Please visit your user settings to re-enable images. Eve University Welcomes Both New and Experienced Pilots!
Eve University was formed in March of 2004, with the goal of serving the needs of players new to the Eve Universe. Since that time it has gone from strength to strength and with over 900 members currently enrolled, it makes us one of the largest corporations in Eve with thousands of graduates across the galaxy.
Eve University is a rarity in New Eden: A purely altruistic corporation. Every day, faculty and older students give freely to new players their most valuable resource: their time and guidance. This has made Eve University what may be the friendliest corp in the game.
We are a relaxed corporation, with an open door to new players (typically under 8 weeks old) who wish to learn. Faculty and mentoring positions are also available, and both students and Faculty are welcome to stay just for a "term", or longer if they wish to assist us in our mission.
Some of the benefits from joining...
- Scheduled Classes on all aspects of life in New Eden.
- Ad-Hoc Events run by experienced graduates.
- Guest Lectures.
- Group NPC Pirate hunts and Mining expeditions.
- PvP combat lessons, including tackling, EWAR and scanning.
- Guided mission and complex runs.
- A skillbook program, providing the common books to students.
- A library of videos and lessons to parts of the game.
- Corporation research and production access.
- Jump-clone access for all members.
- Hangars stocked with common ships, modules and ammo for member use.
- Special recruitment posts, from corporations wishing to recruit our graduates.
- Extensive standings network, identifying the bad guys from the good guys before they act.
- Supportive in-game and forum environment, always willing to answer your questions.
... and much more.
New Players For those with less than around 8 weeks of in-game experience, come join a corporation whose sole interest is introducing you to Eve and making you a better player, and providing you the support needed in those early months. The only thing we ask is that you have finished Eve's introductory tutorial and follow-on missions - we can help you take it from there! Many fine capsuleers have started their career in Eve University, and you should check out our previous recruitment threads to hear the testimonials of players from all around Eve.
Experienced Players Do you wish to give something back to the Eve community? Would like to give your game more meaning than the next wallet entry, dead NPC rat, or 0.0 system taken? Become a faculty member at Eve University. You will find teaching and mentoring new players a very rewarding experience, while still being able to enjoy the game. Our criteria for more experienced players is a willingness and desire to help and instruct new players, and to support Eve University's mission.
Applying Applications are accepted at our offices in each of the starter systems, as well as our headquarters in Korsiki in The Forge region. The full step by step application process is available on our website. Please remember to respect Eve UniversityÆs mission - E-UNI is not a warehouse for alts, nor is it a flag to hide behind when spying or free supplies for your own corp, and suspicious members are tracked and will of course be removed.
Want to Know More? Join the channel Eve University and talk to some of our friendly members and students, as well as those willing to assist new players from all across Eve. |

Eve Uni is without a doubt, the best corp to get started in Eve. Since I joined Eve Uni, I've been blown up by titans, learnt a lot, met a great bunch of friendly people and feel confident to move into the world of low sec PvP.

A bit more info on the 0.0 part...
E-UNI is neutral, which we define as not being allied with any group, and we have a rule of non-involvement. What this means in practice, is that we simply don't get involved with 0.0 politics and stay out of in any conflicts.
However, while we will not make the first move if you have no standings, after your hostility is proven, standings are set and our members are free to engage at will.
In general, 0.0 space is off limits to members without it being part of a specific project or event - this means that we can dedicate the majority of our resources to teaching, without having to fund POS networks and otherwise maintain that space. _____

I'm Aurea, and have been with EVE University for some time, around 10 months totaling active and less active time. During my tenure, I've been host to a number of classes and experiences. I've learned a great deal about life in New Eden, from how to get set up with a supply of ISK in multiple ways, from mission running to trading, exploration to industry. I'm knowledgeable in multiple areas, including things as mundane as how to set up your overview to tactics for countering nano gangs.
All in all, I credit the amount of time I've spent in EVE to both what I've learned and the opportunities that have been presented to me by EVE University.

I spent a bit over a year in Uni, starting out as a lowly noob as we all do and eventually progressing to the point where I was teaching classes on aspects of the game that are somewhat esoteric or overly specialized. The guidance I found early on and the friends I developed there now net me a network of friends and contacts that span nearly all of the major alliances and a lot of the lesser ones. There have recently been a few cases of politics and drama which have taken it's toll, but the core mission of the corp is still there and they are doing a good job of moving on in spite of it all. I recently moved on to another corp but will always recommend EU to any new player and even some lost not so new players.

