Well, until I donated all of the tradable stuff to The Merchant Marines that were sticking around. Spiffy game. I think everyone knew the writing was on the wall when the updates / patch messages got completely retarted, cutting and pasting information that had been out for nearly 2 years.

I won't ever buy another EA game. Not just for closing EAB, but for not releasing the source code for another company to pick it up. To just let the game die like that.

But then again, if I hadn't quit ENB, I wouldn't be playing Eve. And I like Eve more. Twisted Evil

You are the one I sold my Buddy Code to back around Jan 2003 for 500k! Shocked

On topic:

Gank me, Pod me, whatever, but It won't make me not say this:

The basics: Earth & Beyond was more fun, and more 'get and go' (which made it great for times you were busy).

Graphics: CATUION: RADICAL STATEMENT AHEAD; PERONAL OPINION ONLY- Earth & Beyond actually had better graphics. Why? It was more colorful. "OMG CARTOONISH!!!" you say? I don't know about everyone else, but for me, looking at bland background colors and white crosses (NPCs) while pressing buttons on a miniscule GUI gets very boring.

Naturally, humans are more attracted to crisp colors rather than bland colors In my opinion, so don't start "OMFG you cartoon watching kid" thing, please. How do I try to prove my hypothesis?

Hypothetical situation: 2 supermarkets are beside eachother. One is proffesionally decorated with alot of lights, pictures, special effects and nicely varied crisp colors; other is a simple square building without anything. Assuming everyone knows that both sell items at the same price and same quality, which one would most people most likely go into?

Story: Earth & Beyond had a great story filled with suspence, drama, irony and anomaly research. Enviroment was constantly (and at times dramatically) affected by story events. EvE, you say, has a player-driven story (OMG), but comon, "CA Invades SA. 100 Pod killed, 200 ships destroyed. OMFG GANKERS OMG EXPLOITERS!!! OMG GMS BAN!!!!" doesn't make a good storyline.

PvP: Player vs. Player? The game has been out for a YEAR and CCP is still trying to balance PvP- a sign that PvP is not yet fully ready for MMORPGs... plus, all the posts about ganks, carebears, pirates...

LEVEL TREADMILL!!!: Hmm. You might have a point.. but- what is a person with 9 mil skillpoints gonna do in his only Ibis? My point is- ISK here = experience in any other MMORPG. Without ISK you do not progress, and to get ISK you kill rats, just like you kill...umm.. rats (the four-legged ones) in fantasy MMORPG for experience.

Keep in mind that what I said is my personal opinion, but many from E&B share same opinions with me.

I'm playing EvE just to fill my time untill WoW ships... Shiva needs to be very good if I'm to stay with EvE. Currently, as it looks on paper today, it has a chance of keeping me, but you know the problems that ship with patching and content that was 'delayed for various reasons.':(

It depends on how you precieve it. Each sector in EnB was very different from eachother. In EvE, all sectors are randomly generated and thus... similar. Heck, currently, I'm located in a .2 sector that is almost a CLONE of the newbie school system I started in, even though that newbie system was 1.0 sec and is 36 some jumps from my location.

It is peoples' opinion. They are not required to have YOU believe in their opinions. Ktnx.

Opinion below.
As far as low sec mining goes- it's same as .7 mining, except it is more frustrating because rats get closer. Currently, I am NPC hunting. I noticed NO CHANGE between hunting 0.8 rats and 0.1 rats. Seriously.

Why?

-in 0.8, I hunted white crosses that represented rats 30 km away.

-in 0.1, I hunt...er.. white crosses that represent rats 30 km away.

Because of such distances, you are always hunting white crosses. Unless you press 'look at', you never see the enemy ship (unless you come closer than 5 km). No sense of diversity at all.

Nope, perhaps not. But a sence of realism, which matters to me, and which E&B serioulsy lacked of imo.

Well In MMORPGs, realism sometimes equals boredom to many.

-In Earth & Beyond, when fighting, you encountered unique space life forms and unique space ships. When mining, you watched rocks (with awesome crystals of different colors sticking out of them) crumble under your prospecting beam.

- In EvE, of the other hand, you, when fighting, watch your modules flash, and when mining you watch your ore numbers grow. :(

To each their own I suppose.

-Newbie friendly. Yes, god damn initial training DID show you up howto play the game. When I started Eve, it was bugged, and accidently closed the training window (couldnt see, wanted to minimize) ... never was able to put it back.. plus anyway it was bugged. It ain't friendly. In E&B, you talked to npcs and they did tell you some kind of story, in Eve, it tells you always that "the damsels are in distress".

Ah, yes. Another point I forgot.. Progen Sentinel newbie mission even had a somewhat complex storyline with a bit of drama.
