I'm probably going to get flamed to Midd*****rough and back for this.....
Look at Ships and Modules forum, look at the tech II bp's released, look at where the focus of most CSM questions are, look at where most of the arguments are caused.
Does anyone feel the miners/scientists/traders/and other non-PvP (yes, I know most things in this game are PvP but I'm talking about the Lock, F1, F2, F3, F4 kind of PvP) specializations are being ignored?
Where are Elite Drones? Where are Tech II industrials? Where are Tech II expanders? What happened to Morphite?
Hell, CCP have even ruled out market scams with the new price warning message!
Perhaps this is why the forums are so fractious whenever the pvp'er/carebear debate comes up - perhaps PvP is being treated as the Golden Child by CCP with atention lavished upon it in droves whereas the other groups are left out and feeling like a frekcled redheaded stepchild.
I don't like mining and all that stuff because PvP is more fun but perhaps CCP should look at changing things around for the other groups because it's all a bit stale. Even the tech 2 release was a bit of a let down - what happened to delopmental research? the lottery is just a silly idea.
Just my thought's feel free to point out where I went wrong (as usual)

Yikes... much as I hate to admit it (as I am a PvP addict), Josh has a good point. No T2 Industrials, no specialized mining ships, etc... Not to pile onto the Devs problem list, but I could see where the game could use a little more content in the non-violent areas as well.
Oh, and I agree with the pop-up messages in the market. If you buy something for 1000x what it's worth, you deserve to get taken for a ride (as I once did for a 1.5 million ISK shuttle... ). -

Yeah the PvP focus does seem to be a little "shoot" centric thats for sure.
I think everyone is holding out for Shiva though. -------------------------------------------- Dead

Nafri read my mind.
T2 miner stuff = more corp mining ops = more kills during a war. -

I set Avon up to be a researcher when Eve was released. I wanted to be able to improve BP's and do reverse engineering (both promised at the end of the beta)
... still waiting.
On the bright side at least my attributes now better suit PvP training, my (relatively) low Willpower held me back quite a lot compared with the PvP-centric characters created at the same time. ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

Edited by: cashman on 28/07/2004 10:27:53 Miners and manufactorers are getting neglected. At least the PVPers gets attention. But as things are atm, I hope they don't decide to "balance" mining/manufactoring
I agree with you Joshua

Everyone knows that eve was realised with a really broken PvP system. It was badly designed and badly implmented. There was no semblance of balance between ship classes ship weapons, modules, races etc etc etc.
Basically their balance was completely fubared. Why are we seeing so much PvP focus now? To fix those problems of course. PvP is a high risk, high stakes area of the game. You put in billions of isk in BS's in a fleet battle, you want to know that the system you are betting on isn't completely whack.
And this is why PvP receives so much attention. If Eve was chess and was completely balanced, we'd be asking for content, not PvP changes.
Hence I wouldn't see it as a problem at the moment, its just a phase, to get the system sorted before shiva's arrival. CCP made a big mistake in the past of doing half measures to fix their PvP system (I bet you can think of a few.) because they weren't focused. Lets not spoil this now.

Partly this is due to so many missing tech 1 blueprints. Sure, many have entries, but most have never had any copies to buy.
Where are the cargo expander 1s? Let alone the tech 2 modules
For that matter, where are STANDARD mining drone 1s?
It's hard to build tech 2 on a half complete foundation of tech 1.

Edited by: Shadowthrone on 28/07/2004 15:30:56 The problem is longetivity
everyone who plays eve initally does mining/agent missions and then moves on to npc hunting. Theses activites are intially fun but soon dreadfully boring and reptitive and only a means to an end ie making isk. EVE would no have survived as game this long if there wasnt a progression in characters from miners>agnet missions>npc hunting>PVPing.
The players who play the game the longest ie almost a year are probabaly the PVP population and its in CCPs interests to keep them happy

blue prints for cargo expander 1's were available.
If you can't buy them try blowing up NPC haulers

About 50% of all updates since castor have been changes in the agent system which is probably the only part of EVE that is in no way PvP. Most players that don't PvP are running missions and that part of the game is getting a lot of attention. I've been running missions since the start and the system is nothing like what it was at first. PvP is getting a lot of attention these days but I think it was needed and most of the improvements are really great and make the game a lot better so I don't think they are in any way wrong for focusing on this.
