Originally by: Tristan no, stupid, and utterly pointless idea.
I would rather man time be spent fixing bugs and coding shiva.
it's far from pointless.
there a problem with clicking space navigation: your point of view is not the same as that of your ship, so clicking space is only truely accurate if you zoom the camera right in to get an in-ship PoV... at this point you can no longer see anything!!!
nobody is suggesting that eve is or should be a space sim, and nobody wants to use joysticks of clicky-fest tactics - i don't, but the current ship steering / navigation system is seriously limited and primitive.
I should have learnt by now that theres really no point posting on these forums, since all you get is grief and reactionary bullsh1t |

Originally by: Crowley Yes you really should of learnt.
Wait for the new Shiva UI then come back and moan if you must. Alternativly break out a hacksaw and chop a hole in the front of your pod, stick some perspex over it and quit been silly.
Until then pls do unplug your keyboad and try garotting small kittens with the cable
Hugs and kisses
rofl
except the kittens bit, which is just cruel, you nasty nasty man |

Originally by: Valan So what what you really mean is we need a FPS view as well as the 3rd person option. Not just a*****pit thrown over the 3rd person view we currently have. All it needs is a fixed camera option orientated to the correct point.
Would make combat more immersive and easier to fly accurately. Not a big deal with a BS but would really make an inty come alive.
YES.
There is ZERO coding required for this - i don't want any extra crosshairs or silly*****pit GUI stuff - all i want is to lock the camera in the place my ship is sitting, and then hide the ship model so i can SEE WHERE THE **** I'M GOING

Originally by: Tristan Your idea has been suggested several times during and since beta.
a tiny minority of people want it, but with no real reason for doing it other than "it would look cool"
why spend time coding and modeling such a thing just for the sake of it, when a huge game changing patch is being created and needs the devs time and attention.
i would rather shiva comes out with less bugs and more features, instead of "well yes the game is pretty unplayable, but look.. meowcat got her*****pit view! now she can sit there and not play the game its so buggy, but got a great view out of her window!"
Draw your own, cut it out, stick it to your monitor. now zoom the view from your ship right out. ta - da
- no coding required - no modelling required - dunno what you're on about - you obviously haven't understaood what i'm asking for (possibly my fault for not making it clearer)
edit: stop calling me 'her' |

Originally by: Tristan some ships dont even have windows.
so we definatley cant have it, cause then it would look silly.*****pit views from ships with no*****pit.
the end.
stick a bloody CCTV camera on the outside, and a TV in your pod.
some people have no imagination |

Originally by: Ariell Lucinwind If you want a cokpit view, may I suggest to change games. As others have stated, this game has it coded this way for a reason and there are many other online games you could try. IE Jumpgate (Old dying game - good community) But hey, who knows what can happen.
<<wanders back on over to DnL>>

AAAARGH!!!!
ffs
whats wrong with hitting a button to hide the ship model?
right now if i zoom the camera right in, i can see THE INSIDE of my ship - it looks absolutely rubbish
even I, with limited coding talents could write a bit of code to hide the ship model when the camera is within x distance of it.
for the tenth time - i dont want a traditional*****pit view like an FPS simulator, i just want to see where i'm going when the camera is zoomed in close
it's not that hard to understand is it? |

Originally by: cashman Meowcat, even though this is a pretty stupid idea, there is an actual forum for these kind of things.
Go explore, stop using the General Chat for what ever comes to your mind.
i give up - if you dont want general comments posted in the general discussion forum, i suggest you post a thread advising CCP to change the title
and **** off btw my suggestion is perfectly reasonable (you clearly havent actually read it if you think seeing the inside of a ship model is acceptable)
anyway, i'm off to lurk the forums and shall not post further. far too much flaming here. ~~~~)\~~~~~\o/~~~~

Originally by: Oveur Not going to happen in Shiva.
i do hope something will be done to improve the general manoeverable-ness of ships in shiva, or i shall be a bit disappointed tbh... even if this is just some extra right click options
to me, and i'm obviously in the minority so doubtless i shall be ignored, the actual piloting of ships is probably the weakest part of the game... which is a shame.
