Major Deviant	Posted - 2009.01.18 10:45:00 - [3] You will be relatively safe in your faction space and be able to travel in enemy space in fast ships with out using autopilot. I was in the same dilema once and my plan was to retire from the militia when the time came but it was not needed in the end. On the plus side, if you are Caldari or Amarr you can camp Jita 4-4 for those war targets who are foolish enough to go there. So the main con is that you will not be able to take a large ship to enemy hi sec (unless in a hi sec raid - god are those fun or what). The main pro is that it gives you targets in hi sec with no penalties. I used to take a stealth bomber to Gallente space and create chaos.

Will you be safe? Somewhat. Much safer than lowsec, but not safe. The pro's and cons? Pros: PvP, fleets forming all the time, no politics, no requirements, etc. Cons: PvP, enemy fleets forming all the time, other people don't have requirments to join (except the standings), etc. Advice? Join the Federation!

I wanted to try out amarr , but I'm a bit worried about the lack of targets while caldari militia makes me worry about the abundance of noobs ( no offense to anyone )

Though judging from the amount of activity in the FW areas lately, that may not be the case atm. (whenever I leave the Fw cos of lack of targets, suddenly theres big fleets all over the place ). I dont know if the Amarr ever team up with The Caldari (its a bit hard to do if you spend all your time docked up in Kamela ), but there have been roadtrips by Min fleets out to Caldari space, but it can be a nightmare identifing targets, as Gallente show up as neutral, and not eveybody has their overview set up to show the militia column. Hence, inadvertant combat ensues.

As I understand it, a Faction Militia is a NPC Corporation. So, if I join an FW Militia do I effectively leave the player corporation I'm in? The player corporation I'm in is not an FW corp. Thanks.

Yes, but you would have to enlist as a corporation, so if some of your corp mates don't want to join FW you might have a problem on your hands. If you're in an alliance, the corp would have to leave the alliance to join the militia faction in question as well.

One thing you can not avoid is quality PvP as FW has attracted a lot of the psychotics that used to roam empire lowsec as pirates or anti-pirates. Amarr/Minmatar have a lot of smaller gang engagements and rather ferocious fighting over plexes, benefit of having die hard roleplayers on both sides. Gallente/Caldari are more into the bigger gangs->fleets as far as I understand the data seeping out. Only whole corporations or individual pilots can join up, the most frequently used loophole to this is to create a new character and sacrifice a week or two of training to get the t2 weapons and run amok in frigates. All races can do this I think so racial bias shouldn't be a problem. And if it doesn't suit you, character can be reprocessed, there is always a need for more Soylent Green

Also it seems a good way to learn some PVP, in just a couple of months I have learnt more about PVP than people I knew who did not enlist.
