I've studied much history to either get a Ph. D. in the damn subject abound the WWI and WWII era, and things in EVE seem to be quite alright to me so long as there are several paths for races to pursue. The following may belong here for in the "Ideas" section.
1) Revisions and buffs to racial weapons: T3 notwithstanding, we do need a real appeal and advantage between races in what they prefer. For example, the Gallente and Minmatar alliance ought to have a combined fleet of small and agile Minmatar ships combined with heavy and durable Gallente ships. We don't need parity between ship classes, but viable combinations between races. And to fit the current scenario, I'd rather see extremely agile Minmatar ships, from frigs to BSs, complementing the slower drone spewing Gallente. I'd also love to see the power of lasers INCREASED to reflect the overwhelming raw destruction the Amarr can inflict. Light, and however it is focused, will retain its value of energy for an extremely long distance, absent a black body like black holes and stars. I wish the Caldari had faster missiles like WHAT WE HAVE ON THIS FRIGGIN PLANET EARTH with weapons of mass destruction. I wish we had effective POINT DEFENSE against missiles, instead of the defunct missile vs missile defenders we have now. Ask your ballistic engineer. He'd ask for a pay raise and see that missile defense will come true "some day."
2) Defenses: As noted, missile defense is unrealistic, especially in the scenario that EVE takes place. We have much more advanced physics than peeps in EVE do, so at least please update the technology to something either more in line with RL here on Earth or go beyond it, to have point defense weapons that will attack missiles with short-range guns/blasters. We are flying advanced ships in the nth century. Missiles should track and detonate better. Why not add a value to reduce missle damage by adding armor plates instead of nerfing the effective sig radius? I won't touch the shield defense, as, despite being a Rapier pilot myself, I'd rather see more realisticness and damage taken from a wave-based defense.
3) The damage types are silly. Merge at least Kinetic and Explosive. These two are quite identical. So I said it. I'm sure some ancient one has pointed this out before as well. I'm just rather disturbed at the artificial difference between something that smacks you (kin) and something that smacks you (exp). If you need an example, I recommend mixing a few fertilizers and such that I am not sure whether it is safe to post here or anywhere, but go ahead and detonate it. You'll feel the explosion and the kinetic 'push' from it. The Caldari's racial specialty is Kin, which is fine. The Gallente's main damage type is also Kin, if one uses the damn hybrid ammo. I surmise that, although the damage types will decrease, the realisticness will increase if we merge the silly damage types together. I think the Amarr ought to have an advantage, for the moment, for energy weapons, while the Minmatar struggle with Kin/Exp weapons, so long as we have parity with ship types and volume of participants. It's OK for having a tough BS in a fleet, but clearly, as many peoples with brains have already done, we can deal with the advantages of such behemoths.
I just want New Even to be more realistic, ofc.
