Could anyone give me the names of the missions with ore in them, not the ones with the crap asteroids in them that arent sellable, also not the actual mining missions. |

Depends what ores you want? Is so many with ores in them.
Eg if wanting kernite, enemies abound 1/5 is good. If want omber, Enemies abound 1/5 also good, rogue slave trader 2/2 (lvl 3 and 4?), also good. Was another lvl 3 with omber and gneiss (part 1 was kill mercs and mine some green ore, think parts 2-7 were mostly shooting drones and courier) which I can't spot for looking atm.

You're thinking of New Frontiers part 1. Mission ore is some Green Aristle, or somesuch, but there is also a load of Gneiss rocks and Omber.

massive attack contains a lot of pyrox which can be useful if its not an ore local to you. in general with mission mining i use an orca where gate gaps are too big, its almost tailor-made

Mordu Headhunter level 4 for a big quantity of velspater (I have scanned only half of the roids, but that part was above 500K units), some pyro and scordite.

Ohh and it can not be farmed as entering stage 2 completes objective,so ideally accept mission after downtime and mine it clean before next downtime..

Do not mine the asteroids in Blockade: they are booby trapped and will explode, dealing damage to every ship on grid every time your mining laser cycles.

Ah, but how much damage and what type is what I'd really like to know ...
... as I'm afraid that my first thought upon reading was to scan out someone doing this mission, then warp in a heavily tanked (and perhaps even insured) Rokh * with high slots full of Miner I's, then lock up a big rock and trigger a Miner every 7.5 seconds on auto-cycle ...
... then wait a minute for the carnage to begin

We are a few currently taking notes and posting them in the "Mining in Regular Missions" section of the Eve-Survival website, or even in the mission briefings themselves ...
Regarding the "The Blockade" mission, the 'roids in the level 2 version against Guristas are indeed booby-trapped, they launch a "smartbomb" of 500 EM damage each time a mining laser cycles, but mining drones don't trigger the smartbomb. <~ sig starts here

That's cool. Be aware that some of that info already exists in mission reports, so you should update your 'Mining in Regular Missions' chart to at least include the information you already have. Enemies Abound 1, 3, and 4 I believe have significant quantities of Omber, and as others have said EA4 1/5 also has kernite. Linkage

The Assult but you will need to haul from the gate its 45KM to the roids in the first room. (Orca is awsome for this) also there is 2M + units in Attack of the Drones and its not gated so its easy to mine.
Blockade lvl 4 is not booby trapped as I mined it out the other day and had no problems. I really wish CCP would move the rocks nearer the gates but i understand it would make things too easy -)

I get that. My point is that as a starting point your chart could at least include the obvious missions with roids in them that are already documented (like Enemies Abound) without you actually having to wait until you run those missions yourself. That's all. I wasn't trying to call you a janitor or anything. Just trying to help...

The blockade roids - the two very largest monster sized ones are booby trapped. However a well setup HULK can survive them.
The explosions do universal damage, and do it on cycle completition.
So if a flipper flies in to have a go, stop the mining cycle - and then go scoop the loot. No agro either.
I know it's like this in level 4, not sure about others.

Blockade level 4 does not have any roids and as far as I remember neither the level 3 version. Only the level 2 has roids and all of them are trapped. So don't bother in a mining barge coz you will get blown up. You need either an exhumer with shield booster, or a good tanking miner cruiser or a BS. My hulk has no problem tanking the damage with an EM and a therm amplifier and a gistii small booster.

