I hereby declare my oath of loyalty to the Minmatar Republic. I absolutely and wholly renounce all pledges, fidelities, and allegiances to any foreign sovereignties or powers. I swear to support and defend the Minmatar Republic, its people, policies, holdings, and agents, its sovereignty and the integrity of its territory against all enemies and usurpers, foreign and domestic. I will bear arms on behalf of the Minmatar Republic in times of war, and will perform civil service on its behalf in times of peace. I will obey, uphold, and defend its laws and treaties. I will perform work of national importance under governmental, military, or civilian direction as required by the Minmatar Republic in times of emergency. I make this commitment unreservedly, with no mental reservation or purpose of evasion.
With this oath, I affirm and assert my loyalty to the Minmatar Republic.

The Republic has fallen into the political game of the foreign powers. Starting to act as one of 'em.
The Tribes are losing all indipendence and diversity, especially the smaller one's. I don't like seeing tribes interefering in other tribes' buisness.
In my opinion the tribes should only work together on military base to fight of common foe's.
I respect your devotion but you should stand behind your tribe not a "federation" inspired organisation.

And so the fine line between tribe and republic begins to fade. The lines have been drawn, tribes are becoming a thing of the past.
We of Clan Raven refuted such oaths to the Republic long ago. We live for the Minmitar people, not a cowtailing nation.
We had ways that worked well for us in the past, they can work again. I will not trade my traditions in for citizenship. ---------------------------------

Our people are under constant attack by the forces of the CVA, currently, the only way to defend against it is to declare a legal war against them with Concord.
I accept your oath and bind you to it!

Unifiying by under one flag does not mean your individual cultures are going to be assimilated into each other to create a minmatar super culture. That is as long as all the entities involed come in as equals, and not take the Gallente model of cooperation.
Take example of the old earth Cheyenne of the Americas, before they unified they were numuorous seperate tribes and for the most part were inneffective at defending thier lands, but once they unified under one banner they became much stronger than if thier force was tallied up as seperate entities. And even though they lost in the long run it took the full force of the United States (first republic) to passify them.
Let's just hope that in this case, the minmatar don't meat the same fate. But in any case, unification is always better than fragmentation.. and my personal plug, a unfied republic means easier trading as there are more standard rules governing the practice, instead of dealing with the rules of each individual tribe.

So this means the PRM no longer exist then right?
If you're all pledging allegiance to the Minmatar Republic then surely the PRM which has claimed a chunk of Minmatar Republic space is no friend of any Minmatar loyal to the Minmatar Republic?

Well you and your tribes get so confusing.
I see Hakera pledging his loyalty to the Republic above. I always assumed he was in the PRM. (And yes I know what assumptions are).
If he's not ta member of the PRM then he is at perfect liberty to embrace the Minmatar Republic - if he is then exactly who is he supporting?
It will be good when the Emperor eventually orders the reclaiming and we no longer have to worry about your petty tribes and 'republics'.

Could it be too presumptious to ask everyone to preserve this thread for those who wish to sign the oath, and take actual discussion elsewhere? (If you have further questions about Gradient policies, please feel free to send evemail or start a conversation with either Mr. Emmek or myself.)

Edited by: Elsebeth Rhiannon on 30/07/2004 09:47:56 No, I am not. What I am saying is that from being loyal to the Republic it does not follow that one has to declare any wars or take up arms, as long as the Republic is not in a war. We are an industrial corporation - we do not go to war lightly, but we will, if the Republic requires it from us. Fighting organizations have other priorities.
Of course, personally, I think that currently it is more important to build than to destroy, but the Republic laws make the latter option also available.
This is the last answer from me to this thread, though I will be glad to continue discussion elsewhere.
(EDIT: some clarification)

And yet from my expierence with Gradient you were so anti Amarrian you demanded near genocide of them in the PRM forums.
What you're proposoing now is support for a peaceful accord with your most despised race. Why dis you demand of PRM what the Old Republic does not demand? And why do you support one policy and then another? It confuses me.
What the heck is your stance? ---------------------------------

Most disturbing to see such clonelike, grey repetition as something to be applauded. Can't alter or add one jot nor tittle of self, feelings, thoughts, patriotism, nothing - verbatim, word for word, step in place and toe the line. Any personal expressions are disruptions and are bad for the Unity!
I am beginning to think Gradient is a joke perpetrated on the galaxy in cooperation between the Jove and the Caldari.
Please respond in unison, Citizens.
oh and Ashe: clearly, their stance is that they are perfectly pacifist - when speaking for themselves. The only times they've ever called for the wholesale slaughter of the Amarr - on several public and documented occasions - is when they're quite explicitly calling on someone else to do the shooting.
Such details as exhorting the masses to fire on random Amarr under the eye of CONCORD and Sentry guns do not concern them. They are true patriots and loyalists and are beyond reproach! Also beyond approach, should you ask for some backup in said shooting...
I am wrong. You are not as funny as a joke. You are likely a gaggle of dupes led by agent provocateurs, and you are starting to scare me. |

With this oath, I affirm and assert my loyalty to the destruction of every Amarr, and if the bloody Republic somehow remains standing when I have returned home from that task, then we can have yet another of those wonderful rubber chicken dinners and talk about my loyalties placed elsewhere.
For now, brothers and sisters, to the Amarr!
Or is it that you are forgetful of what the Amarr did to you or yours? Let me refresh it now.

Let me make an oath of my own
"With this oath I swear to fight for the freedom of every soul from the bondage of slavery. Be it through bloodshed, terror or any other means I can find. The call to peace shall not blind me to the suffering of others. The 'patient" road shall not force me to prolonge the pain of my brethern still in bondage. I shall free my people from enemies foreign and domestic. I make this commitment unreservadly, with no mental reservation or purpose of evasion.
With this Oath I affirm my dedication to freedom of all."

Thread hijacking. Bad form. You want to make an oath, start a thread. I like the oath, and I'll probably even take it, but leave this thread alone to die a natural death.
It's cruel to keep poking it.

*Nods respectfully to Makkar* In the interests of balance I feel that I should post that I Khali Nephtys will not subscribe to this oath.
The reason I feel the need to state this is not that I am opposed to those that do, quite the opposite in fact. I am posting here to highlight the fact that I am a Gradient combat pilot, and I am free to decide for myself if I wish to sign up to this oath or not.
The fact that I chose not to doesn't mean I am going to be penalised frowned upon or brow beaten in any way. So I do hope this clears up the issue of mindless drones somewhat.
Khabs am pehkt...........seize the stars.

A Gradient combat pilot, eh? Hmmm...
Well, if you ever get tired of slapping Angel Predators while your corpmates mine, be sure and get in touch. We've always got a place for free-thinking combat pilots.

And that, my friends, is the spirit of a true Matari. Take note, please, all those who aurgue their points on both sides.
As my mentor keeps reminding me. It is what he calls the "principles of freedom" that should matter most to the Matari, not some oath binding you to a set of rules and dogma.
I salute you sister. ---------------------------------
