I am bored at work playing EFT warrior (EveHQ actually) with different shield or armor tanks.
I have limited access to ships/modules so I am testing combinations and looking at the "Tank Ability" result.
So what is the max DPS one can expect from a 0.0 belt spawn?

A lot. ...but on a serious note, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

a 800mm plated AC rupture can orbit fast enough to avoid getting hit by most turret battleship spawns.
depending on what you're hunting you probably don't need to tank.

If you're sitting still and just letting them pound on you, a lot - probably on the order of 700+ dps for the very nasty ones. Get close to the BS (well, non-missile-spewing BS), keep your speed up, and your transversal will do much of the tanking for you. T1 hardeners and a medium rep will do it for you as long as you are fast enough and/or have a decent buffer, as long as you fly carefully. |

A well fit Vexor can comfortably survive the DPS and take down multiple BS spawns in 0.0.

Unlike missions and 'plexes, belt spawns are small enough that the most effective form of tanking is simply killing them quickly enough. Just have sufficient buffer and some means of repairing dmage between belts and make sure that you cna put out enough DPS to bring them down quickly. |

Lets try again:
Here is my Dominix's tank fit for 0.0 Sansha rats:
MIDS: 3x Cap Recharger II 2x Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
LOWS: Large Armor Repairer II Damage Control II 2x N-Type EM Hardener I N-Type Thermic Hardener I Magnetic Field Stabilizer I Capacitor Power Relay II
EveHQ says it tanks 325 DPS and I only saw it repair less than what it was taking with 3x1.55m sansha spawns (for the minute until the first BS died)
Then I moved to Angel Space and adjusted it a little bit:
MIDS: 3x Cap Recharger II 2x Omnidirectional Tracking Link I
LOWS: Large Armor Repairer II Damage Control II 2x N-Type Explosive Hardener I N-Type Thermic Hardener I N-Type Kinetic Hardener I Capacitor Power Relay I
EveHQ says this tanks 259 against Angel rats and yeah, I definitely needed to kill one of the bs or had to warp off.
So, it is safe to say around 300 DPS to be the magic number?

Not much; they'll slowly bleed through 200 DPS tank.
Anyway, its preditable 0.0 system, with time as your most precious resource.
1) GankTank : Fit for damage, and have some buffer hps with minor active tank. 2) Have something that can kill frigates (those rare tacklers) fast 3) Aim the max tank against the biggest spawns, not to average faction type.

200-300dps is max usually, best to have a good dps.

I had a large shield booster raven, with 3 hardeners, mwd, a painter, with cccs, some bcus, and pdus, with torps
some rats would get the shields down a bit, but well, I killed em nice and fast, usually tried to maintain around 50% shield.
did I mention I have really bad torp skills (torps 2, 900k sp in missiles, and 512k in bombardment 5) and at the time had only t1 shield hardeners.

Depends on true-secure of the system I belive.
BS belove 1M/bounty just need about 150 to 180 EFT-Defense against the spezific damage-type if you use a slow ship.
Some faction-spawn can dish out heavy damage, the more bounty the rats have the more damage they do.

Edited by: Mskpath3 on 16/01/2009 00:34:33 Those are not very good Domi setups, especially the Angel one. For Angels, you want 2 LAR 2's, and a 4 hardener tank (2 explosive, 1 thermal, 1 kinetic). 1 LAR II is not enough. Even a LAR II and a MAR II is not enough.
My uber deep-space Angel Domi setup (drone boat) is :
Low : 2 LAR II, 2 explosive, 1 kinetic, 1 thermic hardener. CPR II Mid : 5 Cap Recharger II High : Whatever.
Rigs : 2x Auxiliary Nano pump. 1 CCC
Tanks 570 dps permanently. That may not appear fabulous, but you're talking angels which require an omni tank. Switch up to a Gurista/kinetic tank (80/20 kinetic/thermal profile, using 3 kinetic and 1 thermic hardener), and you get a massive 1300 dps perma-tank. That's the kind of thing that will sleep through even the toughest anomalies, and makes an excellent 8/10 or better point ship - though you'll need remote reps for the really nasty ones.
Domi is teh awesome tanking machine.

Use a Drake and go to sleep (almost ) while ratting. Nothing will break its tank (other than someone trying to gank you ) |

a t-1 fit drake, raven, or geddon will do it just fine
drake might need to use transversal sometimes. |
