TV:
Firefly- Was a good show damn shame it was cancelled had some great potentional the people who run Fox TV network are morons. Sliders- Was good till the suits got involved too much with it then it kinda took an odd turn. I mean another group of people(odd looking aliens) who can slide and take over the Earth. I mean really?. Babylon 5- Will always be a creative show Space above and beyond- was also really cool Terminator the Sara Conner Chronicals- It's a good show if you like terminator which I thought was cool glad its still on.
There was alot of good Sci-fi TV shows damn shame some of them never got the chance to shine.
Movies:
Star Wars Matrix Serenity, more lots more

Heres one everybody has over looked Starship Troopers (the animated series)
Much better the movies, closer to the book It used 3d graphics, which were good for it's time Halo more or less ripped the master chief suit from that show |

Firefly & movie Serenity - I want more i so badly want more episodes. I dont see why fox cancelled it. Since it was their fault for airing the shows in wrong order. The actual Pilot was not shown first etc. Morons

Sort of did, in passing:
Quote: Charlie Jade - South African tv series from a couple of years ago. Private investigator in Bladerunner style parallel universe type thing. Definitely worth a look, it's a bit more adult oriented than most sci-fi tv shows and the better for it.

Edited by: Munchees on 26/01/2009 11:58:26 This show seems interesting The only problem is the star was in Eragon.
Also, I hear they might make a sequel to Serenity. Also, there's that BSG spin-off series Caprica.

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future
Also in the "Sci-fi from the 80s" folder you can find:
V Alien Nation Max Headroom
OMG ! I totally forgot about this. Sort of power rangers, but kewl :) Had some great moments.
For the record, major starship troopers fanboy.
Do you realize what an incredible vision this guy had ? Predicting powered armour and orbital insertions and whatnot in 1959. 19-focking-59 !
If you like that, The Forever War is also a great book, which leans heavily on starship troopers.

Until you said that I was always under the impression that Master Chief was a rip-off of the guy from the original Doom games... but then they both could be I guess
Someone mentioned "V" and Alien Nation... yes, I feel old too now (specially as my fiancee is too young to remember either!).
Just to (hopefully) make others feel really old... does anyone remember Space 1999? (70's TV series where the moon gets knocked out of earth orbit) |

lol, I know, but you didn't say you liked it, just that it was comparable for the film noir private detective theme. :P
Verhoven does good work as long as you are happy with some cheese/splatter/boobies
Starship Troopers (1997) Total Recall (1990) RoboCop (1987)
for more films Alien and Aliens the best ones, the rest are OK by just building on the success of the first two. Predator Terminator (the first one, not the second or third for that matter) Dune Matrix films Pitch Black Back to the Future series
The only Star Wars films ever made (it's my delusion but I am happy) A new hope (Han shoots first and from concealment version) Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi
Primer Children of Men Gattaca Twelve Monkeys
Mars attacks
For Animation Akira Ghost in the shell FF - Spirits Within
For TV, Babalon 5 (plot) and Firefly (dialog) are my loves.

I like everything everybody mentioned already especially Babalon 5. Even though I love Star Trek too B5 wasn't so far removed from the present (remembers Garibaldis room with a Daffy Duck poster).
My favorite move on the other hand i'll probably get flack for... Battlefield Earth. I love post-apocalyptic movies and even though it's technically not... Humans still end up being primitive with long forgotten relics of Earths past. My love for post-apocalyptic movies probably came from my favorite cartoon when I was a kid... Thundarr the Barbarian.

Another mention for Blade Runner..
I may or not may get flamed for this but the Fifth Element was an awesome movie.
Starship Troopers was unique in the fact that how many movies have gore, fascism and humor all rolled into one, as an added bonus it had Neil Patrick Harris in it!

Farscape. FTW.
Officer Crais [holding a dog]: "I like your style hombre, but this is no laughing matter. Assault on a police officer. Theft of police property. Illegal possession of a firearm. Five counts of attempted murder. That comes to...$29.40. Cash, check, or credit card?"
Officer Crais: "Freeze! You're under arrest. You have the right to the remains of a silent attorney. If you cannot afford one...tough noogies. You can make one phone call. I recommend Trixie: 976-Triple 5-LOVE. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you? Well, do you, punk?!"
Just two awsome qoutes from "Wont get fooled again" episode. |

Babylon 5. Usually, I cringe when someone describes something as "epic", but B5 truly deserves this accolade. It is epic. |
