use cruise missiles on frigates, thats what T2 drones are for.
Nightmare/Paladin are great against EM weak enemies.
Rail/Sentry Domi is also a great build as well.

The best...it's tough to say...DPS wise it's probably the Nightmare, but so many factors can alter the way somebody interprets "best"...in the long run it's always down to personal preferences and play style - skill aside.
tho I haven't flown more than 2-3 of them, I tend to like a few ships in theory - not in any particular order:
* T2 Sentry Domi with 350s (armor tanked, nearly or completely afk missioning) + cheap * Nightmare - laser pwnage, tho expensive for both hull and optimal fitting. * CNR/Golem/Raven - torps are meh...u now even need painters for Cruise missiles Still, those are still missile boats with dmg type selection and versatile tank = win * Paladin is a nice alternative to the NM, and can be cheaper (in both hull and fitting) and more effective if you want to salvage as you go. U can always switch to a NM easier once you got yourself into a Pally, but not vice versa. * Many ppl like the NH too for missions...tough nut to crack, and slaughters small/mid rats. Range and versatility unmatched by other CSs... * Ishtar - tho it cannot gank and tank like a domi for lvl 4s...it can tank a lot in spacial occasions tho, and drones will slowly do the trick. more of a plex "best", tho the NH beats it me thinks Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

main recently left a .0 alliance and went back to mission running for a bit to earn some isk for a carrier.
i thought, ok, get a cnr, cruise fit it, twin b-type boosters, etc, etc...
then, for one mission, i needed something faster as gates were a ways apart. so i grabbed a cerb with a med batter t2, b-type hardener [as above], sensor booster, lse 2, ab 2 with trip bcs 2's in lows and a suitcase.
works fine with a couple of launcher rigs. this may have worked even better pre-patch anyway and i may have just not tried it. but set orbit to 100 or so and spam, spam, spam.
cheaper, faster [the ship that is, not the mission] and more fun if you want to manually fly it to remind yourself you're still alive. |

Fairly decent summary, but that you need painter for a cruise CNR is just plain bull.
Battleships, battlecruiser and cruisers die faster since weapons tacking came, t2 cruisers, frigates and t2 frigates are alot worse tho. I dunno about other people but I used drones for those kind of ships already pre-QR, now the drone tracking is noticeable so I tend to use drones + missiles on t2 cruisers (last), and purely drones on all frigs (while missiles go on bigger stuff).
All in all the mission time is exactly the same - or faster - than pre-QR. You won some (stacking) and lost some (drone tracking + sig on small crap).
I've compared running a Paladin (with Misanth), t2 fit t2 guns, just like my CNR, in the same mission from the same agent, Amarr space. It's actually slower in most cases. Range is one thing. Either I refit my Paladin between beams/pulses all time, or I have two Paladins, or I will have to struggle when things are too far/close enough. Cruises don't have that issue. Not to mention there's a crapload of missions where EM isn't the ideal damage to deal.
Paladin is nice in 20-25% of the missions you run in Amarr space, and not as nice in the other three racial areas. CNR is nice for 100% of the missions everywhere.
Tho I don't know how the missileboats do in other areas, but in Amarr space where you work ALOT with range, the cruise CNR is just kickass - and a TP is really not needed. Tho you can fit one if you want, 's not like you need all mids. I tend to run 4 hardeners so I can PvP on other alts same time I run missions. |

U maybe right...I don't do lvl 4s (ok, doing like 10 in a month is nothing), I mainly rat-hunt in 0.0 space to make a living, so... Tho I have seen improvement vs. small targets using a TP even on a cruise raven, I cannot test it in a "controlled and repeatable" environment, like mission runners do. Maybe it's inefficient for those...didn't meant to mislead the OP or sth Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

This is why you pick and choose your missions. Also you're comparing missioncompletiontimes and not isk/h. The paladin salvages as it goes, meaning all ranges >40km is pointless except for the rare occasion of a rat that spawns further away and won't come closer. The fact that it has direct damage and therefor won't "waste" damage is another great fact on it.
Having tried Golems, CNRs, Paladins and all the similar kinds of ships at the same missions there's really no arguing about the paladins superiority - IF you can chose your missions. If you barely can pick and choose go with the golem and if you're entirely out of choice and won't salvage go with the CNR using cruise. Parrots, commence!

Fair enough. But there's a point fitting the TP anyway - if you're not semi-AFK-running your missions like I do (PvPing on other char same time), you can easily drop the 4th hardener and fit a TP there. I never had a perma-setup, I run with X-L, Amp, 4 Hardener. 4x BCU in low, easy to drop one mid for a TP.
But I'm curious how it is for those not running Amarr missions, I have the benefit of operating over long ranges. Might be that people struggle more in missions where they have to move (might want an AB) and rats spawn closer up.

Best ship is race or even mission specific. As a generalization though:
For Minmatar missions: Torp Golem or Vargur For Amarr/Khanid/Ammatar missions: Paladin (or Nightmare, but you lose out on a good chunk of salvge+loot isk/hour big time then) For Caldari missions: Prolly Cruise CNR coz many of them have enemies starting at 100km I am told For Gallente missions: I suspect the Kronos, don't really know much about them though.
Generally it is a good idea for efficient missioning to be able to fly the gun Marauder compatible with your local rat types as well as a missile boat. Strictly speccing just one race like so many wannabe pvp experts swear by effectively loses you hard cash in missions. Makes you wonder why those same pvp monkeys are out of isk all the time :D |
