Edited by: Brox alDragoran on 24/01/2009 17:15:01 Just to reiterate.
I do not think we are entitled to free EvE tv.
Even though I am dissapointed I am not looking to blame anyone involved.
All I want is to get some feedback from someone in the know about how I/We can help EvE TV cover as close to 100% of the next tourny as possible.
Edit for spelling ... oh dear sweet funk how bad is my spelling.

CCP i love this exellent game we play but when the alliance tourney was on eve tv it gave me something to look forward to each evening. It gives a nice feel to the game and is great for advertisement and getting more people to part with their cash and play the game. Please CCP. Bring back Eve TV for the alliance tourney. |

Well, you obviously have camera drones, you have commentators (although not on site, but they still do commentate).
Trust me CCP, we can live without seeing the faces of those in the studio. (I guess most of the tournament costs come from flying people in, providing them with accomodations / food, studio stuff, etc) Most of us only care about the fights and not the studio fluff you do around them.
For now, i will be happy as long as we get to watch the matches - with or without commentary - later from recording. Without that tho, the whole preleminary round loses a lot from its charm. For example, half the teams we can only see there, as they will not make it to the finals.
So can we get a confirmation about what someone from CCP said earlier, that the matches are being recorded and will be available later?
Thanks for that confirmation in advance. |

Very dissapointed, had looked forward to the tourny, but no coverage means no veiw for me. I cant stand listening to sport on the radio, so i doubt i will like listening to a tourny on there either.
the least you could do is up load each fight to www.evetube.com so we can atleast watch the matches a few hours later.. |

I would have watched all the coverage on Eve tv.
Instead i'm only going to listen into matches that have my friends competing in.

oh puh-leeease, don't try to tell me it costs too much to show the tournament live. there are a myriad choices of how to transmit the fights, all with varying costs.
as bloody usual, we are not being told anything. that mushroom principle has never been so true. ccp make plenty of money to be able to put the tournament on.
this is b0ll0cks. total b0ll0cks.

What a joke..I'm tempted to look up the net profit made by CCP last year and post it here..Is it me or are we being ripped off, only yesterday there was news of 48,000+ people online, don't tell me someone isn't getting very rich?
This is one of the worst decisions in the history of EVE if you ask me NO EVE TV-FAIL CCP, really poor!

no, sorry that's just not a satisfactory answer - and somewhat glib too.

I have tried to keep this post constructive and have done what i can to discourage people from venting thier anger/dissapointment. I have asked for feedback and offerd what little help i can give. So far i have found your responses to be a bit flippant and far from satisfactory. I don't expect long walls of text however I would apreciate just the smallest amount common courtesy from someone whos job it is to work as part of this community. |

CCP, you appear to have completely misunderestimated [thanks George! ] the strength of feeling from those that ultimately pay your wages. Individually we are ineffective, but together, en masse it is the same as pvp - solo, we fail; together we are strong. Do not ignore us. We will not ognore you.
The OP has been about as polite as I have seen someone in these forums when talking about a subject he is obviously passionate about. Replying with flippancy does not serve you well. Just answer his question properly and in the same way you would answer someone about to hand you your monthly paycheck.
Think about it.

You all realize that both the tournaments and EVE TV are fan creations, mainly run by volunteers (fans). CCP provides a financial boost, but they never intended to run the entire thing.
If you want EVE TV: support them; find out what they need; help out with stuff; etc. Then there will be full EVE TV coverage of the tournaments

You would have to be in England/Iceland to help directly...
However, applying to the ISD to become a volunteer (IC in this case); or get in contact with the EVE TV people, I'm not sure who is currently in charge of producing at the moment, a bit of digging and you can probably find out. |

Turn into the radio broadcasts? I'm sure most of us asking for live TV coverage do so because we're NOT interested in the radio broadcasts. Please don't connect the two, since they are, at least to the people you're addressing, two entirely different things.
And tune into the TV broadcasts? What, you mean the discontinued regular Eve TV shows? Or the live coverage of the finals of this current tournament? Well, not to be an ass here, but using that to measure interest in tourney live TV broadcasts in general wouldn't give you any true numbers at all, given that most of us who would watch under normal circumstances are probably too disappointed already to even care at all about tourney VI. And that would go for the recorded video footage downloads as well, even though it might be to a lesser degree.
What you need to do is look at how many watched the live coverage of the last tournament, and if that isn't enough to you, please tell us what we can do to raise funds to help make live coverage of the next tourney possible. In the end, it can only come down to money after all, right?
The Alliance Tournament must be a pretty big thing for Eve, PR-wise, and live broadcasting it visually has to be the best way to tap it's potential in regards to it boosting the "morale" of the community, as it were. Therefore I honestly find it surprising that you'd so carelessly answer a disappointed community in this matter.
The Eve Alliance Tournament is an awesome and unique thing, part of what makes Eve so great. But without live TV coverage, the whole point of the tourney is lost, for everyone who doesn't have a team in the competition. What can we do to help bring back live TV coverage, please? |