I recommend Eve Uni to any new player- I certainly wish I'd found it sooner. You can learn the skills to be anything from a yarrhed pirate to the cuddliest carebear station trader, and you won't find a better group of people in an MMO. I joined the Uni to study PvP and fleet mechanics, and found myself immediately plunged into months of almost continuous wars, some of them against truly formidable opponents. All that fighting might not be the norm, but it was a heck of an education.

Having spent more than 2 years in Eve University, first as a student and later in various leadership positions, I encourage all new players to spend some time with the pilots of Eve University.
No matter your interests, inclinations or inhibitions, you will find like-minded folks, with both tons of relevant experience and the willingness to share it with you, without obligation or hesitation.
Stepping away from the Uni was the single hardest in-game decision I have ever made because of the people. Friends from literally around the world.
Once you fly Uni colors, you never really leave.

EVE University is a great corporation for new players, and a great public channel to learn all sorts of things.
Whether your questions are, 'Should I fit a 75mm Railgun I instead of a Civilian Gatling Railgun on my Ibis?' or 'How can I best set up a complex reaction-chain between these moons?' you will find someone in E-UNI or its alumni who can help you. Both of these examples are questions that I have asked of E-UNI, and both of them were answered to my satisfaction at the time. Whether you love or hate their stance on policies, they do provide an invaluable service to the new players in EVE. |

E-UNI is hands down the best place to learn and enjoy the game! If you're confused and overwhelmed by the often difficult mechanics of Eve Online, you will find the UNI a truly marvelous place. The people in E-UNI are eager to help, and you will never feel alone. Although the UNI has strict rules while you're a member, you will find many miners, industrialists, pvpers, pirates (!), mission runners, roleplayers, and just about every other type of player who were once a member of the UNI when they were young and green. Give it a shot and learn why E-UNI is the best corp for new players.

By far the single best move you can make early on in the game is to join Eve University.
I started EvE and played for a couple months, but had to quit due to RL before I could really get into it. Upon returning a RL friend pulled me into E-Uni and from there I couldn't stop learning. I spent 16 months in Eve Uni, most of it as a recruiting officer helping other rookies start their path on the right foot. The amount of knowledge and information about the game that you can learn from your time with them is simply astounding.

Edited by: Pallidum Treponema on 13/02/2009 11:16:48 Eve University got me started on pvp, and look where that got me. :)
I joined Eve University early on in my eve career. This was when E-UNI was part of the alliance Big Blue, holding two stations in the IPS constellation in Geminate.
Back then, E-UNI was part of a 0.0 alliance, and as nullsec spaceowners, we often had hostiles show up on our doorsteps. This caused many of the pvp classes (who were still held in empire space for the most part) to turn into live fire exercises. This is what got me hooked on pvp.
As the Big Blue fell apart, I joined the Four Horsemen, the premier pvp corp of Big blue. I flew with them, still learning and using the tactics and skills I picked up from my time in E-UNI. Eventually, I rose to the rank of director in Four Horsemen, and was even doing a bit of FCing.
Sadly, Four Horsemen also fell apart and I ended up joining KIA Corp, still not part of the alliance. I flew with KIA for some time, rising to director even in that corporation. As KIA grew into a full alliance, I was regularly among the top killers of the corporation.
After a while, it was time to move on, and I joined FRICK, a corporation within the Mercenary Coalition alliance - then the premier mercenary alliance in the game and, despite its relatively small size, a much respected pvp force. Ironically, it was Mercenary Coalition who had defeated Big Blue and in part caused its downfall. Still, MC had a great deal of respect from the pilots, especially E-UNI, who had fought in the defence of their home, far better than many so called pvp alliances.
In my time in MC, I was once again promoted to director in my corp, and I not only managed to grind the ISK and skills to be able to fly a carrier, I was also asked by my corp to take over the ship of a departing member. This ship was a Wyvern class mothership.
I'm now part of the Against All Authorities alliance, and while I'm no longer flying the Wyvern, I've managed to acquire a Nyx class mothership instead, as well as a carrier and a dread. I'm still flying my interceptor though, using the same skills and tactics as I used in E-UNI with my trusty Merlin.
I know that many new players are looking at the eve universe and are feeling more than a little intimidated by how huge it is. They look at their frigates, and imagine that they'll never be able to take part in the epic battles with hundres of ships on either side. That is not true - there are plenty of corps out there who are more than willing to take on new pilots and send them out to fight.
You may not be able to fight in the biggest battles at first, but with a good start, a bit of patience and some hard work, you'll easily get in on some nice fleet fights. Eve University is that good start. You could do a whole lot worse than joining up with them. |

