Are you saying that two separate roaming gangs of 400 people each can't come across each other accidentally?

Yes because before stackless you saw 1000+ battles
The problem isnt the servers imo. Its the way the games designed that blobing is a very viable tactic. Take that away and you take your problems with the server away.
Keep upgrading the servers. Your just extending the upper limit before the servers crash.

Edited by: Mormanta on 12/01/2009 22:36:08 While you are at it, could you also reinforce the part between the systems? I've been in bridge for over 2 hours
edit: woopie for alt posting by mistake.

It's unfortunate that blobbing is the way of today's Eve when it comes to small gangs, but huge fleet fights over strategic systems are fine as they are (except for the lag.) I mean, it's beneficial to force a big fight when you believe you can win and destroy billions of ISK of your opponents' ships in a few hours, along with billions more in POS components after their counter-POS bashing fleet is dead. Sovereignty changes should require large investments of people and ships.

omg this is sooo simple...use a god bleeping blade server...to distribute the lag

if you distribute the lag of 1000 people on each blade, and get 80 blades per 40k people....you will not have any lag |

Very clever. I wonder why CCP didn't think of it.
Oh wait. They did. |

then if they are useing this...then add more blades per capita |

It's not a case of needing more blades per capita. It's a case of not being able to dynamically shift a solar system from a 600-ship-max blade to a 2000-ship-max blade on the fly. |

someone never passed their 'Distributed Computing' module at Uni.
There is a point at which the process of chunking up and distributing the work causes more IO load and lag than just waiting for the CPU to free up.
Needless to say, CCP probably didn't get a the blade in place for you if its that bad with only 800 in system.
When they can afford one blade per system, that will be the day I can no longer afford the $500 a month subs |

CCP was informed that the node needed to be reinforced as per the 24 hours in advance thing according to alliance leaders.
Either they just didn't, or even with it reinforced it ****ed out. |
