It would be great if the tournament teams can introduce themselves. I would get to know the teams before the tournament, maybe hear how good they are and then track their progress.
With all the wager stuff I think this will help people chose a team to bet on and maybe help the commentator with some materials to talk about too? |

1) In lowsec around Hek 2) Over two years 3) Fun, prizes, 15minutes of fame. 4) We were in last years tournament and advanced to the final 16 as 1st place in our division. Then we came up against Notoriety Alliance who fielded a near perfect counter to our setup. :( 5) No. We suck.

Hi. We're the Firmus Ixion team. Obviously while FIX is dead, a lot of us will all remember her fondly, so a lot of ex-FIX are rejoining FIX for the duration of the tournament. If you don't know the history of FIX, until about a year ago, it was the oldest living alliance, also the oldest alliance period. We were not ever considered "leet pvperz" but we held our own. In the last 2 years of our existence in Querilous, which we held longer than any other alliance had held space at the time, we sustained an invasion from NC/Coalition forces for almost 2 years straight. Eventually though, many alliances in the GBC failed, which brought more and more numbers to Q, which we simply could not compete with.
FIX has competed before in the alliance tourney, without much success I believe, but this is a brand new team. We have mostly all been flying together for 2+ years, we're family. We fully expect to win the tournament, and we are definitely the best team. Definitely. |

Hi we're Team Veldspar, fighting to get a monument to roids glorious roids in Amarr on behalf of Emperor Chribba.
Our team is pretty diverse and has celebrities / bitter inactive vets from all over, altho people can expect to see some familiar faces from back when we fought on behalf of IAC (and before that THE R0CK too)
Our captain is NTRabbit, and I'm the organizer / people herder
We've been knocked out in semi-finals twice (both times losing to BoB), lost an imperial issue apocalypse to the Green Alliance team (back then they were in CoW) live on evetv, and most recently did really really embarassingly badly in AT5 ;[
Hopefully we'll do better this time |

1. Currently in Black Rise though we have some pilots up in Venal, Amarr space and several other places.
2. Between 1+ to 4 years.
3. We were in AT4 and AT5 and been steadily improving so why not.
4. See above. AT4 we ended up third in our group after IAC and Morsus Mihi due to two of our Caracals going out of bounds when they had the final (Drake) in armor in the IAC match. Would have taken MM's second place otherwise. =( AT5 we came second in our group after Triumvirate. after THD'ing The Church. in our last game. We went on to the final 16th and got the worst draw imaginable when we were put toe to toe with Ev0ke and went with a totally wrong fit for that fight. End result: Won three matches, lost two (to the tourney winner and runner up)
5. Hardly. But I know what we can do and wouldn't exactly twitch my eyebrow over making it to the semis even if I would be very happy. A bit of a lucky draw and good organization takes you far. |

Edited by: Ayari on 18/01/2009 12:54:54 The Fourth District team is made up mostly of pilots from the Caldari Independant Navy Reserve (CAIN), who are a Caldari Roleplaying corporation that's been around for several years and has butted heads with the likes of Star Fraction and Electus Matari in empire, and flown against Triumvirate and ATF in Pure Blind back before the Northern Coalition reclaimed that area of space. CAIN has more recently been getting recognition in Faction Warfare for taking the fight to FOOM in Black Rise.

HUN Corp. HUN Reloaded

HUN Corp has been around for.. well, i dont even remember how long. Quite long.
First of all: we are not to be confused with the HUNs. The HUNs are a different corporation who choose the name because.. well, i dont know why :) We choose the name because we are ALL HUNgarians and this was the first hungarian corp in the game.
HUN Reloaded was originally created to make standing management easier (back then you couldnt really set alliance standings if you were a corp), later we used the fact that we are an alliance to enter AT4, which we also managed to win. Eventually some of the likeminded hungarian corporations joined the alliance, so we are not really just a single corp anymore, yet we are still more like a small family, than a big corporation.
AT5 we made it to the final 8 where we kinda choose the wrong tactic with the right setup to get us killed. ;)
Nothing more to tell there really. Its AT6 now and we are looking forward to it. My post does not represent the general or official opinion of anyone else besides me. No matter what YOU believe. Phear the arrows of the HUNs >>----> |