I'm new to the game, and just put an app in.
I was just wondering how a player wanting to get into 0.0 PvP would fare in E-UNI? I'm a very fast learner if it helps any. Only been playing a few days, but already trained Cybernetics I for Implants, got Learning to Lv3, fitted my Ammarr Frigate with armor boosting low slot items to make missions easier, got Afterburners trained up, and am currently training Ammarr Frigate from Lv4 to Lv5 (11 days left ) so I can get into Tech2 Frigates. I figure being new it'd be best for me to get good with Frigates first and get into Tackling, and while doing that slowly make my way up into the bigger ships.
I'm only asking because on the website it said that IVY members aren't even allowed to go into 0.0 space, and me wanting to train for 0.0 combat, I feel like I might be shunned off or something

Our policies state that members aren't allowed in 0.0 space unless as part of an event or project - this avoid us having problems where new players wander around war-zones and annoy both sides of a conflict.
However, we just re-launched what was our 'Low-Sec Apprenticeship' project, which as become the ominous sounding 'Division 6'. This initiative includes low-sec survival, should soon include access to 0.0 space for its members, and from March 10th it will also include wormhole exploration as well as teaching the skill needed to live in deep 0.0 space for extended periods. _____

Armond, feel free to evemail me and let me know why you believe that to be the case, and I'll see what I can do about it. Of course, you could also just join us for a while and find out for yourself. ;)
Anyway, something we get asked a fair bit is what do we do with all the members once they have graduated - we provide a "Work Fair" forum area, where outside corporations can recruit from our members, somewhat similar to this area, but with a bit more of a targeted audience.
Those looking to recruit from our members can register on our forums and post their advert, and all that we ask is that they speak to our Director of Diplomacy, and discuss standings with us.
Of course, we can't have any 'preferred' adverts, or suggest members choose one corp over another - to make things fair its a level playing field, no matter if you are a 1 man corp of a 4,000 member alliance. _____

Quote: Experienced Players Do you wish to give something back to the Eve community? Would like to give your game more meaning than the next wallet entry, dead NPC rat, or 0.0 system taken? Become a faculty member at Eve University. You will find teaching and mentoring new players a very rewarding experience, while still being able to enjoy the game. Our criteria for more experienced players is a willingness and desire to help and instruct new players, and to support Eve University's mission.
I was a member of Eve University for 18mths; 15mths I taught classes, I become hanger manager and was promoted to a directors position and held this position for 12mths.
If I had access to a post I had made once on the Uni Forums, expressing what my Experience in the Uni was like, I would of pasted that. But...my memories have been taken away, without warning and for no hostile action on my part.
Something that surprised me when I left the Uni was the lack of everyday Etiquette and Common Courtesy amongst the Uni Leadership. Unlike Dee who said you never really leave; the day you leave is the day you have all access completely removed, without notice not even a thank you note for all the fish.
Some of you may say bitter much or cry me a rain have some cheese with your whine. I agree with you this is a whine, yet my experience, Cazzah has a post asking for people to post their experience this is mine, nothing more. ps. and Kelduum can't delete this one, just because he may not like it.
People always said the work ones does for the Uni is thankless job, those words can be Truer than words never spoken.
If you are a member of the Uni and do get sucked into the Uni is a giving, sharing and caring corp. that they falsely portray. Don't except to be treated with any respect nor thanked for any work you may do or have done. When you leave your knowledge becomes a threat to the Uni and is not wanted.
The Uni survives and is run by very few of the leadership actually doing any work at all. Their are many in the leadership roles who do not log in for months, some scream ahh R/L = Eve, if you are the coach of the local football side and don't show up for the match or training, you would get removed, not in Eve Uni.
However those who do show up to do work to do the work (Teach Class; FC Fleets, Run Mining Ops) get removed anyway. Go Figure? because I can't work that one out. Oh Wait I have worked it out, some people have extremely small p....s and need to extend them, so they hold a position they have no intention to actually doing what the job description states; they do it just hold the title.
I believe thank you notes and thoughtfulness is the single best methods of opening doors and keeping them open when endeavouring to establish and maintain a relationship, both personally and professionally.
MM if you read this I know you of people will act on this and start teaching Etiquette 101 and Common Courtesy 101.
I do thank MM for creating Eve Uni, I am grateful, so thank you. Happy Fifth Birthday Eve Uni and MM.

