Edited by: Hacra on 12/01/2009 21:04:11 I don't know if this idea has been posted before due to the lazyness of going through all the posts in this forum.
The idea: Every item would have Quality as you manufacture them, and when you manufacture the item you would have lets say 75-95% chance of making the item 100% quality, what is the item(s) we currently have on market. Skills would effect how well you succeed to build the item.
Example 1: You fail to create perfectly a Megathron. Your ship quality ends up being 87%, this would mean the ships shield, armor and hull hitpoints would be effected, ship would have 13% less hitpoints. (thus making the ship 13%? cheaper in market and also refine to 13% less minerals)
Example 2: You fail to create perfectly a 10Mn Afterburner II. Your item quality ends up being 95%, which would effect the boost amount the afterburner gives (normally 135% + your skills) so the 135% would have 5% penalty making it give 128.5% boost + your skills.
This could give interesting twist to the market and specially how the modules/ships would be used. "Perfect quality" items would end up being bit expencive on markets but even 95% could be purchased for significantly lower price.
What do you think?

How do you distinguish between the perfect and imperfect ships or modules on market?
You could have sorta "factory refurbished" models on contracts, but unless the whole market system is revised, selling variable quality goods under the same heading would be an enormous undertaking, leading to much complaining, especially when someone doesn't read the forums/patch notes and winds up with an inferior battleship that they bought off market, assuming it was perfect.

After the item name it would say for example Q: 96/100 or if the item is "perfect = 100%" it would say Q: Perfect or Q: 100/100 OR have quality tab which would simply indicate the quality 96