Hi we are 10th Legion, and we like nothing better than PvP and occasional 2 hour quoting marathons of "Old Greg". Wasn't a tourney for the latter so here we are.
Answers to questions:
1. We are currently in Curse, but who isn't?
2. Our alliance has been around for a bit more than a year, but the original core of the alliance had been around two years prior to that.
3. We thought it would be a lot of fun and would make us popular with the ladies. More space hookers = more gooder.
4. First time in the tournament for us.
5. If the other 63 teams drop out I guarantee we'd be the best, other than that we'll just have to see how it shakes out.

We are Prime Orbital Systems. We were one of the older alliances in EVE before the era of the mega-blob alliances. Back when a small-ish industrial alliance could survive in 0.0, we held on to a decent portion of the Esoteria region and 5 outposts (three of which we built ourselves). One of them was the second outpost ever built by a 0.0 alliance, 16P-PX.
We left Esoteria after ASCN was destroyed by BoB, who then came after us. While it is easy to blame BoB for everything, truth is simply that times were changing. To survive, a 0.0 alliance needed to be large with a hefty number of PvPers (which we weren't), or have big friends nearby (which we didn't after ASCN fell). So we became nomads, eking out a living wherever we could. In time the founding corps went their separate ways and POS was abandoned, but we never lost touch.
Finally, for no other reason save nostalgia, I resurrected POS. When the alliance tourney was announced, people started talking and it was decided that those of us who once called POS home would gather once again and take part in the competition. So here we are. ----------------------------------- You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Gallente Federation FW team reporting for duty.
Where do you guys live? Gallente Low Sec space.. moving into Black Rise as we speak.
How long have you been flying together? Tough one as people come and go from FW all the time, however I can speak for myself here and say I have been in FW since day 1 and plan to stay for a long while. Anyone from the Militia has been invited to the team, however recruitment and access to the team has not been frozen (SPIES YOU KNOW)
Why did you join the Alliance Tournament? In gods good grace CCP allowed us in. I had already set aside the weekends to watch the tourney as it was one of the reasons I play eve.
Have you been in the Tournament before and how did you do? As an alliance no, we haven't. However as a person I flew in the TRI team that made it to the final last year (yeah my alt was the first to die in a griffen). I learned a lot from XXAngelXX, Wargod and King Dave, all of which I hope to emulate and take it one step further.
Do you think you are the best team in the field? We won't be able to produce the same skill level as most of the alliances, but I ain't going to lie about this.. but we are taking it very serious (including some emo rage quits from people during training), and yeah we're training. When you have a squad of 3000+ players you need to find out who can fly their ships and who is used to sitting in a mission spamming missiles. We are going to find it hard to get high skilled and high SP pilots but if we do I think we can match anyone, worse thing is we don't have an isk chest to buy nice ships with so we need to learn what t1 ships do the best in a scenario like this.
Truth is we want to show the 0.0 alliances that po po on FW that its the best PvP in the game. We don't hug POS's, we can get instant gang warfare or solo kills. Not many ratters afk in belts here.. we have to bait and trap. And we think we can do this in the tourney. Well heres hoping.

Hello, we are the Pathetic Legion.
We live in a system near you, cloaked in Zealots.
We've been docking in stations together now for 2 years, slowly gathering the worst parts from every failed alliance in New Eden. We like to think of ourselves as an experiment on how to be best at being pathetic losers never willing to risk anything or doing anything of substance.
We like to put our failure to test yearly in the Alliance Tournament in order to ensure we've not somehow lost our edge at being bad at this game.
We've competed in the tournament twice in the past, both with varying degrees of failure. First time we competed, we somehow managed to get into a price position, but thanks to failing to signup to any of the factions -- the price we got was a fraction of value it could have been. Thus, we consider this unfortunate success a glitch, retrified by the failure to actually gain any monetary value from it.
Second time we competed we lost in the semis to these other band of failures called Triumvirate, who went on to fail in the final despite having all the means to win the match. We were so impressed with this failure, we recruited the worst corp out of said alliance (who were kicked out to add to the appeal) in order to boost our chances at hilarious drama in the future.
We hope we are the worst team on the field. Does that count? |