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way. I'm not sure if you're referring to forum access, which was recently automatically purged for all members no longer in the uni, even people like Dee Carson and myself! I know this isn't so much the place to discuss this but I felt it should be said.
Whether the leadership has problems is not something I feel qualified to judge. But I will say this. To say that you left the uni with no respect or goodwill would be to underestimate your enormous contribution from the corp and the effect it has had on everyone.
Me, and many other students, will always remember the work you have done, and will never forget you as a result. If you ever need a favour done, we will rally to answer.
You were my first teacher, and you taught me to tackle a ship. And so it was for many others.
When I posted about the Australian bushfires, one of the first comments was - is Acacia ok? And that was about 6 months after you left.
For most people in New Eden, they look back and say to themselves - "What did I really accomplish?" - in the end, all their hard work was frittered on getting themselves better internet spaceships, and blowing up other people'a spaceships. You however, can stand tall, knowing that you have made a difference to so many as you shaped their destiny in Eve, and we will always remember that.
You'll always be blue to me and many others Acacia. Never think that the work you did was unappreciated.

As for continuing to recruit, we'd like to thank Sinqlaison for his generous donations to the university and sponsoring our students through their first steps into Eve. In addition, our ads on the login screen have met with tremendous sucess - our recruiting officers are flooded! Expect to hear from us soon as our anniversary comes up.

Edited by: Loch Verus on 23/02/2009 13:54:13 Edited by: Loch Verus on 23/02/2009 13:53:47 Acacia, lots of folks have left the Uni over the years, some under happy circumstances some under less the happy ones. It is the way of adhoc conglomerates in online games. That however doesn't mean that you were not well remembered.
Despite whatever disagreements you might have with the Uni leadership, all of us who were lucky enough to fly with you remember you fondly. I hope someday my heart rate will go down enough so I can be half as calm as you were leading Uni fleets. That competent, patient, and calm voice on TS (and dare I say a a little .. sexy?) was a gift sent from god to eve newbies in their first wars, shaking with excitement and ready to tackle any gate and billboard in sight.
My point is this, I'm sorry you feel that Uni doesn't recognize your efforts, but you are wrong. All of us who were in the Uni at that time know how much you've done and love you for it. If there are people in the leadership you had disagreements with, they are the exception, not the rule.
And that brings me back to the Uni and my experiences there. The reality is that the Uni has its faults, it is run by humans who have faults, and that makes it no different then any other human endeavor. I will even go out and say that I left the Uni feeling marginalized and slighted. And you know what .. I still support the Uni.
At the end of the day the Uni is a unique corporation, not only to eve but the MMO world. Look beyond its faults, and if you are a new player don't walk but run to a recruitment office. The wealth of information and the camaraderie are like nothing else in MMOs

I could sign most of what Acacia mentioned, add some more, but... why bother, TBH? E-Uni is what it is and serves a distinct purpose in its current form. One might not be too flustered with all the implications that have been mentioned above. One might even regret some of the effort spent there. But even that is all part of the learning process to some extent then... Just don't expect to be entitled to any thanks, that's part of it.
There is no free lunch, much less so in EVE-O. One of the valid lessons of E-Uni. Another would be that you need to adapt or die. Adapting meaning in this case to get out quickly in time eventually. Glad I made it, and glad you did, too, Acacia. <3

Edited by: Asuri Kinnes on 24/02/2009 17:56:56 I spent from February through November of 2008 in the Uni. A friend mentioned Eve Uni. I checked it out and entered. I Don't regret that decision a bit. Helped out in chat when I knew something, led a couple of fleets, and met a metric-tonne of good people. Didn't AGREE with them all the time - but that was part of it..
As important as getting into a good corp is (and how hard it is for newbies to even begin to sort through the clutter of corps...) I can recommend the UNI without reservation.
Keep in mind, its a learning institution - your expected to get and give help, learn and teach, and - when its time, to move on.
Props to Morning Maniac for doing this Five Years ago. Props to everyone who helped me, and here's to seeing the Uni in 5 more years!
EDIT: Acacia has the BEST voice in Eve! Honor is that which you do when no one else is looking.

