Heyas, i'm just back into the game after a long layoff and am trying to decide on which ships I want to end up flying. I fly Minmatari, working on Cruiser 5 atmthe into T2 Med AC/Arty. I'm not planning on getting into the huge fleet battles, more of a gang/semi-soloist when it comes to PvP. I like to be versatile and I figured that Commandships with the Warfare links might be a good path for me, and was the original path i was going to take up before my time off of the game. There's been alot of changes i've come to see, and am wondering if these ships are still viable or if i'm better off lookin into something else. Appreciate the help. |

Your rapier pilots and tacklers will love the Sleipnir you bring on roams. Or you could hop into a Claymore if you like big gang fights and logistics ships (you might be sitting at a POS though). |

Edited by: BiggestT on 18/01/2009 03:25:14 You're in luck, the sleip is about the only ship that can fit a warfare link and still run a viable pvp setup. Claymore is also good if you're looking at the fleet boosting role (though by you're post i'd say the sleip wld suit you more).
Just dont look at the performance difference between a sleip and a cane or you will feel bad (ie not a huge difference). EVE history

I fly a sleipnir and a hurricane, trust me there is a big difference between the two, the sleipnir gets the falloff range bonus (Same bonus the vagabond gets), this makes a huge difference to your dps, to compete the hurricane needs to use ambit extension rigs, further weakening it's tank.
The extra falloff adds a lot more to your damage then you may realise, it basically means you can afford to use EMP in situations where you'd be stuck using barrage on the hurricane. Put simply the sleipnir rocks, in my opinion it's the best AC gank boat around at the moment.
The only thing I dislike about the sleipnir is that it is hard to fit tackle on it without gimping your tank, ironically enough the Claymore has the extra midslot that allows just this... |

If you're well off, CS are good choices for small gangs. But in the grand scheme of things, they suck because of their terrible cost-effectiveness. |

if your willing to work on your leadership skills and actually fit the command links (unlike most setups I see around) they are amazing ships and your corpmates will love you.

Seems like the CS's are what i'm after. I fully intend on working my way into my leadership skills for the warfare links, get as much outta my ships as I can. Probably give both Claymore and Sliepnir a go around once i'm able. Until then, time for some Hurricane fun. Thanks again.

I would say it is alright, except for the booster going for 1.5bil on contracts. |

If you have the money and the time for the skills i would go CS . CS are the most fun ships to fit because all possible combination's are open due to the large amount of slots and pow/cpu. Ok bs also but bs have a specific role Hacs and generally cruiser shape ships(Heavy interd, recons) mostly have a standard setup that you can make some changes to it but mostly its the same
Sleipnir Ok with good skills I have 2 main setups the first is for more small gangs and solo and has more hitpoints and also 220 guns so you can target a wider range of ships 1)full rack of 220 and a smartbomb in HIGH 3xLSE II, 10 MWDII, INV II (it gives 15k shield) in MEDS 1xREactor contr II, 1x1600 plate (it gives 10k armor), 1x DCU II, 2xGyroII in LOWS
rigs anti thermal shield and shield extender (it give total 17k shield with good res)
2)the second is full out damage and shield passive tank it has 425 but with the two tracking enc it has good trakcing even with barrage 1)full rack of 425 and a smartbomb in HIGH 3xLSE II, 10 MWDII, INV II (it gives 15k shield) in MEDS 1xtracking ench(or 2x)), 3xGyroII in LOWS
rigs anti thermal shield and shield extender (it give total 17k shield with good res)
Both setups have 7xturrets and a smart bomb that you NEED or else you can die from an isthar!!! Also i found that passive tank is more secure these days since less solo play you do and more gang play also. Finally i heard that with good modules and slots and full rack of snake implants the sleipn is going like a vaga so that must be uber

minmatar command ships are really good additions to a gang, teh claymore obviously for the larger gang. here's my setups, the sleipnir can solo too if you want.
sleipnir
7x220mm vulcan autocannon II 1x skirmish warfare mindlink - interdiction
10mn MWD II dread guristas x-large shield booster invulnerability foeld II medium electrochemical cap booster (800's) faint warp disruptor
3x gyrostabilzer II 1x local inertia stabilizer 1x IFFA damage control
em and thermal rigs warrior II x8
claymore larger gang, needs to be on field and not die.
5x 220mm vulcan autocannon II 3x skirmish mindlinks
10mn mwd II medium cap booster II 2x invulnerability field II 1x shield boost amplifier II 1x dread guristas x-large shield booster
1x co processor II 2x power diagnostic system II damage control II
kin and thermal rigs
warrior II's
teh claymore needs to live if it's on the same field, other options are to fit for range with arty and less tank.
both are nice ships to fly, i usually don't fly in gangs big enough to make the claymore worthwhile over the sleipnir.
and you get to enjoy the hurricane whilst training up, again, still a nice BC.

I got 5mill in leadership and I feel kinda gipped. Im constantly vying for fleet booster; either asking for it and making sure I still have it. Its nice with a mindlink in, but you only really get to utilize it if you're flying a CS, as BC's are gimped with a module in.
For all that time I put into it (5 mos or so) I could have been in my caps that much sooner, or, had carrier 5 already.
IDK, I trained leadership up cause I have 20+ char with only lvl3 in the adv skill.
jaded leadership owner out. |