Why?
Because it is a freaking blast. Fights are great fun, coming up with setups is also a wonderful time waster.
Previous tourney experience?
AT4 (OSS, learned a lot), AT5 (Final 8, felt we had a strong showing)
Best?
We are probably strong enough to do well but a lot will depend on the draw because of the limited filtering a 2 round swiss system can do. There is also almost always unknown alliances that are very strong so who know, all we do know is we are looking forward to this thing getting started. |

We've been flying together for about a year and a half now.

We're participating this time primarily to gain experience for future tournaments. Right now we lack a lot of the skills we could really use, but it should be fun.

Not even close. Our main goal is to get some experience from our two matches that we can take with us for future tournaments.

[26]
Hi there, I'm the team captain for the Star Fraction team.
Star Fraction is currently basing out of Arzad System in the middle of the Amarr vs Minmatar faction warfare conflict zone and we're systematically wardeccing leading Amarrian corporations in an attempt to disrupt their efforts. We'd love the chance to fight the Amarrian FW team in this tourney of course.
Some of our pilots have been flying with the alliance for 5+ years now, others are much more recent recruits. But it's fair to say we are an established small unit pvp and roleplay alliance and have been fighting the good fight in Eve Online for a very long time. We always try to sign up for the alliance tournaments because a) its fun! b) its good propaganda and publicity and c) its very nice to take on the super alliances and big dogs of the game on an even footing where skill and imagination count more than blobs and jump bridges.
We've flown in four previous tournaments with varying levels of success and some decent giant-killing action from time to time. In the 3rd alliance tournament we defeated ASCN's (unbreakable turtle tank) beat our arch rivals RAZOR and went to kill off Veritas Immortalis (back when people knew who they were). In the 4th tournament we again had a decent run that climaxed in the infamous thorax charge against Band of Brothers (youtube vids are still fun to watch!). In the 5th we sadly failed to get past the group phase despite winning 3/4 qualifier matches.
While I don't think we're the best or most consistent team in the field since we're a relatively small alliance and our funding and pilot flexibility is not unlimited, I do think we always manage to commit decent resources to making a good showing and on our day we can potentially beat any team competing. We've certainly upset expectations in the past and I hope we continue this pattern in the future.
Alls said and done, the tournament is a good event for Eve online and I hope you enjoy watching (and listening) to the matches.

I think this group are the best group of guys to have fun with, but I think we'll be sploded! Will the rule set having been changed like it was this year, a lot of common tactics to do "more with less" have been thrown out the window. It's very much going to be a rock, paper, scissors event. Some teams I'm sure will try their luck at at randomly picking a better setup than their opponent, some teams will try to just cover all possible opposition and hope they have one ship standing at the end.
BLACK was formed just over two months ago to continue the tradition of really drunk PVP. Guess wha, it works!
Edit: Guess I can add a few more details.

Electus Matari operates in the area the Republic i.e. Heimatar, Metropolis and Molden Heath. (For more information see http://www.electusmatari.com/forums/show...?tid=2765)
Electus Matari joined the alliance tournament since it seemed intresting and fun occasion for us. We aim to do our best in the tournament and have fun there. Evening,
I represent fifth Freedom, it's an alliance created for the sole purpose of being in the tournament, So I reckon that's why we get ****ty odds :)
Most of the line up has been playing together for 2-5 years, during which our primary activity has been low sec piracy, which basically means we're used to fighting outnumbered and under sentry fire, so even though this is a new format of pvp for us, I'm, maybe foolishly, optimistic.
A big part of our line up is 2003-2004 players, which means we'll be backed up with a ton of experience, hopefully that will help us at least get to the second round. I'm holding my breath though.
Good luck to all the participating teams, except KIA. Eddz tried to steal mah battleplans in reykjavik.