As much as it pains me (and I mean actual physical blood spilling injury pain) to agree with Kenny and Barbie I find pretty much all Acacia & co says to be spot on and theres not really much more I can add to it.
While the majority of the players there are very nice and the "middle management" types are generally cool, there are several especially (not all) directors dont seem to care or appreciate any work done to help and are more interested in making themselves feel like they are super important and the Uni is some huge part of EVE when the reality of it is, when head is removed from ass the majority of people in EVE couldnt give 2 ISK about the Uni.
Also medals were introduced especially to the game for the Uni and therefore they have a responsibility to use them maturely, medals are srs bsns.

The best thing I ever did was roll this main to join the Uni. It's a second account - I was too old to join by the time I found out about the Uni. Sure, I had to fake being a noob a little while , but it was way worth it. A week in and I learned as much as I did in 6 mos outside the uni. And a lot of it was stuff that's not so easy to look up ... the tactics, whys and wherefores as opposed to the mechanics that you can look up.
Start out in Eve Uni. It's a no brainer. Just do it early - don't go sneak in like I did!

So i got a new account a month back, rolled a caldari, found out i absolutely didn't like missiles and since i didn't like my portrait either i decided to just reroll (to find out that new characters start off with 50k SP instead of 800k' ish )

Would very much like to finally learn something about the game. Started playing back in late 2007, but stopped because I really had a hard time getting into the game and learning the ins and outs of it. Ran with a small corp, but left when I left the game for a time. Now I am back, trying to give EVE another shot. Hopefully, I am accepted and can learn alot and enjoy the game more. With over 1000 active characters (defined as those who have logged on in last month) we're basically on at all times. The quiestest is around downtime where you have 30-60 online. As for classes its whatever time the instructor feels like however if you give them a message they are often more than happy to accomodate requests.

I'm not surprised at the wardec. I've always considered E-Uni as one of the more iconic corps in EVE, and then one day while on a pirate-busting roam in our home region, a whole E-Uni fleet jumped through.
I will not name alliances, since this posting is a personal assessment and not that of our alliance diplomat.
So there we were. A 20 something fleet, most of us in little support ships, recovering from engaging a band of pirates that were camping our lifeline to Hi-Sec space, when suddenly, something like a 60+ fleet of E-Uni trainees jumped through. We were bewildered after seeing the corp tag. E-Uni. They rarely come through our space. And then they engaged without warning, no matter they were mostly small ships, the swarm overwhelmed us. One of our pilots lost more than a billion isk worth of ships that day.
Our FC ordered us to retreat and tried to talk to the E-Uni FC with no response. We sent a smartbomber into their midst killing quite a few and they retreated.
The thing was... you attacked an anti-pirate alliance in the guise of training with no apologies afterwards (and they had really really bad fittings when we looked at our killmails afterwards), and you wonder why there are people declaring war on you.

B: Just popping in to hand out a free bump, and yet another reccomendation for newbies to join up. Even if you dont, E-uni players in the public channel will answer most newb questions happily, they're just plain nice guys. If nothing else, give them cookies and run.

We operate on a NRDS policy. Neutrals are not engaged unless they are criminally flagged. Your alliance/corp may have been set to red or orange after it engaged in hostile actions against Eve Uni. If we go to 0.0 we typically engage everyone but blues as part of "rampage" operations, though these are rarely performed and carefully researched beforehand due to diplomatic implications.
As for the FC he may have been busy and not recognised it as a convo from the other fleet, though that is purely speculation on my part.
If you still believe, given the above that the battle should not have occured, or would like to discuss gaining positive standing/removal of red with our alliance, I recommend you or a respresentative contact our diplomat Irdalth Delrar. ______ Cazzah, Recruiting Manager Eve University |

