I'm thinking of getting rid of my tempest and training for another bs, after the turret changes i want something that doesn't sit there wasting ammo, but something that sits there blowing things up. (also i want a good miner)
My 1st thought was to go for a megathron, but i thought, na i cant armor tank too well 
My second thought was, go for an apoc, amazing miner, and a pretty goos ship. training time is the problem.
My third thought was the raven, ultimate damage but bad mining.
Suggestions anyone?

Armageddon has a 5% ROF bonus per level meaning it outdamages an apoc :D
Plus a Suicide Armageddon is too uber to mess with 1v1.

Apoc can have excellent defense and very good offense. Geddon doesn't quite have the options the Apoc does.
If you want all round great ship, hard to go wrong with apoc. If PvP is your only concern, then geddon is smarter choice as it's cheap and has powerful offense.

An apoc is what you're looking for, solid pvp, solid miner, solid npc (against bloods anyway). A gankageddon will get you kills very fast, and just as fast, will get you killed.

Megathron can tank brilliantly if you're close-range (i.e with plenty spare pg for 2x lrg armour repairers and a heavy cap booster).
Even at long-range you can get a moderate tank setup - you really don't need massive tankage for long-range.

Megathron can tank brilliantly if you're close-range (i.e with plenty spare pg for 2x lrg armour repairers and a heavy cap booster).
Even at long-range you can get a moderate tank setup - you really don't need massive tankage for long-range.

Raven is about to get a swing from the nerf bat
Apoc/Arma are ugly and Amarr
Mega looks evil, and kinda like a Minmatar Rifter anyway :) It also figts extremely well.

Hmm, if any ship is due for an 'adjustment' it's the apoc.
I'd go Megathron or Apoc tho, since oyu dont like Ravens.

Dude, forget the Apoc. Stick to your Tempest and further increase your skills for it. From the feedback in the forums I suppose it or better its weapons to receive some love soon, as almost everyone agrees there's something wrong with the artillery cannons...

Recent changes have resulted in 2 things:
1)Sheild tanking don't work unless your scorp/raven
2)1400mm don't hit closer than 40km
Which means the Tempoest was screwed...
Change those 2 things, it still rocks :)

You can do the exact same thing in a Tempest beside your main armament, 2 Heavy Nosferatus, 1 Cap Recharger, 6 PDU t2.
These setups are crap and inflexible though.
You could use a Cap Booster for both, that's even harder to do for a Raven as missiles fill 2/3 of your cargo space. They also require good logistics and a permanent supply with charges.
That you can shield tank your Scorpion is right - but that's just a waste of its strengths as you must use its med slots for it.
Conclusion: Shield tanking is borked. Besides this, artilleries are too. Missiles are fortunately not. Result: Raven can hold its water, (long range) Tempest cannot.

Just the Tempest in combination with 1400 sucks.

According to my friends calculations, the apoc needs 3 damage mods to outdamage the armageddon, if they use the same setup of guns (the apoc can of course use 1 more turret, like when using mega pulse, but otherwise, the arma does more damage)

You're forgetting the fact that the gank setup on the armageddon includes 8 tech 2 heatsinks.

Thanks for the input on the 1200mm. I'll go play around with them.
Probably cheaper than getting a stinking Caldari BS anyway.

This extra mining laser will cost u 60M, ask yourself how much ores must mine with this single laser to reballance 60M and answer yourself. :)

I'm not buying an apoc for a start, im trading it with my corp for my tempest (unless i can find a better deal).
And mining ark in a 0.0 with my corp, hmm, not long.
