i'm gallente, which as you know for the most part doesn't use missiles. But I'm worried that I'll have to train to fly caldari ships up if I want to do L4 missions. Is that worry justified, or are railguns fine on gallente ships fine for higher level missions? |

Yes, only caldari pilots in caldari ships are capable of doing lvl 4`s. Thats should be obvious. |

Ignore the disinformation. One has to use a raven, if one wishes to run level 4 missions. If there were other ways, there would be thousands of threads on this subject.

Tasko, it isn't often I laugh on the Eve forums. Thank you very much. And that website is a great find -- bookmarking it!

It depends how easily and quickly you want to do lv 4 missions. IMO, missiles are the ultimate in speed and laziness.
So my answer is yes. I wish it was easier to do missions with guns (lasers included) and drones, but it's just not. No gun can do any damage type with the same results, and IME no gun can take out cruisers like missiles. Also, missile boats don't have to move an inch. Transversal speed is not as big a deal for missiles as it is for guns. Tracking needs a buff.
Yes you can do lv 4 missions in a non-missile boat. No it won't be as effective in any mission as a CNR or Golem. |

If you are worried about rail guns, worry no more - my Dominix (rails secondary weapon) and Megathron-hull ships (rails primary weapon) have successfully and efficiently completed thousands of missions. Some ships may take more skills than others, but I have had no trouble with properly skilled setups from each race so far. |

I agree, mostly. Missles are indeed the the laziness route, but not quite as lazy as the sentry domi - but properly set paladins will do Sansha / Blood Missions faster than a golem. If you run missions long enough, you'll start to build specific ships to run specific factions faster. |

This. I have one Dominix setup for Kin/Thermal, another for EM/Thermal, another for Angels. No swapping hardeners or drones around for me - just jump into a different ship. For other missions, I use my trusty Navy Mega (soon to be a Kronos). Others I break out my Ishtar. My Caldari character uses his NH for most missions, but some are faster with his CNR. As you gain experience, you'll learn that using specialized ships for each mission has its benefits (also cuts down on boredom). ------------ Improvize. Adapt. Overcome. |