We were actually in 0.0 and we all have pretty high standings with CONCORD, we also have an NRDS policy in lowsec and hisec unless they have GCC, have really bad standings, are wartargets or known pirates. We rarely have engagements in 0.1+ systems and most of us prefer to stick in our space except the traders. And yes, this is enforced strictly too within our alliance.
So yes, I do not see a reason why our alliance would gain a red/orange standing with E-Uni. As I've said before E-Uni players are rarely seen in our space (that was the first time I saw an E-Uni player actually), and AFAIK no kills on E-Uni players has ever been reported before that.
We do have an NBSI policy in our sovereign space, but we recognized the E-Uni tag and were prepared not to engage. Our FC typed in local AND tried to convo with no response. It was during a lull after their initial attack (they were just sitting at the gate doing nothing, thus not busy IMO).
I don't know if they mistook us as part of the fleeing pirates that they must surely have passed while going into our space. Forgive me, but the whole thing looked like it was spur of the moment. A "Let's pop into 0.0 and see what we can kill" kind of thing.
And no, I have no intentions of pursuing this further. We have larger matters to deal with. This character is an alt, and not affiliated to the alliance in question. I hope it remains an isolated incident and E-Uni be more careful when they are doing fleet ops in sovereign space. At least contact diplomats beforehand of the alliances laying claim to the space you will be performing fleet ops in. Most of us have a lot of pirate gangs wandering in and would welcome a helping hand. I just felt bad for my alliance mate who lost 1 billion isk that day.

Yes, sorry about that - the site was missing for a few hours yesterday for a few people.
Small mistake when we were making our new killboard (graciously donated by EVSCO.net) properly live.
Anyway, apart from the recent talks from prominent members of some well known alliances, we also completed our recruitment video contest.
Check out the Winning Entry by Dierdra Vaal, who recieved 1 Billion ISK. And also the First Runner Up by Turhan Bey who recieved 500 Million ISK. _____

The war with the Privateer Alliance has entered its third week.
After some discussion behind the scenes, Eve University has opted for a policy change to allow us to better function during wartime.
As such, recruitment has been opened. Applicants may opt to join the fight with Eve University, or join a chat channel we have running to provide educational materials and normal peacetime resources (eg missioning ops, mining ops, audio classes, lectures).
It is hoped that this divisional split between war and nonwar segments of the University will allow us to effectively fight, while still maintaining a recruitment stream and providing our services. ______ Cazzah, Recruiting Manager Eve University |

The Privateers have been dealt with, and that war is over, but two more wars have appeared.
This doesn't however disrupt our teaching or recruiting however - and everything is still open!

I have been here about a month now, a great place to be. Even though I work over 80hrs a week currently in RL. I can often (yes, even at work) find the time to peruse the huge Uni training audio library to discover things about eve I never would have guessed at.
I am impressed with the determination and strength of will in dealing with enemies too. We were recently greatly outnumbered (really) by multiple corps and getting a real beating. Nothing gets them down, eve after losing our only POS. They just seem to bounce back double hard and everyone chips in to support the corp. The attitude is always one of non-stop progress.
Even at the slowest time of day, there are always heaps of people to talk with and answer questions. All questions I have asked have been answered immediately by knowledgeable instructors and senior graduate students. If you join with good intentions, this is the place to start off eve right. Furthermore, instructors who are big names and FC's in other 0.0 organizations also commit their valuable time to serving the UNI, not only teaching classes, but leading/herding aimless noobs like me into the cauldron of battle. So even if you are not a new pilot, join Eve Uni to share your experience and affect how the next generation of pilots gets their first eve experience.
I just look forward to playing the game someday

Joining sometime before the expansion was the 2nd day of my trial account, I was really unsure if I was going to play much longer after that in my search to find a new home in MMO's. And that's when I talked to an EUNI RO and got accepted into EUNI. That first day I took a trip to the Eve Gate in my shiny frigate from tutorial missions, and it hooked me to Eve instantly.
I played out my first 2 months in EUNI, participating in wars up until the expansion, where I then learned about wormholes with other students.
Now, almost 4 months later, I have my own corp and still talk to Unistas via chat, where I can give help to new players in ways of ISK and knowledge. I can hold Mining Ops which I've done before and had great reception, and I can even teach a class if I wish. I'm still involved with EUNI, my first corp in game.
Thank you EUNI for your help, great members, wonderful classes and skilled FC's. I would fly with you guys anytime! ---- <Insert Wit> |

If you read 4 pages of this thread and still not convinced (seriously?), I thought I'd throw my experience into the hat: after aimlessly wandering around high sec mining and mission grinding in a npc corp, I decided I needed a change to stop myself rage quitting. So I found out about eve uni from this very thread and joined.
Two and abit months later, I'm now a Recruiting officer, a combat pilot that has fought captial ships in low sec, been in a 200 man POS battle and been a fleet commander that has lead a lead a fleet of 20 ships. I've organised mining ops and attended classes hosted by directors of Goonswarm. I also know how to fit every bloody T1 frigate in the game despite the fact I've only flown one race.
So yeah, its kinda cool here.

