And I see a LOT of this attitude in EVE. I think everyone knows what I mean.
"Most troubling of all is Breivik's obsession with the multiplayer role-playing World of Warcraft, a violent online game that he played "full-time" between 2006 and 2007. Indeed, one of the few times that he smiled this week was when the image of his World of Warcraft character was displayed in court."

They're like fungus or bacteria, they won't die and they won't stop. All you have to show for years of organized harassment campaigns against them is ... nothing. |

I wonder what class his "toon" was, probably a Paladin. I mean, he was into the "Knights Templars".
**Edit** Hmmm nope, it appears it's a Mage:

Rule No 1: there has always to be someone/something to blame on Rule No 2: and its never the society or the family
I am getting sick of this crap journalism nowadays, they are calling WoW violent, SERIOUSLY???? Hopefully we will never see an EVE mass murder (I mean it, killing people in RL is not funny) but on the other side the probability of getting a EVE mass murder are rare because they just don't have the time:
- to busy fueling POS - docked due to wardec - gate camping - CTA - on the forums - looged off and waiting on coms to jumps that noob in a BC - afk cloaking (you never know)
and most important and time intensive stuff in EVE
- moving stuff (might be personal, but it looks that the only thing I am doing over the last months :) Touch my **** and I will **** your **** with an rusty **** and **** into your ****, and then I will **** your **** until you ******************** |

American statists (thought believed to be conservatives, really infest both ends of the political spectrum) might jump all over this. There's the so-called left who thinks we are all too dumb to survive and need a nanny state to protect us from everything, and there's the so-called right who thinks we are all too evil to survive and we need a police state to protect us from everything.
I don't know how they handle things in Norway, but in the US of Blame, there are people sitting behind desks every day looking for something to scare people who have kids with so they can get more votes and more money.
Still, as a gun owner, it would be nice to see all those who live in the dream world of MMOs have to put up with the "somebody somewhere did something bad so we have to pass more laws to control everybody" routine.
You see, back in the school days, when one kid pulled a prank, and they punished everybody, that as conditioning to make you ready to lose your rights when the wind-up toys do their thing.
So, to all those people whose corp, shiny ship, or alliance was THE most important thing in their lives while the world is being wrecked by banksters and eugenicists, take a good look at that article. The nanny and police statists will eventually get to something you care about, even if all you care about is playing games.

The very last thing I did in WOW before I left was hand over the guild to a noob. I logged in for the last time and found that everybody else transferred off the Medihv server, so I was guild master and alone.
But some noob wanted to start a guild, and I brought him in, put him in charge, and that was that.
The noob was totally stoked.
The name of the guild was "Knights Templar".
Could that noob have been..... oh no!

"World of Warcraft, a violent online game" lol
I wonder how many people who have killed another person ever watched The Godfather or Scarface etc? I bet every single one, when can we ban those movies? Also I miss the better debate we use to have 30 years ago about how hard rock music made people homicidal and such music should be banned forever. Punk was also the reason we had violence on the streets in the 80's right?
The only conclusion I can draw from this observation of him playing WoW for that much time is obvious to me, shame it is not as obvious to others.
PS: The Theater is to blame why we have bastards today walking the streets and why people make fun of the king. |

Since the 80s I played violent video games (Pacman involved chasing down, killing, and eating poor little ghost things) and they made me join the Marines and do horrible things to my fellow man which I enjoyed greatly because of violent video games.

What they don't like or understand, they quickly label.
Nevermind the fact that millions of people watch violent or directly gore movies every day, for instance. Everything comes down to videogames and metal music. And nobody vouches for acting against Hollywood studios.
Anders Breivik is a murderous bastard, but linking his acts to one of his hobbies is random and unjustified.
For instance, the Virginia Tech massacre dude (Seung-Hui Cho) liked country music, among others.
Where are all the hysterical journalists linking listening to Garth Brooks and shooting 32 people to death?
The F++hrer seemed to like painting and tried to get into an art academy. Should we burn the Louvre, lest it turns our children into fascist warmongers?
Some people would do anything for a controversial headline, but this is getting old, and anybody with two working braincells can see the stupidity of this discussion. |

Whether it's Country Music, "The Catcher in the Rye", or "Call of Duty", or 16 hours a day of WoW, the point is OBSESSION is obsession, no matter what the form.
That's what needs to be looked at, not the specific focus of the obsession which the major media does.

Before there was the Internet did people read a lot of books and we did not blame Alfred Hitchcock or Agatha Christie for murders either. People are only searching for answers in hope to find an easy solution to a problem, which I believe is "caused" by an over-growing population. People have always murdered others and with populations growing denser should one expect to see more mass murder than less. There are only two solutions that I can see. Either have a better weapon control or allow for everyone to carry weapons and to defend themselves. No more crappy expansions! - Raise A Little Hell |

The primary reason for murder/violent crime is unemployment, after that you got people with psychological problems that need help. That are sick. Ill.
Weapon control...hmm...yeah, I'll go with that, de-weaponize everyone. No guns, no gun crime. Instead we'll get knife crime and baseball bat crime and perhaps, chainsaw crime.
Openly admitting I got the following information from Wikipedia; gun crime in the USA costs $100 billion a year - I nearly wasted a mouthful of good coffee when I read that.