I'd started compiling a guide a few months ago, I got bored, so here's the incomplete version split into parts.
Ill's Guide To Mining Non-Mining Missions =========================================
Encounter missions frequently contain mineable asteroids as part of the scenery. While you're suposed to be spending time dealing with the mission objectives, frequently in the form of rats representing some faction or other, you can instead spend some effort mining these asteroids as a bonus.
-=Why would you do this?=-
Primarily because it gives you a largely private location, out of the way of other players who might have an agenda for ruining your day. It's especially useful if your empire based mining corporation is subject to a war-dec, since it's a whole lot harder to scan down ships in deadspace than it is to fly to every belt in a system. Never assume that it's 'not worth the effort' to scan you down, since you're sitting still for long periods then the pirates and reds have plenty of time to break out the scan probes and go looking for you. At best you can expect to have a little more time to notice hostiles in local. If you're wardecced then it might be a good plan to pick a decently high traffic system in empire so that the number of scan signatures will make it harder to find yours.
Similarly, the privacy enables you to solo jetcan with less chance of an ore thief or can flipper getting involved, again in theory they can track you down, but with so many potential targets in the main belts you're unlikely to get a dedicated ore thief scanning you down. Ninja salvagers OTOH are likely to stumble upon your secret little operation and are more likely to be annoyed that they spent their scan probes only to find you mining.
With mission asteroids you never need to worry about someone having cleared out the belt before you got there, after all, technically the asteroids didn't spawn until you got there. You also can mine without the extra stress of seeing fleets of macro hulks with random names, we've all petitioned enough of them and they don't go away, it's easier to just leave them to their thing and hide in your own secret corner of space.
Personally, I also like the fact that you get to deal with the belt rats all on your own, especially when you're lucky enough to get an officer spawn there's no huge rush to loot the wreck when you're the only one in the space. I was once lucky enough to pick up a pirate implant worth about 72million from a True Sansha frigate, so whenever I see those special spawns in belts I feel I can't ignore them. The rats usually don't add much to your gains, unless you move your hulk to low-sec, but that's just asking for someone to scan you down and pop your ship.
-=What can you mine?=-
Generally most mission asteroids are veldspar, with scordite, pyroxeres and plagioclase being relatively common. Kernite and Omber are found in small quantities in a few missions and in one ecstatic moment I found myself with 3000 units of Arkonor in a mission 2 jumps from Jita. All the asteroids I've seen are the basic grade ores, no +5% and +10% variations have been sighted, but I have seen Fools Grade ore which essentially refines to nothing. Also, there are plenty of actual mining missions with special mission ore - chondtrite, pithix, augumene, banidine etc which is only usable for the mission, these are not the missions I'm interested in here.
Unlike asteroid belts, the ore content of missions is not affected by the system's security level, so you don't find any more exotic ores in low-sec missions vs hi-sec missions. Thankfully, the prices of tritanium right now mean that you should be quite happy with the crops of veldspar available to you in most missions.

[24]
-=What Are the Drawbacks?=-
Primarily the main drawback is that many missions don't have mineable asteroids, and since you have only limited control over mission selection you might have to deal with a few agents to get a reasonable mission to spawn. On the other hand, it's perfectly possible to farm many missions for a week since they respawn at downtime if the key mission goals haven't been accomplished.
As mentioned, mission spaces don't contain the higher quality versions of the ores so you're missing out on the 5-10% bonus from mining the best ores.
Missions also need to be cleared out to remove distractions to the mining operation, with level 1 missions and a hulk you don't even need to change ships, just use your drones while your strip miners get to work on the scenery. But harder missions might need some more firepower, or tankability from your miners, thankfully the quantity and quality of mineable scenery has almost no correlation with the difficulty of the mission.
Many missions take place in deadspaces behind acceleration gates, in these cases you can't set bookmarks inside the space, so your travel time is greatly increased. Also, some mission designers are clearly wise to our plans and place ginormous asteroids 60km away from the warp in point. A distance that takes an eternity to cross in a hulk with cargo expanders, this travel through deadspace is going to kill your rate of return so be sure to know when to quit. It's a little easier with a gangmate in a hauler with a tractor beam to pull your jetcans across that seemingly vast gulf of deadspace.
And then there are the missions which have gate restrictions in place which only permit smaller ships to enter. If you haven't yet made the jump to a mining barge then these might still be of some use to you if you're still flying a cruiser or frigate (or even a mining battleship, but I've never seen a gate which blocks mining barges but still allows battleships). If you can't take an industrial in to move your ore out then you can just jetcan up as much ore as you feel like, bookmark the cans and then complete the mission so you can return to the location without the deadspace penalty.
-=Tools For The Task=-
Depending on which missions are available to you, the choice of ships and hardware varies
The Hulk: miner and hauler in one, it's the best mining ship you can get, but it's so slow that you're unlikely to want to take it into every deadspace.
Harvester Implants: while these are as rare as hens teeth they do have the effect of increasing the range of your mining lasers, which can make many of the more spread out deadspace fields vastly more accessible. Not sure it's worth the cost though...
The Orca: hugely useful in a gang for it's boosts and cargo hold. The tractor beam is awesome for clearing up cans without having to creep around deadspace.
(clearly this was a bit I was still writing)