Well it is time for me to move on to new challanges. I would like ot thank the UNI as without the Uni I would not be playing this game. The learning experiances that you gain from the UNI is respected throughout all regions of V-Space. If you are new and want to learn without getting scammed then the UNI is the place to go.
The UNI will teach you mostly all aspects of the game, But you have to ask and you also have to want to learn. EVE is not a game for people with little time in researching what you need to do to play the game. The game is not something you can learn in a week be the best at everything in a month. EVE takes time and that is what the UNI is there for . The game is taught to you by players who have done it and seen it. we are all volenteers to the Uni and we are here to help you learn.
So if you are New to the game or ready to quit the game because you dont understand it. Join EVE UNIVERSITY to learn about the game.
EVE UNI - THANKS and see you in space.

Very happy I found Eve University early on in my Eve Career. I plan to be around for quite awhile. I really appreciate all the great advice I've received and the classes I've attended have been invaluable. I'd recommend Eve University to any new pilot. You simply can't go wrong.

It was topical to read several post in this thread along the lines that they owe staying in eve to eve-uni, or would have left if it had not been for eve-uni. I feel very similar. When i joined the first time I probably would have left without them. After i did leave the uni i did leave eve. And now when ive come back but cant get in i dont think im gona stay. The people in eve-uni, and the corp they have created, are just that good. So as a testimonial if you are thinking about it joining the uni - you will not regret the decision if you do. GL guys and gals, and keep it up.

Hello all,
Just a reminder that Eve University welcomes pilots of all kinds. I moonlight as a recruitment officer while ordinarily helping manage the University's mining and industrial fleet. We have many good things going on at the University for industrialists, as well as perhaps the best Planetary Interaction Taskforce in existence.
Please do not hesitate to join our E-UNI public channel and apply to our corporation. See the original post for more details.
Enjoy,

I'm OMW out at the moment to seek new adventures and try new things BUT I have to say that joining the Uni is a decision I most certainly did not regret. The folks there are helpful, friendly and nice. There's no such thing as a stupid question there and their instructors are knowledgable and extremely accomodating. Within the uni everything that seemed daunting before just isn't anymore and, despite the transient nature of its members, there's a comraderie there to rival that of any corp with long established members (esp within the ILN!). Bottom line...if you're new GO THERE. If you're not new but just in between corps at the moment, GO THERE (you'll probably still learn something and make new friends :) ). And of course if you like teaching feel free to go as well. You'll be adding your name to a great legacy :) .

If you're new to the game, or getting bored of running missions/mining/etc and wondering what else is out there, this is the corp to join.
Plenty of members spread across all timezones, always something to do. Classes covering every aspect of EVE in great detail: mission-running, fitting, pvp, fleets, mining, lowsec, nullsec, wormholes, industry, trading - and just about everything else. Whatever you're interested in doing in New Eden, or especially if you're not quite sure what you want to do, this is the place to do it.
E-UNI has ex-members in just about every part of EVE, from major 0.0 alliances to lowsec pirates, wormhole explorers to industrial empires. You'll meet new people, learn new things and understand what the game has to offer.
Sooner or later most people move on. But whatever they decide to do, they're better pilots and have more experience and options thanks to the time they spent in the Uni.

The benefits to our members are fantastic and what you will learn here can save you hours upon hours of frustrating research, and possibly piles of ISK.
With our new and improved recruiting process the time has never been better. You may have heard we are at war yet again. Our morale is high and we are having fun. Classes continue and even the newest of players are quickly finding themselves able to be part of our fleets. Our Recruiting Department has grown and our Personnel Officers are working hard to move through the queue.

Our new recruitment process introduced back in January has seen waiting time for an interview drop from weeks to days. Many interviews I take on are with those that have been waiting for perhaps 3 or 4 days at the most. I waited 19 days under the old system and that was relatively fast. It was well worth it and now you too can enjoy the benefits in a much quicker time.

