Hey there,
So I am training a PVP pilot.. I do not plan on playing him extensively over the next 3-4 weeks while he trains up some basic skills and I earn more capital! That said, I have two neural remaps that I feel I should use. I noticed almost all skills in my queue either use Int/Mem or Per/Will. So I will remap, train one group of skills, remap, and train the other.
So.. which group of skills do I do first? I am really nervous of training one group of skills, but missing some key skills after a remap that will cost days of training time. Maybe the answer is just plan all of my skills out? If so.. |

Answer is neither Perc/Int is the favored setup for newbie pilots
They are the primary attributes for all ships weapons and most fitting things. You'll find that primary has a much more significant effect on training time than secondary.
Later on once you got your general base down, you can plan and redistribute accordingly. Also look up EVEMon to aid you in skill planning, it include a remap planning feature. There is a fine line between a post and a signature. |

You have to remember that per/wil will boost training times for ships and gunz but will seriously cripple training for defensive modules and support skills like navigation, engineering, etc. You WILL need t2 damage control, reppers, tracking enhancers, shields, propulsion mods, scram, web and such.
Also t2 gunz are not so great if you can't overheat a s**t out of them, Thermodynamics should be rather high on your list of priorities as it can greatly affect performance of your ship in all areas (overheated ab -> you go faster, overheated repper -> you tank more damage, etc.)
So as poster above said, go with int/per and train all at relatively equal pace and then think about remap to sth more specialized. I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

Hello Arc Typ
I would suggest Learning about attributes can be found here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Attributes_in_EVE
This will give you the best ideas in how to setup your attributes
I hope this answered your question.
Feel free to contact me in-game if you have any more questions.

Because it bears repeating:
For a new character, the best use of the first free remap is ALWAYS Perception/Intelligence. Always.
... there are exceptions, but if you're one of the exceptions then you're making a very specific form of specialized alt that can do only one thing, and are not looking at the new citizens' forum. |

I disagree, if you are training drones or industry (mining) which a lot of rookies do. See the second link above. |

Well, I'd advise a rookie against going straight into a specialized (and, in the case of mining, boring) career. So I sort of disagree on those grounds alone, rookies need to mess around with things like exploration, mission running, and maybe some pvp stuff as well as indy with their first month or two of SP.
If you end up preferring industry, that's fine, and you've still benefited significantly versus the default map and not lost that much versus a mem-boosted map. Your first remap with a new character generally lasts, what, a couple months or so before you know for sure you have your basics down and can work out a detailed training plan? And if you discover that you hate mining you don't have to waste your second bonus remap going back to a true generalist map to do something else. |

Mining aside (boy does that strike a nerve with the haters) as I documented in the links I posted above, the reason I don't like perception > intelligence or perception = intelligence mapping is because it completely ignores memory.
Memory is the primary to drones & industry skills, and secondary to all the core skills a new pilot needs. Ignoring memory hurts the overall skill gain, as I documented in the links I previously posted.
New pilots need to focus more on the core skills than ships and weapon systems. Once they get some core skills under their belts that will help them in every ship, then they can work to expand upon the ships and weapon systems they choose to use.
Our disagreements aside, almost anything is better than the default mapping. |

Thanks for all of the replies everyone!
I made up a 410 day Evemon plan, did optimize attributes, and as everyone predicted Perception/Intelligence was what came out the most efficient. I guess that is the path I will take to speed up my training! Thanks again for all of the tips. |
