You know, this thread reminds me why I'm nowhere near as good at eve market as I should be. I keep looking at opportunities, going "naaah, nobody is THAT stupid" and passing up sure bets. And yet, people are glad to demonstrate their lack of higher brain function again and again.
Lord Fitz = could not be any more right.
People arguing with him = how do you remember to breathe?
Me = not an Akita alt, although it's getting harder to convince people.
Go ahead and try to manipulate PLEX prices down by accumulating supply and dumping. Really. There's billions to be made.

Lets set this thread straight since Im honestly tired of making close to 100m a day off these things and will happily pass on the torch.
GTC and PLEXs work in the same manner that Gift Cards do. The issuer gets your dollars (or whatever you are buying them in) and then can deliver the service or good at a later date. This is good for the issuer CCP, since they have more capital to utilize and less service to deliver. This is good for the player also since it allows them to use their in game time and assign a real world wealth value to it.
Why would CCP want GTC and PLEX pricing lo? From a CCP standpoint is that while these prices are low they can capitalize on more sales from casual sellers, which in turn equals more capital to work with while having to deliver less service.
So you can rest assure that if it is within their power, they WILL from a business standpoint introduce mechanisms which both encourage the sale of wealth for isk directly to CCP and increase the exchange ratio between those two whenever possible.
To be perfectly honest, I think other MMOs would stand to take a look at how CCP is handling RMT and copy the procedure. CCP got it right, people are going to buy things with cash period.... cut out the middle man and just get the cash to the developer ASAP. |

As long as isk sellers are cheaper then gtc alot of ppl are going to be buying isk to to pay for much cheaper game time.
They can buy almost 4 gtc's for 35$ in that way. Because of this fact the market will self stabalize around the point where it's almost the same to sell a gtc or buy from isk sellers. At which point either isk sellers will sell for much cheaper and/or go out of business.
