Soul Reaver	Posted - 2003.06.18 14:06:00 - [1] Hi All When I played UO I could take on 4 or 5 other players and employ many differing tactics to A. Stay alive and B. Defeat them It appears to me in this game at the moment that if I am faced with two characters in MOAS like mine. I might aswell run away with my T8 MWD. As I have no chance at all. I am still using mine even though its nerfed my shields and last night I was glad I chose to equip it. Warped into Mara and it was only the fact i came out of warp with it running that I made the gate alive due to being webbed etc etc. Superior firepower will always win the day regardless of tactics at the moment and you dont have much time to react to be true. I got a shot or two off with my twin 250 prots but by the time I made the gate my shields were 20% and this is with a VM and a shield recharger to. This is alas very dissapointing from a PvP persepective. Perhaps the sitation will improve or get better with longer battles I.E weapons dont deal as much damage or perhaps a pilots skills across the board will make him a superior fighter. You go out on your own and sooner or later an organized enemy is going to nail your butt. Congradulate yourslef on your ability to have survived that situation.

If you want to run around on your own, forget "nail his ass" modules and stick with "run away fast" modules. If you run with the gang, you fit according to your role, be it close range firepower, long range forepower, EW/ECM or cargo holder. In most MMOGs the team play is very vague, basically it boils down to everyone fights on their own but at the same time, there is very little cooperation between team mates and in any case, you can't "refit" a fantasy character when you want to go solo. x a n e

However, 2 superior firepowers vs. 1 superior speed is a closer thing. 2 SFs against 1 ECM monster would likely be even closer. Etc etc. EVE is more like a game of chess than a simple contest of who's got the bigger gun. A well put together ECM kit can completely eliminate a big gun's advantages. A speed loadout can get you away from the fight before the big guns can finish you off (which may be the same as winning, depending on your goals). I'm not sure if a pure defense (shield boosters and such) route is viable at this point, but it may be. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of ways to put a ship together in this game. Some ways are more effective than others, but there really does not appear to be a single 'ultimate config' out there. Of course, there are certain equations you just can't get around: 10:1 odds will generally trump just about any config you can put together. Those are just the facts of life. Better petition for a bug cause normally as soon as ya shoot back ya wouldn't be able to jump due to act of agression, no matter if ya initiated it or defended yerself. Hoshi	Posted - 2006.04.01 22:34:00 - [23] I remember a battle I had where we had 5 ships, 2 battleships (raven + domi), 1 battlecruiser (ferox) and 1 assault ship (wolf). We went up against a group of total 18 ships, cruisers and frigates (incl 1 blackbrid). In the end we had 12 ship kills + 3 pods and 0 losses. Wrayeth	Posted - 2006.04.01 22:43:00 - [24] In the situation where you were outnumbered two-to-one by ships of the same class, there were at least three tactics you could've employed to win the fight. First, if they were fitted for long range with railguns, fit for short range with blasters and a heavy tank, then warp in right on top of them and proceed to pwn. Second, if they were fitted for short range with blasters, or even with a standard rail setup with no mods to boost their range, fit for extreme range with rails, sensor boosters, and tracking computer II's and attack from beyond the range at which they can fire back. Third, ignore tanking entirely and fit a number of spatial destabilizer II's in your mids (Caldari racial ECM jammers). Jam them and kill them. 'Nuff said. There are certainly other ways to take them down solo using the same ship, but those were the three that come to mind immediately. -Wrayeth "Look, pa!
