Linux is awesome if you have a tremendous amount of patience. I tried Mandrake and Gentoo for awhile but got fed up with how complicated every little thing had to be. They can tack on as much nifty GUI stuff as they want, the OS is still sadistic at heart.

ōheh, you can install SP2? you paid for your copy of windows?ö Its more a case of SP2 is beta and I donĘt like installing beta softwere on my main PC. ItĘs beta for a reason and thatĘs because it has too many bugs to be final.

Nope.
Linux is free if you have a large brain. |

So, back to the point. Has anyone determined if DX 9c helps EVE performance at all, or is even stable?

To keep a CPU running at 5GHz with a temp at -12¦C you'll need around 1.5KW of cooling system, and the cooling system would be something like half a washingmachine's size...
Sorry mate, but i'm not accepting such a solution :)
BTW, Linux is far more stable than windows; I never rebooted a linux server except to change it's location or to add/remove some hardware parts.

Can you even get to 1.25GB?
I thought it could only increase in multiples of 512MB due to mobo's only having a maximum of 3 ram slots?

DirectX 9.0c Redistributable for Software Developers - Multilingual
This download provides the DirectX 9.0c end-user multi-languaged redistributable that developers can include with their product.
It better be stable. This is the version that will be included on all your new games disks.

You can't attempt to judge the stability because the client is laggy, the network isn't performing, and I can't see any improvements (if anything, screen freezes at gates are more prevalent).
