before the patch it took a little bit of time before eve got smooth but since the patch it doesn't seem to go there at all. opening windows inside of eve (such as the character window or market) eats up a very large part of the performance

I also got this message at 40% retried a few more times and each time it would go up another 3% before stopping again. Then around 60% it wouldnt go any further. I tried downloading the patch directly from the eve website. http://www.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp. It downloaded and did stuff then after restarting eve it said unable to detect game version and i would need to re-download the client. Then tried EVE again and it downloaded a very small 1000ish kb patch and it started working. No idea why. |

Confirming, performance is worse.

Same issue. Looks like the usual lack of QA on the Mac client. Updates appear to be mostly broken since Incarna. This is why I have cancelled my account. Running down the clock since CCP don't give a crap about Mac.
On the plus side the Eve Online Repair Tool is now the Generic Updater. Just go to the patch page and use that instead.

Constant crashes on all Mac clients. I run two or three boxes on a network and they all crash at the same time. So far it does not matter what i am doing. I can play for 10 minutes to 40 minutes but no longer. Mostly crashes after about 10 minutes of whatever activity I am doing. Becoming very very frustrated since I spend so much money on this game. |

The client behaves well if there is only one client open on the network, so far, anyway. |

Client appears to resent any network activity other than Eve, as well as multiple Eve clients on network. When I post to Facebook on one computer, Eve crashes on another. |

The game is virtually unplayable due to crashes, lost a ship.
Logged in on at about 7:00a (GMT) (14 Sept), patched up and got the client update on a mid-2009 MBP 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB, OS 10.7.1. Was running EVE Voice (not functional) and Jukebox (running fine).
Picked up a mission in Vittenyn, headed out for it in Bourynes, got out to the mission and triggered the attack, crashed.
Logged back in and warped back in, insta web & warp scramble. Crash.
Logged back in, still in deadspace, webbed, scrambled, cap neut. Shields gone. Crash.
Logged back in, same as above, armor gone too. Crash.
Logged back in, and I'm in my capsule in deadspace. Try to dock, no response from anything. About 5 minutes of complete unresponsiveness, crash.
Get ahold of a friend's PC, dock, come to forums to gripe.
I'm not so grumpy that I just lost 1/3-1/2 a billion ISK worth of ship, as I am that the Mac client is practically unplayable right now due to the crashes. |

Same issue (both McBook Pro 13" 2010, OS10.7 and iMac 21" 2009 Dual Core OS10.7). Apparently randomly appears while downloading, sometime going 20% before coming in, sometime after 3%.
After having tried to identify some pattern, it seems it comes in almost immediately if a TimeMachine (on a Time Capsule so using the network card) backup is running, or seemingly, if some other network access is going on for more than x seconds/minute. As anyway there's always some network access by the system in the backgournd at some point, it could also be compatible with longer download before failing when not doing visible/explicit access.
Could also just be a coincidence. |

Unfortunately serious bugs with EVE Voice are still there, Voice sometimes leads to strange lockups, and very many crashes.
As we use Voice for fleet comms, I can't participate in our daily action. |

FPS is also reduced over previous patch.
Under bootcamp (win 7 pro) on the same machine No problems and runs really fast.
all graphics settings set to high.
MacBook pro late 2009, 8Gb ram 9600 nvidua graphics (512mb) OS X lion.
Is anyone else having similar issues?
Sounds like we have a pretty much identical setup. I have a 2009 MBP 17" w/nvidia Geforce 9600M GT (512), OSX Lion, 2.8Ghz with W7 Ult Bootcamp.
In OSX I have warp effects, but not tractor beams. FPS is terrible. But I've also been experiencing frequent crashing. With and without Jukebox and/or Voice going and all settings to low/off. Voice seems like insta-death for the Mac client in general.
On Windows 7 (bootcamp, same machine) I am able to use Jukebox and Voice without a problem. I turned all the graphics settings on high in W7 and it ran smoothly, even in stations. However I still experienced some crashing issues. I turned all the graphics settings to low/off and was able to play for several hours. There was some "hitching" still, but no more crashes. Hitching: it would play smoothly for awhile, then just freeze (except for the mouse) for 2-5 seconds, then resume.
I'm starting to think this guy may be onto something, with his note that the currently-released driver for the 9x series cards isn't fully-compatible with EVE (although apparently the beta version is). Because when I crash out in W7 on the MBP, that's the message I get. "CCP ExeFile has stopped working" |

FPS has never been great on the mac client Compared to bootcamp. The log in animation is jerky as hell now though.
Other fun things include immovable items after reprocessing modules in large numbers.
Filed a different petition about my toon having permanently visible underwear (on both platforms) was told my bootcamp graphics card drivers were old (July) and that I should update them... So not sure about it being too newer driver. |

Oh dear. The log in animation is jerky on my machine, too. Reading this thread is depressing and I'm wondering if it's even worth trying to do Incursions. As it is, I've had to set up Vent and TS3 servers for our incursion crew to use because the in-game voice kills Mac clients.
What can be done to improve the quality of Mac releases? Can the community help? Even Singularity on a Mac is impossible! |

I've been experiencing the client patch failure issues as well as the aforementioned error when trying to apply regular updates and I believe I have found a work around that has so far got me to 100% patch download status on two client updates so far: Run the game in Windowed mode. I'm not entirely sure why this work but I've noticed that all my connection and patching problems go away when I'm not running the game in full screen. Can anyone help me confirm this? I will test this again with the upcoming client update tomorrow by first looking for the expected failure in full screen mode, then looking for a success in windowed mode. When I say "failure" I mean a a failure to download the patch with "Client Update Failed" message. |
