Over the many years I have been playing this game I have seen many things. Great things and also troubling things( to me ).
I could go on about the 5 and a half years I've been playing, all the stuff I've seen, but it would then be over shadowed by some 15 year old that just sat in a Helios during a mega blob battle. ( The Point Being )
Its honestly best not to waste your time.. I've often found that the microcosms of Mega Alliance pilots tend to make their own facts about the outcomes of some of these battles, being who is the victor and who is the looser. Despite the losses and the Forum blasting of KB Points you can find in each group a willingness to fight on despite the odds, the objective, and even the leader and treatment one gets in the group they represent.
More then the organization itself, ships, and isk its important to look at the game cost based on the time you spend in the real world. Some times huge isk losses means beans to a group that's loaded anyways when the opposing force spent all their time and sweat to " concur the mountain " only to find that in the grand scheme of things the victor is who appeals to the people.
Take the Goon / Bob War. Both sides have been going at it for a very long time. Both have had big Gains and Losses they both realize the roles they play in this game. CCP Loves the conflict, gamers love to pick a side and follow that side based on the way they play the game and their investments they make.
Personally, I think some groups side with BOB based on the fact they like taking on the huge odds and Some Groups side with goon because they could care less as long as they have a S%#@ TON of fun while shooting an killing. Both in my eyes have managed to stand the test of time thus far and in my mind will continue to grow until something happens in the game mechanics to effect the number of pilots they can put out.
I can say that I do have questions the day the conflict ends between BOB/Goon.
1. Who do they go for next.
2. What can the eve community gain from losing a conflict that generates income.
3. How will CCP adjust things in game based on a major faction/s dissolving.
All of these things must be taken into account before you think you can understand them. To be honest after all my wondering I still don't know why pilots join corps and alliances to take part.
I just know I'm happy seeing people be active and still have a love for the game the same way I have had for over 5 years,,, and not just crappy SP junk but being deeply involved in the growth of this game is what its all about
Just my thoughts. DD Fly Safe o/ |

Oh Yummy You asked...
Well depends on who you ask..
Some I have known to feel Goon is being the group of players honest with themselves viewing this as just a game doing everything it can to just let the rest of eve know it ( Totally In Their Own Way ) which I can look at and understand based on their actions/forum posts/random ganking
I believe BOB friendly groups core belief is the under dog type of story when it comes down to it. meaning everybody must play their part and no matter the odds we can destroy the " Evil Goonies " clearing space and well just honestly playing the game.
Despite all that Both sides depending on who you ask would view each one of them having elements of BOTH Good and Evil because they would not have been able to do half the things they have done in game and to an extent outside of the game without any Good or Bad Intentions on those who oppose them.
and thus the EVE Cycle Goes Round. |

Goona/NC - have the numbers advantage by being blue to 80% of eve however the standard member has less sp on average than a BoB/-A- pilot
-A-/BoB - have very highly trained Pvpers and excellent FCs however can rarely fight in even numbers against the NC/Goons Providing eve with unbiased news |

Removing goons from the game would suck. I for one am doing this for the lolz of kicking em in the nuts.
I believe both sides do it for the lolz but there is always the serious internet spaceship captian that gets into the game a little too much.
If goons do lose, they will probably go back to syndicate and eventualy launch another attack on GBC. The war will never end. If -A-/bob lose, well we know that wouldnt happen
All this has happend before and will happen again. |

BoB: What are your skillpoints? Goons: Do you know how to target something?
BoB: Both sides have taken heavy losses. Goons: Both sides have some ships left.

I think thats a bit of a myth propagated by one side of the conflict. Looking at http://evemaps.dotlan.net/alliance/?o=memberCount
Goons have around 5,000 members and maybe 30% of them are active at any given time TCF have about 1,500 members RA have 1,000
Then you've got Razor and MM down south, afaik rest of NC aren't there in any great numbers. Thats another about 5,000 people.
Then you've got the various other blues participating in the south, Black, Scorched Earth etc, say another 1,500 people I'll file under misc.
14,000 on the Goon side then
On the other side
Bob are what the second largest alliance in game have 3,000 or so members AAA have another 2,000 or so. Exe + Atlas + Stain Empire + C0ven = about 4000 pilots.
Then the various other guys on their side ex tri, ROL, various GBC etc so say 1,500 misc again
10,500 or something like that on the BOB \ AAA side.
So it's not really 80% advantage people are claiming and taking activity and timezones into account the numbers are probably even closer.
Someone else may want to do a more accurate count there's various other conflicts happening that are tangentially related eg. UNL vs GBC, PL vs GBC, Drone region guys pitching in for occasional op etc. i've tried to only count who I see as the "regulars" in the fights. But the main point I'm trying to make is I really don't think the numbers are as skewed as people try to spin it. |

30% of 5000 would be 1500 active players. If you remove the percent sign it becomes more accurate. |

You forget that 90% of RAWR is ratting at any given time, and divided by tz it means rawr has has from 10-100 pilots. Don't forget to add goodfellas, SCA, x13, T E R c i o u s, strip mining club, Skunkworks...
