Only once per ship. When Ship is destroyed you the item returns to your home hangar (there where your clone is at).

I'd like to say that your fears are unfounded but the wording of the announcement makes it clear that they intend to use the redeeming system for other offers in the future. I'd like to know if they have a mission statement for the redeeming system that indicates what lines they will NOT cross. Blizzard have a statement like that which states what restrictions premium services for World of Warcraft will follow. It has rules like items sold for cash being superficial and never integral to the game. If EVE had the same rules, that would mean buying a ship with cash would never happen but superficial enhancements like changing your character portrait or getting the ability to paint a logo on your ship would. I can't believe I'm arguing with you but.. This isn't about buying PLEXes directly from CCP, it's about the future offers they will release on this new "Redeeming" system. They've made it clear that there will be further offers and the PLEX thing is just the first offer available. At the moment they're all you can buy but the system itself could function as an RMT marketplace and CCP have never to my knowledge published an official policy on where they will and will not take RMT. I'm not trying to blow this out of proportion or anything, I think the "Redeeming" system will probably just be used to lower the barrier for entry for people to puchase existing products like character transfers, portrait switches and game time codes.