-=Selected Missions With Mineable Asteroids=-
* Making Mountains Out Of Molehills (9 of 10) This is one of the tutorial missions that are given to newbie prospectors and industrialists the mission is simple, fly to a location in space, mine some kernite and kill the rat that spawns. Except that given the price of unrefined kernite , and your noob status it's far more profitable to farm this little field into submission for a few days. It's especially good for the mission in non-Amarr space because the prices are higher there. The field spawns 5950 units of Kernite per day, which can be mined in less than half an hour (less than 6 minutes if you really know what you're doing) and sells for 200-300isk per unit *as long as you don't refine it*. By farming this field for a few days I took a noob toon on a trial account into an osprey with TII Cargo Expanders and Mining Lasers.
* Break Their Will Has Rings of Veldspar and a cluster of Scordite with plenty of ore which will keep you busy. In addition it's not a deadspace so you can bookmark the asteroids and jump directly to them, and, since the spawn trigger for the NPC's is attacking the station you don't even need to clear the mission before starting to mine. (of course, you might find some ninja salvagers blowing up the station just to trigger the spawn and annoy you). The only real downside is the rocks are so spread out that you end up with partly filled jetcans spread all over the place, not a problem for the Orca with it's long range tractor beams of course. 10/10
* Unauthorized Military Presence There are a few different faction variants, but all of them have masses of veldspar and the other usual suspects and some amount of navigation in deadspace. Kill all the small ships and leave the Personell transports alone they will attack you while you mine but a decent mining ship can tank these all day without needing any special fitting. 8/10
* Cargo Delivery Has plenty of Veldspar scattered around, and no enemy spawns until you approach the cargo can in the middle of the station. Unfortunately, entering the mission space causes the mission to be flagged as complete so you can't farm this one, and if you don't pick up the contents of the can on day one then you need to buy the special delivery off the market (synthetic oil, silicate glass, spiced wine, quafe ultra). 7/10
*Escaped Dissident Decent amount of veldspar in the first room, plus some destroyable structures you can set your drones on for some extra loot if you're bored. Most of the roids will be exhausted in less than a cycle of a strip miner, but a few are large enough to keep you busy. 7/10
* The Hidden Stash Has exactly the same setup as 'Escaped Dissident' the only difference being that you don't want to destroy the warehouse for the loot because that'll trigger mission completion. 7/10
Technological Secrets (1 of 3) 50,000 Omber plus some scordite and veldspar
* An End To Eavesdropping Storyline mission, 200,000 veldspar in a single asteroid.
* A Case Of Kidnapping Storyline, lots of small rocks throughout the mission including some omber in the penultimate room.
* Drone Infestation A few Veldspar and scordite 'roids, but they're a fair distance from the gate. 3/10
* Silence The Informant Has veldspar & scordite in the second deadspace pocket, but it's 45-90km from the warp in point, a hulk would probably mine it out in about the same time as it took to fly into range. 2/10
* Get The Relic & Corporate Documents 35km to the first Jump Gate across deadspace... and then it only allows T1 Frigates & Cruisers, but there are plenty of asteroids on the other side of the gate so if you're desperate you might take an osprey through and fill a jetcan or two before completing the mission. 2/10

* Smuggler Interception (Blood Raiders) Had 1 Big chunk of veldspar 50km way from the gate, if you want it then Jetcan, bookmark and complete the mission. 1/10
Other Missions with Mineable Asteroids * Deadly Arrival
* Missions With Nothing Of Value Drone Detritus Avenge A Fallen Comrade Eliminate The Pirate Campers Pirate Intrustion Sansha Spies Ambushed Ally (Storyline) Silence The Informant Threat From Afar Fobidden Cloning Lost That Bet (well technically there's a miniscule amount of veldspar in one of the missions) Trimming The Fat Disgruntled Employee
-=That's All For Now=- There are many many more missions, I've only really scratched the surface here, and there are many more factions which have missions unique to them. So, I'm hoping to enhance this over time as I collect more data.

