Originally by: Merdaneth I am merely trying to remind those unknowing readers here what these people really are. Extortionists and killers. Pirate scum.
Pirates who have a conscience and code of conduct, in my experience. You wouldn't believe how many law-abiding pilots I've met who don't, and whom I wouldn't trust even half as much as I do some of Veto's more prominent members.
Veto ride surprisingly high in my personal esteem, and this is coming from a man whose career thus far has mostly involved anti-piracy work. I've worked alongside Verone in the past, actually. Without him, Jude Kopenhagen would be a drifting pod-coffined corpse somewhere near Point Genesis right now. - Captain Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

My own body count can't be far removed from Verone's. The difference being motivation.
Does it do the weeping mothers of all the people I've killed any good to know that their loved one's death happened in the name of my version of duty, decency and integrity?
It's the nature of capsuleers to ignore the large-scale implications of our actions, but to cling to the small-scale stuff as some kind of salvation. Does the rescue of one kidnapped sex-slave from one of Kruul's dives counter the weight of the body count I racked up in rescuing her?
Veto are doing what they think is the right thing. They aren't exactly the Sisters of EVE, I agree, but they're doing the traditional capsuleer thing of wanting to counteract the large-scale devastation of their usual stock in trade through smaller-scale acts of charity.
Given that every last one of us does exactly the same thing, I don't see any hypocrisy here. Or at least, none that doesn't also apply to me and to you as well.
Oh yes, and it's "Mr. Hakatain" if you wish to be formal. "Stitcher" is just my callsign. |

Talk to an Amarr in Amarrian, that's my philosophy. It's not my fault that they have a less enlightened perspective on gender equality. |

Because I'm psychic. *growls sarcastically*
Seriously? Gut instinct. Empathy. A long history of being a solid judge of character, an an even longer one of being arrogant.
Of course I don't know for certain what's going on in their heads. I'm just stating how it seems to me. |

I kind of assume that these things are implicit. |

Express an opinion, and people assume that you're leaping to a corporation's defence...
Veto don't need (or, I suspect, want) to be defended. |
