Whatever happened to the ISS?
I just got my brand spanking new shiney viator and i was thinking about running into 0.0, buying some high end low M3 goods and bringing them back into empire for some cash money profits.
Anyway, loooong ago when i used to live in 0.0 before my 13 month break from eve the ISS existed. Whatever happened to them? Is there something like them around??
I only ask because most big alliances dont let neuts dock in their stations. So accepting contracts / buying things in nullsec is only possible if i stay within the NPC controlled regions like stain and GW.
If theres no longer something like ISS around, does anyone know which alliances or outposts allow neuts to dock? Is there a way of checking this?

The only alliance of consequence that'll let you dock will be CVA and their pets.

after a history of conflict with ISS, IAC eventually declared war on them. This prompted ISS to hire MC and call in favours from BoB and LV. AAA ended up weighing in on IAC's side though which caused MC to run away and the rest of their support to vanish.
Then they got rolled by the RSF et al as we killed LV and they ended up becoming BoB pets for a while in fountain before managing to get evicted there too. After that they died a slow, silent death in NPC space somewhere afaik
man that was a long time ago... back when AAA were a relevant pvp alliance |

ISS lost its neutrality due to bad management and overstretching itself. They basicly stumbled in game what in rl you find on a much slower pace. In war zones there are no neutrals no matter what hollywood tries to make you believe.
Goons are trying to look important and relevant again but in fact they didnt have to much to do with ISS's downfall. ISS downfall was its own fault.

0.0 npc markets usually have some good deal, although brining goods into 0.0 will probably make you more.

To clarify on the "Why ISS Died" topic...
ISS made a private agreement with LV to build and manage an outpost for LV. When the Goons started steamrolling LV, simultaneously IAC agreed to help KOS to take the LV/ISS outpost away.
While ISS was focusing on protecting this newest outpost, they were unable to do anything to defend any of their neutral outposts, and these were either sold or outright taken.
LV was too busy being beaten down to help ISS, while ISS ultimately was unable to fend off the IAC/KOS attack and agreed to hand over the station when they were on the brink of losing it anyway.
They went up to BWF for a week or two, and suffered the curse of that system. They spent some time as a BoB renter/pet, and when that space was taken away from them too just folded.
While ISS had interesting ideas, ultimately the juiciness of an outpost as a target - combine with their decision to drop their neutrality, combine with just bad luck - led to a complete fail-spolision. The assets were too spread out, the alliance was too small to defend even one on their own merits alone, and they chose to side with allies that weren't interested/able to defending them . |

A lot of the problem for ISS, atleast when it came to IAC, was on how ISS handled their neutrality. ISS saw neutrality as allowing everyone to dock at their stations. They believed this meant they were not taking sides. IAC saw neutrality as not aiding one side in a conflict (ie: closing stations to both sides during a war). As a result of ISS' policy, people could stage fleets out of ISS outposts. ISS having a outpost a few jumps away from IAC space, and showing in the past that they would allow MC to use said outposts to stage attacks on IAC, basically war was unavoidable. It didn't help that within days ISS called in MC (basically confirming all the conspiracy nuts who believed ISS and MC were working together to begin with).

So to put it more simply, it folded because of the ongoing Cold War/WWI in 0.0 sec and bad management of said situation... |