As an aside, you get more ISK/hour by running those missions with roids in them than by mining, so financially it doesn't make sense. You're better off running missions and buying the minerals you need for production. 30 mil ISK/hour >> 7 mil ISK/hour (and that's assuming selling the ore/minerals where they're mined...). What's worse, bringing additional characters for missions is a multiplier, whereas with mining additional hauler characters are bringing down your overall net income, not to mention the time spent hauling the ore/minerals to market to sell them.
I suppose if you're looking for a low-return AFK activity it's decent, but frankly with the right ship setup you can AFK missions and still earn more. But that's just me, and it's the reason I stopped mining in favor of missions.

Well that's the classic argument that missions make more money than mining, but I can mine while doing other things in meatspace. I can mine for 10 hours a day while doing my day job.
I can't run missions while coding.
And then my profits can get funneled straight into my epic PVP battles in 0.0 when I can actually give eve 100% attention.

Edited by: Kusum Fawn on 02/03/2009 16:50:43 As an edit for the above posters - Rogue Slave Trader, The (1 of 2) / Downing The Slavers (2 of 2) Level 3 has 200k of omber as well as the veld and scord, I got this mission twice in a row, and opened it to my corp, farming this mission for the 7 days it was available netted 1600 k of omber (start a few hours before downtime and you get an extra spawn) as well as the huge amounts of veld and scord, 3 hulks and an orca are the optimal for this mission as the roids always spawn in the same places and are divided up very nicely between a high middle and low hulk with the orcas range bonus. In or near a storyline mission agent this can be extremely profitable as well as supplying you with materials to build stuff, 1,400 k of omber go s a long way towards t1 frigate building and you can save a healthy reserve for corp storylines there as well (200k = 20 storylines more then enough to last for a while)
there are 6 rats that spawn, but they are easily killed with a drake, myrm, Harb, or any well tanked cruiser, (thorax and caracal worked but were slightly longer) even t2 drones out of the 3 hulks and the orca didi the job but you have to manage aggro a bit more, I suggest drake, takes you less then 5 minutes to kill and salvage.

Hi!
Does anyone know which Agent Divisions (eg Administration, etc) give out these missions?
What division gives the highest chance to get these missions where there are asteroids in them? If I focus on divisions which give mostly combat missions, will the chance be higher ,compared to divisions that give out mostly courier missions?
Thanks !!

I just got "Enemies abound" 1 of 5. (lvl 4 - Quality 6) caldari navy agent mission.
According to eve missions guide, this mission is a miners dream filled with:
1,260,000 Omber (14x 90k-roids) 800,000 Scordite (16x 50k-roids) 350,000 Kernite (14x 25k-roids)
All M3. Would think it would take hours upon hours for my corp mates who mine to strip it.

It's nice to know about some of these high level missions, but not every miner can clear level 3's and 4's before getting to work on the rocks. I tried to concentrate on missions where it was easy for an industrialist to deal with the low level spawns, or even just tank them in a hulk.
Of course, if someone found a big chunk of Arkonor in a lvl4 my Raven would clear a path to it in no time.

Yes the higher kill mission rate, the better chance of getting missions whit roids in them... If you pick a corp whit 3-4 lvl 4 agents in close range of each others, then you can basically get them nonstop. It will take a few days to get it right..Just keep the cycle going even if you have a mission you can farm,so you have a replacement after that mission expires.. Or even better if you run 2 accounts which you should do if you mine missions this way,get both the miner and the haulers standing up whit the agents..Then you suddenly have 8 agents too pick missions from

My corp goes after the rox in those missions. We get a lot of grief from the locals whenever we eat a belt in about an hour, so we almost exclusively mine mission rox. We go after Kern only in "quiet" and nothing more so I don't give it away and start seeing crowds.

Recon (3/3) is a good one for mining for the wrong reasons... Get yourself an orca, put your mining ships in the bay - they are usually too flimsy to survive the flight to the gate, but the orca can tank it without trouble. It's just kinda tedious to fly the distance.
But eventually jump through to the other side, launch those mining ships and start loading the orca up.
Now, when I mine missions I get the occasional probing ninja salvager turning up following ship signatures. Well if they do it on recon (3/3) their fragile covert ops ship flies straight into that exploding gas cloud. The language in local was quite entertaining.

Break their will level 3 is full of Veldspar and Scordite
not on the mood of scanning them all but:
- 40x Veldspar roids, them all seem to be 70-80k so about 3millions - 20x Scordite roids, from 40k to 80k, so about 1.2 millions
profit!!