Eve University does not welcome new or experienced players. I'm an inexperienced player with a character I've built skill points to 12mil until I could have the time to devote to the game. Edited by: Marius Labo on 07/06/2011 23:59:27 Things are very exciting around EVE University! We have gone past the 1700 member mark this past weekend (June 4 and 5, 2011) and we had one of our "surprise" Queue-smasher events! We had 24 Personnel staff plus our CEO, Kelduum Revaan, doing interviews. In that time frame we achived 152 completed interviews.
Gone are the days of the long queue waiting times (I waited 19 days, at that was below average then) and some are even getting there interview within hours, even minutes, of finalizing their application and questionnaire. You can expect on average to wait just a few days, depending on how long and when you are on.
Are you needing to learn something in EVE? Is that something that EVE University teaches? We are unique in New Eden, in that we are teaching corp with a focus on helping newer players learn the game and become satisfied with their time and experience in EVE Online. Many of our Graduates move on, some within weeks, others in months, and find themselves enjoying the greater experience of EVE Online.
Are you new to the game? Did you start up that trial account and are finding yourself overwhelmed? Apply to EVE University today (or tonight, or tomorrow, depending on your time-zone ). You can find all you need right here at Applying to EVE University.

I'm considering sending in an application, but I'd like to be certain it makes sense to do so. I'm not a new player. I've been around for a while keeping to myself largely in high sec, pursuing a subsistence level of activity in mining, manufacturing, missioning, anomaly exploration, planetary interaction, a little bit of courier work, etc.--hell, I'll admit it--even some ninja salvaging when my wallet was thin. So I'm somewhat knowledgeable about how to play the game, I fly my ships pretty well, and I do all right for myself, if not great.
With that said, I often leave the game for large periods at a time, I've only got about 9 million SP, and I've only grouped up with other players maybe twice. I feel as though there's a lot that I could learn about things like fleet dynamics and what happens in low sec, not to mention PvP. So would it be appropriate for somebody like me to enroll for a stint until I can broaden my understanding of areas of the game that have been somewhat closed off to me until now?

Edited by: Marius Labo on 01/08/2011 07:43:28 And there is evermore exciting changes! We have rolled out our new recruiting tools including how you register and complete a questionnaire. We are operating our old queue for about a week to clear out those applicants. For details you can read up on EVE University Application Changes.
If you're new to EVE Online or you've been around a bit and feel you could stand to learn more, or perhaps you feel you have something to offer to New Eden's newest capsuleers then look at applying to EVE University.

Hello, I'm new to eve, been training for Trade and soon will be in my MARK V for hauling! Hoping to get into a freighter and skill into production & PI, does [E-UNI] have many pilots skilled in this field? If so I would be thrilled to become a member of this corporation!
Thanks, Nori vega

We have students/teachers from all voer the world, although less of both in Oceanic time zone. We have classes in oceanic timezone and you can find people to chat to and mission with in all time zones. Although getting a big PVP fleet togheter migth be hard in that timezone, we offer an active player base in all timezones.

My application has been declined without an explanation and without even anybody talking to me or giving me an interview after waiting in that queue for nearly a month. Not nice.

This sounded a little odd, so I looked into it. Unfortunately our systems don't readily log the time spent in the queue, however they do record a few other things.
From our logs, you were rejected as you had significant (in excess of 15 million) SP, two accounts, and no real learning goals, so from guidelines provided to our staff, we would likely not have been able to help you.
However this was back in march, almost 6 months ago, and the rejection information we provide details exactly what do do if you would like a senior member of staff to review your case. I would suggest you have a look for this, but from what I can see, it's unlikely you would be accepted 6 months further on.
If you have any other questions feel free to EVEmail me with them.
Thanks,

That is basically correct, I have paused/quit the game on and off for months at a time because I just had nothing to do and kept collecting SP while listening to all your audio lectures and educating myself with WIKIs, I have about 17m SP.
I was really looking forward to learning more in a team and making EVE a social experience for me (2 times, once with my char Hundenapf and once with Ankura). Was really disappointed that over the course of a year nothing came through, that not even an interview took place or a reason was given and I have been spending my EVE time in single player mode running missions from time to time but basically have lost interest completely as everybody in space seems to be either a scammer or an elitist seclusionist.
