Its so low as the c*** ****king PC manufacturers (no offense intended, I'm just irritated by the loss of my Crusader) are making this ship that is valued at 300K (see 100% insurance vaule) but it is being sold at 5.49Misk by the manufacturers as they are greedy little buggers! If standard BP prices are used, manufacture cost of the ship should be approximately 150Kisk (give or take due to market fluctuations). Hmm... 30000% profit... Hey CCP, throw us a ship BPO!!

A CCP representative somewhere said that insurances are calculated depending on the minerals only and that they'd include further requirements for the calculations soon[tm].
Forgive me but I'm too lazy to search for it right now, either believe it or not, not that I would care. FYI I think it was either in patch review or general discussions. Happy searching!

my corp builds crows (hence why i have one :)).
as well as the months and months of working for R&D agents, our producers have to go to a LOT of effort to get all the tech 2 stuff for crows. graviton reactor units are the most rare btw. it only seems fair that after someone spends days hunting down sellers for tech 2 stuff, then flyingh out to pick the units up, they get something to make up for the time. that somethings known as profit. and in most cases it isnt that much. so sure, we sell the crows at about 12.5mill each. but a lot of that goes on tech 2 components and stuff. the rest goes towards production and research and a small amount of profit.

Gathering parts costs around 5 mil isk, requires covering multiple regions, and many jumps, so the ship sells for 12 mil. Because in the time it takes me to gather the crow's parts, i could make probably 3 mil doing my normal operations. Profit needs to include the cost of my time as overhead. And then, also, there must be a sufficiently worthwhile profit to recover the cost of those Crows we use and lose in combat.

Interceptor insurance does need reworking. I was beside myself when I found out the basic insurance payout for a Crow was 170k. The Tech II parts need to be covered by the insurance.

I have a friend who makes me my Crows, and they cost around 4M to assemble (2M for the BPC, 2M for components, minerals and the original Condor - the components make up the majority of this).
CCP need to re-think the availability of Tech 2 components, or at least up the insurance pay-out on Interceptors. The argument that you shouldn't fly one if you can't afford to replace it is ridiculous; why should the interceptor have a different pay-out ratio to every other ship in the game?
Sure, if they are going to be expensive - make them expensive, but at least let the insurance pay out reflect the actual cost of the ship, so those who love flying them but can't be on 12-hours a day can still have a chance to enjoy flying a replacement should the original get shot down.
