I was conducting tests in my Crow (my replacement after Escorts got me) and realised that although the Signature radius should only be a targetting time thing, it actually has a huge effect on the hits I receive.
With 1x10Mn Y-S8 AB at 2.5KM a sec orbiting frigates at 1KM I get 0.1% of all shots fired upon me hit, with a maximum of 'barely'
With 1x1Mn Catalysed Cold with all the same tactics as above, I still get bad hits, and some wrecking.
The Signature radius (I interpret) as being the radar 'blip' size, not the physical size of the vessel, so for an attacking ship, my crow does not physically become the size of a battleship, and therefore should be no easier to hit.
Views please?
Starsi dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them. |

It's completely intentional that using a microwarpdrive to increase your transverse velocity (which counts against turret tracking in the accuracy calculations) increases your signature radius - otherwise the increase in transverse velocity would have made frigates nearly invulnerable. It's not intended that you're able to fix a medium class (10MN) AB on a frigate to get around this and fly almost as fast.

I think the change was one of the most stupid yet to come out of Iceland. It hurts the BS that are up close, like my mega, a lot too.
And frigs coudl be killed despite doiung MWD. Drones worked, untill you ruin them. -------------------------

10MB AB's not intended on frigs huh.
What are you going to do about it? Silly restrictions on mounting?
To fit one you're sacrificing a lot and I don't see the issue. At all.

I suggest you take up the issue of afterburners and dones in the ships and modules forum (there's threads covering both I believe), it does no good ranting at me, I'm merely informing you of the situation.

Maya, TomB already said he's going to prevent ships using the wrong size speed modules as part of his efforts to balance drones.

I would much rather have frigates fighting/orbiting at speeds between 250m/s and 1000m/s. Using MWD to get in or get away. Speed differences between ships mean little when mwd or +1 sized AB's are being used on autorepeat to orbit/fight.
I say nerf it.

Then missiles will slaughter you. So you HAVE to use a MWD.
And if you do, you make yourself easier to hit with guns.

Agreed. My argument holds no water until they class the missile/drone damage.
