How many times have I had to listen to one of my less industrious "carebear" corp members ask me for a loan to buy a new cruiser the only problem is I'm just not in the business of playing this game to aquire isk only to "give" it away to all those who ask me for it regardless of whether they're in my corp or not and especially not when I have offered to "give" the cruiser to the lazy carebear corp member who is not willing to spend the time to do what's necessary to get the new cruiser. Let's not focus on the fact that most Carebears aren't even willing to learn the skills needed to properly use a cruiser but that's another topic.
Banking System:
EVE needs a Banking System that can make loans to players based on Credit Ratings. Credit Rating would increase when small sums are borrowed then paid back within a certain time-frame. Credit Rating should be damaged when someone breaks an Empire Law and is Criminally Flagged. Miss a payment on your Frigate and you might not be able to get a good low percentage rate on your Cruiser, etc.
Way back when I began playing I did it the hard way and I earned the isk I needed to play the game. Sure it was difficult and even boring but now I don't have to mine as much as I used to but then I also ain't out there losing ships every day of the week either.
Anyway, give the Carebears a Banking System cuz I don't make no loans... - LMAO |

A large enough corp could probably do something like this, though they would need an excellent enforcement/collection arm. ------------------ Silver Night Director - Production and Science (\_/)This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature (O.o)to help him on his way to World Domination. (> <) |

With the current inability to link alts with mains, and other necessities a player corp wouldn't really be able to pull this off.

tie the loans to an account then, the whole loan system is not a bad idea at all. make it so a new skill called loan shark or something is out there, the higher your level the more you can loan. But you would be protected. The station that the loan is processed would of course take a cut. How big a cut would depend on your standing with the corp that owns the station.

Edited by: Caius Crucius on 27/07/2004 02:23:24 How about this: when you get a loan, you also submit to being bugged. It's a biological tracker, so it stays with you if cloned. With it, if you can't or won't pay the loan back, the corporation can track you down anywhere you are and kill you with impunity, or can give that ability to another corp so they can track you down. Authorities won't interfere because it's legal retalliation.
I would like a savings account, though. Not only would it generate interest, but I'd be able to set aside funds for a rainy day, just in case I have to spend too much at one time.

I'm a carebear (mostly) and I only put in two or three hours a day on average. I still earn over 20mil a week and have over 88mil in the bank. I've just written off payments due from my corp of around 20mil. I figure the corp leaders have enough to worry about without sorting out payment that I don't really need.
I'm about to get my second BS (an Apoc) and it won't cost me much because over the last week I've mined almost all the minerals needed for it.
You can earn a perfectly decent 'wage' in empire just from mining so any carebear who needs a loan needs to rethink their strategy -- (Battle hardened miner)

Or needs to try playing for more than one day.

Actually, I had thought on this. What it would require is investors in powerful corporations/alliances. Say that many alliances invest 100mil at 10% interest. Give out 10mil isk loans to -CORPORATIONS ONLY- at 20% interest, and only those that have been around for a month or more or something, and have something to lose. If they don't pay up, all the investors declare war/kos on the corp, thereby providing the punishment for not paying. There are problems, but it's a little more solid than most banking ideas... the main problem being most of the time it isn't corps who need loans, it's players. Just throwing it out there, as I had actually considered it. Maybe someone could hammer it out |
